Parliament is not kopitiam
Parliament is the nation's highest body where the ablest men and women gather to discuss serious national issues. There are important things to be raised in Parliament. There are important things to be raised only in kopitiams.
One issue I thought would be important enough is the sale of core national assets. We have sold 3 power stations which I believe should be regarded as core assets or strategic assets. They were real things, with buildings, machinery and equipment sitting on the ground. They provided an essential service to the people. We have exchanged them for fiat currency.
From the fiat currency we got, we probably have used it to buy other assets which recently have proven to be fleeting assets. Now the money is gone. The fleeting assets have diminished in value. Our 3 power stations also gone.
The selling of core national assets must be seriously discussed in Parliament. If we do not need the money, there is no reason to sell such assets. Why trade our core and strategic assets for things that, well, have proven unworthy or worthless? Parliament must review such attempts to sell more national assets in the future and decide whether it is a good thing or a sensible thing to do. At this point in time it has been proven to be unwise. It is like selling Christmas Island. Once sold it is gone forever.

At that time, they thought their plan was very good one. Now, well, we all know the verdict. No use crying over spilt milk, redbean. As with Christmas Island, the 3 power companies have also gone with the wind.
Nothing like the old wisdom of sticking to tangible assets like office buildings, land, jewellery etc rather than on puff up air balloons masquerading as assets.
I still have more faith in the old wisdom of producing real things, living on what you produce in exchange rather than flipping properties and gambling on the stock market and not really producing anything, just taking part in blowing balloons.

Only a bloody idiot would make such a statement.
And I had such high hope about redbean.
Anyone who sits in parliament and chooses to be a part of the mechanism which ultimately dictates and influences the lives of others is nothing more than a covert control freak.
matilah, you can call me idiot, no problem. just don't call my friends here and in parliament that.
ok, what were you mumbling? oh high hopes on redbean. don't put your bets on me, serious.
Are you sure you are the only one on this forum who has 'friends' in parliament? You forget which school I attended as a young lad.
I occasionally do idiotic things myself. So do some of my friends do really dumb things — and they keep on doing them, but they are still my friends.
Being friends with someone doesn't mean you can't criticise them. I criticise in the hope that they'll come to their senses and return to the private sector. Am I overstepping the boundaries? Who is to judge that? You?
hey matilah, you are sounding quite idiotic today. everyone is friend lah. why must everyone be enemy? i have been criticising my friends too lah.
what's getting into you?
Parliament is countless time better than kopitiam. It is like home to many.
First, it is exclusively for the super highly paid.
Secondly, that's where the family members gather to foster closeness. It is also the place where the pack can do combined assaults at adversaries.
Some, as can be seen from the telecasts, can doss in cool(aircon) comfort and be ready for actions outside parliament.
Selling off NATIONAL ASSETS could be a good thing in the end. Since so many appeared very unhappy, let's suppose one day, SIN is sold, the new owner maybe a better one, who knows.
It can be likened to a lady divorcing a horrible husband who loves to gamble and then remarries a wonderful lover and found bliss. It will a change for the better, rite ?

Are you neglecting to take your medication or were you denied sex last night?
Where did I ever mention the notion of 'enemy'?
I don't give a shit whether or not you criticise your friends or angkat their bodek. I don't see how that factors in to your argument or entitles you to some kind of 'membership' to some fictional 'exclusive' club.
matilah is trying to get into a fight with me. we had a fight long ago in st forum and we are still calling each other mate today. duh, i am not going to fight with him.
anyway mate, think your grey matter is degenerating. i may call everyone friend but they may not call me friend or may not even know me. why you get so sensitive about 'friends' or how many friends you know in parliament?
for your info i don't know anyone in parliament. ok, you are one up on me to have friends in parliament. you are better connected.
> you are better connected. <
Oh, you have no idea.
