With so many supertalents in the stats board, I am sure they can do a better job without being profit crazy. And if they cannot perform, sack them. You don't pay people so much who cannot perform. And I hope no one is going to say that only privatisation can make an organisation efficient and effective. Bull.

How much is satifactory? For all you know, they may benchmark their returns based on the most profitable company, like what the Government did with their minister's salaries. Trust me, they will come to that if this goes on.

Operators always adopt means to ensure returns are satisfactory. Doing it at the expense of poor and needy Singaporean commuters, is the least of their concerns.

It is a fact that SMRT has many prime spaces, which any landlord would covet for. with so many things going for them, so many advantages and different earning streams, thru rental or advert sales etc, it has to consider hiking the train fares at a time when they'd just made 100s of millions in their coffer, is what i really dun understd; as well as how PTC considers the merits for fares hike?

It is a listed company. Therefore the dividends for the shareholders are their prime concern. Fare hike is a must if you have to keep the shareholders happy all the time. This is the result of privatisation.
