HDB is a private commercial organisation, is a....

HDB is private, HDB is public, HDB is a commercial organisation, HDB is a govt organisation, HDB is to build flats for the people, HDB is to make as much profit for its shareholders.... What is HDB? What is the role of HDB? Oh it has been privatised, no longer a govt organisation or stats board. The govt has nothing to do with its policies. 'The Senior Minister of State for National Development, Ms Grace Fu, said yesterday that the HDB is "going to hasten the pace of the Lift Upgrading Programme (LUP) because we think this is a very good time....Ms Fu assured home buyers yesterday that HDB will "always price (the new flats) with the market price in mind.' This is quoted from the ST today. So is HDB govt or private? Also, this new pricing to the market must be a policy that every MP in Parliament also approved of. Was there any objection to such a policy or were there any question ask in Parliament? Objecting is a non existence word. Asking is the best that the people can expect from their representatives in Parliament.

Privatisation still means Government control. The only difference is when they want to increase prices or charges, there is always an excuse to justify it as a private decision, nothing to do with the Government.

So, we now have privatisation in name, but in reality is a mirage.

The best way to control the minds of the people is to introduce contradictory definitions or to be 'formless' (indefinable).. thereby cause people to argue and become divisive, and confuse the rest.

This is one of the classic characteristics of a political tool, which essentially is a tool of warfare. ("Be Formless" — classic art of warfare strategy)

The HDB is an emotionally sensitive issue. People are always in fear when it comes down to the fundamental security of their dwelling — add to the fact that their families are cared for and housed there.

This emotional 'fear' lends itself very well to the use of HDB as a political tool — and as I've previously said — which is used to bully or bribe the people — depending on the circumstance — into obedience to the government.

I love is. It is wonderful to see how the machinations of totalitarianism work, especially when it doesn't affect me!

I hope the sg.gov screws the people even more, so my prediction of Matilah Singapura will come to pass, and I can feel darn proud of myself!

Another possible function of the HDB, it could be a tool to set the property market prices (although we were told that the market dictate the HDB prices).

In other words, it is like that Public Housing dictates the value of Private Housing, not the other way round. The Demand & Supply of the HDB affects the D&S of the private, not the other way round.

In Singapore the supply of housing is essentially constant or grows relatively slowly — depending on new or re-development activity — in the domestic sector (we'll leave out commercial development/re-development which tends to be a lot more "active")

Housing real estate price in Singapore are thus predominantly demand driven, and since most housing is directly government controlled through HDB, and thus a political tool, the government plays a HUGE ROLE in the pricing mechanism.

So yes, it is true that the government can affect the prices of the private housing market — but whether it willfully uses it as a tool to manipulate prices is unclear. The fact that it uses it as a political tool and atool for social control is, IMO, indisputable.

if hdb prices had not been pushed to such a level, many singaporeans will have more savings in their cpf. now a gone.

That's an extension to what I've been alluding to all along — the whole thing is a political tool for social control, and it uses one's productivity (earnings) confiscated through the CPF scheme to run the show.

Bloody brilliant!
