The growing provocations and harassment by the Americans and its cronies have reached a point where China finds it no longer bearable and it has no choice but to stand up to the Americans. The American provocations are not new and it is not that they were bearable in the past. China has been beefing up its military and defence capability to thwart the aggressive and bullying Americans all the years and is now in a position to say no, that China would no longer be made to swallow the bitter pill of foreign humiliation and threats. Xi Jinping has put an end to Deng Xiaoping's policy of being patience, bend the head low as if nothing has happened in the face of provocation and keep slogging on to build a strong China. China today is a superpower in every field and the days of Deng's policy of quietly bearing with taunting and humiliation are over.
The Americans and their cronies have not let up in the last few decades to constantly put pressure and obstacles in the path of China. There are now more than 400 American military bases surrounding China with the bulk in Japan and South Korea with nuclear weapons pointing at China. And American political and military leaders have been very vocal in wanting to start a war with China, with some shouting about a preemptive strike at China's nuclear installations and with the Japanese Commander of the American Pacific Fleet talking about war with China any moment.
With so much hostility by the Americans, if China continues to yield in appeasement, it would only embolden the Americans and their cronies and invite more humiliation and threats. The first sign of China standing up to the Americans was the farcical arbitration in The Hague where China refused to participate. This was followed by several incursions into Chinese waters by American warships in China's islands in the South China Sea. China responded by telling the Americans that it is ready to go to war with them. China's nuclear missile force and the other elements of the PLA have been put on full alert to a face off with the Americans. More war games were conducted in the South China Sea and all over the coast of China that included live firings.
Yesterday it was reported that China has seized an American probe in the South China Sea, a signal to the Americans that China would no longer be reactive and passive, on the receiving end of American provocation. China would act and this is just the beginning. The THAAD deployment in South Korea would face stronger opposition from China.
China did not stop at just tackling the Americans head on. Little USAs would also be taught a lesson if they misbehaved. China would whack the doggies to show their master that China meant business. The first whack has been delivered and the little USAs are starting to behave as what they are, with tails between their legs. With the little USAs knowing that they could not pull whiskers from a sleeping lion, the Americans would now have to take matters into their own hands to take on China directly, and China would respond accordingly, might with might.
The firm and unyielding defensive policy of Xi Jinping against American intimidation is taking shape. The Americans are pushing for war with China if they continue to misbehave, to provoke and threaten China, to conduct military incursions into Chinese territories. China has gone on to fortify its military defensive systems in the South China Sea to a level that would take a toll on the Americans should they be tested.
The American containment of China could see a new level of aggression and belligerence with the Chinese matching every American move. John Pilger's documentary on The Coming War with China is timely. Though sane people would want to avoid a nuclear war between the two nuclear powers, there are enough mad people in charge to want a war between China and the USA. The risk is very high and China is standing up to the intense American challenge to contain its growth, militarily and economically.

Silly bananas thinking like the West
I read this Bloomberg report in the ST titled ‘China’s investments changing its neighbours’ on 8 Dec. The main part of the article described the big investments China put into Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar and how the Chinese investments have boosted their growth rates to 7 or 7.5% that many countries would be salivating. China is investing in everything in these countries, from railroad to real estates and also shifting its low value factories into these countries. And Chinese imports from these countries more than double in the last five years. Should not these developments be good?
Here comes the punch line. All these are bad. Why, too much dependency on China and also the factories are at the bottom end of the value chain. Ok, ok, fair enough, putting all the eggs in one basket is bad. These countries must diversify, to trade with the rest of the world, to trade with Europe and America. Wait, wait, can these countries afford to purchase the over expensive products of the West? Or would the West want to trade with these countries and buy their agricultural products and raw materials? If no, then how, don’t trade with China and wait for the West to come calling? What about the 7% economic growth, 3% happy or not, good or not, if don’t trade with China?
And those low end production, why, tell China they don’t need them. Ask China or the West to transfer their high value production to these countries? Oh, sorry, Trump wants his factories back. And Europe will not be bothered to send their high value add factories to these developing countries. By the way, that was how China started, how Singapore started, with low value manufacturing, gained the skills and expertise and move on. Should these countries do away with low value manufacturing and leapfrogged China into high value add manufacturing? Do they have the skills, the technical people to be in the next level of manufacturing?
Why am I asking embarrassing questions? The western experts and bananas that think like the West are denouncing Chinese investments in these countries and transferring their low value add factories to them as bad. Should advise the govts of these countries not to trade with China?
Is that the solution? What is the alternative?
‘The biggest risk for frontier Asean economies is that Chinese inflows create “extractive” elites who entrench themselves in power,’ said Mr Song Seng Wun…’ May I add my piece of advice, stop all investments from China, and wait under the coconut trees for the coconuts to drop. Never mind if ‘These countries are getting a lot of money and opportunity from China…’ True, stop all investments from China, don’t trade with China. Go and trade with the West, the benefactors of these ever developing countries since the days of colonialism.
These kind of silly stories originating from the West have nothing good to say about receiving investments and trades with China. They would rather these countries remained under developed or not developing than to grow at 7% and getting a lot of money from China to raise the livelihood of their people. The solution is to remain poor and not be solely dependent on China. Just wait for the West, their former colonial masters to return to help them to extract all their natural wealth while keeping them poor as colonies.

Cleaner is another choice profession
Other than
security guards, taxi drivers and hawkers, the next choice profession for
Singaporeans looks like cleaners. There were several reports in the main media
about steady increments and bonuses for this profession. A cleaner can look
forward to $1,400 per month or $1,600 and with bonuses some more. So, for those
professions that are getting less than $1,600, it is high time for them to
switch profession and join the cleaning force.
The
attractiveness of being cleaners is that entry level is low. There is no need
to have a degree, no need to sit for courses and pass professional
examinations, no need to take courses on anti money laundering, no need for
character checks, no need to declare non indebtedness, and no need to attend
annual upgrading or refresher courses. And there is no authority to watch over
the cleaners like a hawk as if you are a crook, a cheat and can be called up to
‘lim kopi’ for minor mistakes.
If these are
still not attractive enough, cleaners can wear face mask when working to
conceal one’s identity for those that are too shy to apply. And for some organizations, cleaners used the
fireman or delivery lifts for more privacy. Think about the annual increments
and bonuses as a cleaner. Better than being self employed, with no increments,
no bonuses, no medical benefits, no staff benefits, and no financial risks.
After
posting these benefits I am getting convinced myself that being a cleaner is
not a bad idea. When a cleaner finishes his cleaning duties, he can go home
without a worry.
Singaporeans
that are jobless, underemployed, wrote resumes and got no reply, need not worry
anymore. They can just apply to be cleaners, the next choice professions for
Singaporeans that are displaced by foreigners, or the so called young and discouraged
Singaporeans that no one wants to employ.
There are
choices, and being a cleaner would soon be a lifestyle choice. Ph Ds, Masters
degrees from world best universities that cannot compete with backlane degrees,
this is a new employment opportunity. Don’t be choosy. You are lucky to be
employed.

Japan working hard for its just retribution
The two atomic bombs in Nagasaki and Hiroshima were not enough. They only settled the debt of Pearl Harbour, which is really nothing, 3 or 4 thousand men and women from the American Pacific Fleet and the loss of half of the Pacific Fleet.
The invasion of Asia, from the Koreas and China down to South East Asia, the air raids, rapes, looting, burning and massacres, comfort women and the destruction of the countries and millions of innocent lives have yet to be repaid. The paltry sums paid as compensation were nothing compared to the war reparations inflicted on China in the 1894/95 wars, the 21 Demands etc, etc. Though some South East Asians are very happy with the Japanese compensation and are jumping into beds with the Japanese, forgetting the invasion and massacres of their people, the great pain and destructions in Korea and China were too painful to describe and to bear. While these two nations would like to forget these dark passages of their histories, the Japanese are working very hard to remind them that Japan would want to repeat these sufferings to the Koreans and the Chinese people by drumming up the glory of Japanese Imperialism, by remilitarization and by taking aggressive, assertive and abrasive acts against the Koreas and China.
The refusal to return the Diaoyu Islands to China and the repeated claims to Dokto Islands owned by the Koreans would only ignite nationalistic fervour in the two nations. And the aggressive and threatening acts of intercepting and challenging Chinese aircraft and ships in the East China Sea, the cries against the North Korean threats and threatening to attack North Korea, would not go unanswered. The two countries are waiting for the right moment to return the Japanese the favour and to let the Japanese remember and experience the pains and sufferings of the two people during the Japanese invasion.
The denials by the Japanese of their aggressive acts and intents at China recently would only open up old wounds. This was what the Japanese said, ‘Japan said on Monday it had protested to China over a Chinese complaint that Japanese fighter jets had engaged in "dangerous and unprofessional" behaviour when they scrambled at the weekend as Chinese aircraft flew near Japanese islands…. But Japan rejected China's assertion.
"I have received a report from the defence minister that the Japanese planes did not conduct any close-range interference toward the Chinese military planes ... or threaten the safety of Chinese military planes or its personnel," Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said.
"The fact that China’s military unilaterally announced something clearly different from the facts is extremely regrettable and harms the improvement of relations between Japan and China, and we have strictly protested to the Chinese side," he said.
Suga said Japan would watch the actions of the Chinese military, "which are expanding and increasing", and make every effort towards "firmly protecting our country's land, sea and air space and, in accordance with international and domestic law, take strict measures against any invasion of our airspace".
These kind of hawkish and unrepentant talks are a stark reminder of the days of Japanese Imperialism when they rubbished all Chinese and Korean protests when they were militarily stronger and they are still behaving just like their Imperial past. Today, the militarily stronger countries of China and a combined Korea would flatten Japan in a matter of days and the Japanese would be given a taste of their own cruelties committed during WW2. Japan is asking for it, unrepentant and arrogant and aggressive, assertive and the end result would be a just retribution that they rightly deserved for their cruel crimes against China and the Koreas. When it happens, there will be no mercy. It will be a bloodbath across the whole of Japan in the same scale the Japanese inflicted to the Koreas and China.
And Japan is working very hard for this day by continuing their bad behavior to their neighbours and provoking them, reminding them that Japan has never changed and just as evil and Imperialistic as they were in the past. No one would be there to save the Japanese when Judgement Day comes for Japan, to pay its war debt to the Koreas and China. The Americans had their desserts, the Koreans and the Chinese are waiting for the main course.
There will be no tears in heaven.
Japan’s two greatest enemies are China and the USA. China for fear of a retaliatory invasion of Japan to repay the war debt and humiliation of the Chinese people, and the USA, for dropping two atom bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima and keeping Japan as a semi colony since WW2. Japan would want to make the Americans pay for the two atom bombs one day.
Their most hideous plan, if they could pull it off, is for Japanese Harry Harris to start a war with China using American soldiers and weapons, leading to the destruction of Japan’s two arch enemies in one go, without the Japanese having to do anything or to die for it. And Harris is rattling his sabre, wanting to charge into China with American boys and girls to die for him and his Japan.

The naivity of Donald Trump
This is what
Donald Trump said about the defence of its allies and his intention to make
them pay for US protection.
"Make Japan, Saudi Arabia, and others pay for the
protection we extend as allies," he said in the advertisements,
which cost him a total of US$94,801. He said the US should
"'tax' these wealthy nations" and allow the US economy to grow
by relieving itself of "the cost of defending those who can
easily afford to pay us for the defence of their freedom".’
‘On September 2, 1987, Trump published full-page
advertisements in The New York Times, The Washington Post and
The Boston Globe that were billed as an "open letter from
Donald J. Trump".

"'tax' these wealthy nations" and allow the US economy to grow
by relieving itself of "the cost of defending those who can
easily afford to pay us for the defence of their freedom".’
The big question or big
deception is that do these countries need the Americans to defend them? Saudi
Arabia is the most powerful country in the Middle East with the most modern
military weapons money can buy. Japan was the world’s top military nation, conquered
the whole of Asia and nearly conquered the USA. Do the Japanese need the
Americans to protect them and to protect them from who? Which country in Asia
wants to conquer Japan or is able to conquer Japan or has the intention to
conquer Japan?
The hype about North Korea is
purely an American red herring. The North Koreans would have problems dealing
with South Korea let alone thinking of attacking Japan and getting away with
it. The tension or threats of war in Asia is an American creation, an American myth
created to force Asian countries to embark on military expenditure, to buy
American weapons to fatten American coffers. Without the Americans inciting and
raising tension, Asia is peaceful and does not need to keep buying expensive
weapons to protect against an imaginary enemy created for them by the
Americans. The threat to peace in Asia is actually Japan, that the Americans
have supported its remilitarization. Japan is the threat, not the victim.
Trump can keep all the
American soldiers and weapons back home and no one would miss them except one
or two little puny countries. Donald is still so innocent about the American
conspiracy to force Asian countries to spend extravagantly on unnecessary
military weapons, to buy weapons from the Americans. The war merchants and war
industry will murder him for that.
Trump is
‘trumping’ up more contentious issues and is attacking China on all front as
if he is the only one that is holding all the cards and China has nothing to
play with, that China does not know what to do or how to hit back at Trump. China
building military fortresses in the South China Sea? I think he would faint if
he sees the American fortresses in Diego Garcia, Guam, the Marshall Islands and
Okinawa. He has no imagination or clue of what a fortress is all about. And China
is lost, China is hapless, does not know how to respond, how to deal with
Trump, and waiting to be knocked the
daylight out of them.
To all those
in the western camp, they could only look at the issue from only one
perspective, the superiority of the West perspective, that they can do anything
they want and China is at their becks and calls. If things were so simple, then
the Americans would have swallowed up China long ago. If things were so simple,
ISIS would still be running wild in the Middle East and all the Arab countries
would be on fire. If things were so simple, the South China Sea would have
flared up into a full blown battle field with silly puny American cronies
fighting China.
If things
were so simple, the Americans would not be owing trillions to China and the
rest of the world. If things were so simple, they would not need to vote for
Trump, the best of the worse presidential candidates they ever had in American
history. And how could such a poor quality candidate yesterday becomes a savior
of the American dream overnight? He is now the Superman, the American hero from
the comic books. It is good to live in a
lie, that Trump has all the solutions to all the American problems and he would
dictate to China and to the rest of the world what he wants, take it or leave
it. China and the rest of the world would be on their knees begging for mercy?
Keep living
with the American fantasies, that the rest of the world is just dumb folks and
the only clever people are the Americans with Trump the super ‘knows all’
genius. Didn’t the Americans forget what the media were saying about Trump
during the run up to the presidential election? The two rejects but the winner
is now the maverick they were waiting for?
PS. China
told Ford Motor, you want to sell your cars to 1.3 billion people, build your
factory in China. Ford said no, we will build factory in the USA to sell to
300m people. This is Donald Trump’s brilliant advice on how to do business to
Ford.
I stand
corrected, not sure if Ford is building car factories in China or pulling out
of China.

Unemployed Singaporeans – Mismatch, no skill, no experience?
The problems
of Singaporeans losing their jobs and unable to find reemployment is reaching a
critical point. The senior PMEs have long given up hope, resigned to their fate
that the govt is not going to do much for them except telling them to go for
retraining to take on low paying jobs.
What is
frightening and unacceptable is to find out that under 30s are also unable find
gainful employment, fresh from polytechnics and universities. In many countries
there will be riots on the streets and the govt will be brought down. Here we
have the govt trying to explain away the problems. The reasons cited by the MOM for the
unemployment of Singaporeans, ‘the belief that there is no suitable work
available, employers’ discrimination or the lack of necessary qualification,
training or experience’.
As a result
1,200 young and discouraged workers, under 30, were reported, up from 700 last
year. This is only known statistics. How many more not accounted, not reported.
And the total number of discouraged workers is 9,900, up from 8,700 last year.
As if a consolation or an achievement, it was down from the high of 11,300 in
2009. What a relief.
If the
reasons quoted by MOM are the real reasons, how come there are more than
500,000 foreigners here gainfully employed? They did not believe there is no
suitable work available, the employers discriminated in their favour, they have
all the necessary qualification, training and experience that graduates from
our top polytechnics and universities did not have? Who is kidding? Or our
polytechnics and universities are so hopeless, useless, cannot produce graduates
with the right qualification, training and experience that third world rubbish
bin universities and polytechnics and schools could do better?
Please, what
is the real reason for such a big number of discouraged workers that are
unemployed, not counting probably much more that were not in the statistics? If
there are so many Singaporeans that cannot find employment or proper
employment, why is the MOM still issuing so many thousands of WP, EP and
SP to the foreigners and they are still
arriving in huge numbers daily?
Is the lax
issuing of WP, EP and SP the real reason for Singaporeans being unemployed or
under employed? Has CECA got anything to do with the plight of these
discouraged Singaporeans and those that have given up all hopes?
This is what
Gan Kim Yong said at the Teochew food and cultural Fair,
‘Speaking at the event
in Mandarin, Minister Gan Kim Yong said that Singaporeans should understand
their culture and stand united during difficult times. Below is a translation
from States Times Review:
“The understanding of a
common culture can unite Singaporeans during difficult times. Every Singaporean
should promote the kaki lang (Teochew for my family) spirit to be united
and overcome difficulties.”’
The first thing that came to my mind was the follow up
phrase. But I need not have to waste time trying to figure it out. A James Bong replied,
‘Kaki nang, ka chern sair
tang, pa see bor siang kang!’
Is this what is
happening to the discouraged and unemployed Singaporeans? ‘Kaki nang, pa see bor siang kang!’ Though
the millionaire ministers are having a good time in all seasons, the discouraged
or unemployed or under employed Singaporeans are really having a bad time.
Anyone think these are kaki nang and need to be helped, deserved to be employed
instead of the 500,000 foreigners?

Save ISIS, save ISIS
Now who is so mad to be
shouting 'Save ISIS, save ISIS'? Not me for sure. Just a year back, everyone was
shouting to destroy ISIS. The Americans were taking the lead, and many crony American
countries were sending their boys to the Middle East to fight and die, fighting
ISIS. Even today, our media are still daily reporting on ISIS bombing or
threatening to bomb this country or that country. I am sure Singapore also have
some of our boys in the Middle East fighting ISIS.
At the peak of the fight ISIS campaign, the Americans were seen leading the fight, and ISIS somehow got stronger and stronger, gaining more and more territories, victory after victory, and the Americans appeared to be hapless, the world's most powerful military force unable to contain a rag tag group of misfits called soldiers. How could that be? Were the rag tag soldiers, mostly untrained, half trained, badly trained and badly equipped, no air power, no big guns, were thrashing the professional Rambos, Green Berets, Special Forces and threatening to conquer and rule the Middle East? Their morale was so high, and this became their strong point to recruit more jobless kids from SE Asia, who believe they were on the winning side.
The Russians, Syrians and Iraqis continued to slaughter the rag tag ISIS soldiers daily and only a handful were left in Aleppo waiting for a total wipe out. Thousands of the ISIS soldiers have surrendered. Victory and a total annihilation of the ISIS soldiers were imminent. Now what? What are the Americans doing?

Their morale was so high, and this became their strong point to recruit more jobless kids from SE Asia, who believe they were on the winning side.
Then the Russians
stepped in and the picture of the war against the ISIS changed. The Russians
made the ISIS soldiers looked like misfits, rag tag soldiers as what they were
supposed to be, incompetent, unable to fight and on the run after many were
killed in battle. The whole image of supremacy, a victorious rebel fighter
force collapsed. Rag tag meant rag tag and had no chance against the
professional Russian army but triumphant against the Americans. Why, how could
it be?
Then the Americans
panicked and behaved like incompetent rag tag soldiers. They told the world
they were attacking the ISIS but ended up shooting down Russian fighter bombers
and bombing the Syrian soldiers. What was happening, what was going on? The
Americans, the world best professional army, apologised. They made mistakes in
attacking the Syrian soldiers just like they made 'mistakes' in sending a super
accurate cruise missile into the Chinese Embassy from 1000 km away. The
Russians and the Chinese knew the cunningness of the Americans. The Chinese
then were militarily too weak to strike back and had to swallow bitter pill.
The Russians sent in their anti aircraft missiles and all the attacks against
the Russians and Syrians by the Americans stopped.
The Americans are pleading
to save ISIS. Yes, save ISIS, save ISIS! This is now the American stand. They
wanted an immediate ceasefire. They wanted the Russians and the Syrians to let
the ISIS go to live and fight another day, to continue to create instability
and wars in the Middle East and threats all over the world.
Why, why are the
Americans pleading mercy for the ISIS? Anyone still blur and did not know
what was and is happening in the Middle East and ISIS? The truth that everyone
has been talking about, ISIS was and is the baby of Hillary Clinton and Obama
and the White House. ISIS is the Americans weapon of mass destruction, WMD.
ISIS was created, fed, trained and financed by the Americans to destabilise the
Middle East and the rest of the world, to keep all the countries in trouble,
under ISIS threats and needing the protection of the Americans and needing to
buy more weapons to protect themselves.
The Americans have
pushed through a resolution in the UN to force an immediate ceasefire against
ISIS in Aleppo. And all the silly American cronies that were fighting the ISIS
in the Middle East and in their own countries were told by the Americans to
vote to save ISIS. And they did, and still have their boys fighting ISIS in the
Middle East. How delirious can this be?
The Russians and the
Arab countries would not have such nonsense. The continue to bomb the
ISIS positions in Aleppo. The ISIS rag tag soldiers must either surrender to
die. There is no two way about this. They would not be let loose, to run out
from the tightening noose to live to cause destruction all over again.
The Americans are
furious and desperate and John Kerry is threatening to charge the Russians and
the Syrians for war crimes. He forgot that he should be the first to be charged
for war crimes for feeding, arming and financing ISIS and all those involved in
the White House.
Anyone on the side of
the Americans wants the ISIS to be let off? The mother of ISIS cannot let her
baby die. The baby is very useful to disrupt and destabilize countries and
govts. Please help save my loving baby. All American crony countries must stop
persecuting ISIS and let them live.
The American hypocrisy
is exposed in broad daylight for the world to see. How many silly cronies would
still want to send their boys to the Middle East to die fighting ISIS?

Thio Shen Yi - A rare breed
In a rare public display of criticism, outgoing Law Society President Thio Shen Yi said that his clash with Law Minister K Shanmugam over a case where police intimidation led to a suicide of a 14-year-old boy, was a badge of honour....
“If Benjamin had a lawyer present to give advice during the course of the (police) interview, would things have turned out differently? We will never have certainty, but it is not impossible to imagine a different outcome, and if that is possible, then one more question: How then should we act?”
Law Minister K Shanmugam was enraged by the Law Society President’s comments and threatened that his comments may amount to Contempt of Court:
“His statements imply that Benjamin killed himself because of police intimidation. Where the police are wrong, we must and will take action. But we should not allow deliberate, dishonest attacks.”
The Law Minister also slammed online news site TheOnline Citizen for fabricating “deliberate falsehoods to tar the police”.
The government’s state coroner absolved the Singapore Police of all responsibilities over the boy’s suicide and even praised the police and school’s measures taken “commendable”....'
The above was posted in the statestimesreview. Now that the case is closed, would a discussion on the above statement be a contempt of court? How many of you agree with Thio Shen Yi's comment that if Benjamin had a lawyer, the outcome would be different? How many of you think his statement amounted to contempt of court?
My view is standard. I always agree with the govt, especially the Law Minister. When he said contempt of court, be very mindful that he is right. But is does not mean that I agree with the govt or the law minister.
Anyway, I like this man, Thio Shen Yi. You don't find such individuals in the little Red Dot any more, or rarely. I have written a post titled, 'The silence of the intelligentsia' and had posted it earlier. That might explain why I like Thio Shen Yi. I hope saying I like this man does not amount to contempt of court or any funny or contorted or distorted interpretations. Such individuals are admirable in a city devoid of free thinking intelligentsia.

‘PM’s gaffe is a case of bad diplomacy’
‘PM’s gaffe is a case of bad diplomacy’
The above is the title of an article posted by a ‘Apologise’ in TRE. I quote a paragraph from the article on the PM’s gaffe and Apologise’s position on the PM’s position as not reflective of the general population.
‘Regardless of our individual positions on the South China Sea dispute, we feel that our PM’s gaffe is a case of bad diplomacy because China did nothing to Singapore to warrant such a response. We categorically state that his remarks does not represent all Singaporeans. We feel that by making those remarks, he is acting against our interest and his actions puts in jeopardy our warm and stable relationship with China that former Prime Ministers, including the father of our current PM, the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew helped cultivate over the years. Its understandable for China’s leaders to feel annoyed. We would like PM Lee to apologise to China and help restore our peaceful relationship, while supporting Singapore’s call for the speedy and safe return of our property.’
There are strong sentiments in the social media that were not favourable to what Hsien Loong had been saying on the SCS and relations with China. I once mentioned about the dichotomy in views and perceptions between Channel 5 and Channel 8 Singaporeans. The two groups are as far apart and divided in their views, aspiration, taste and likes and dislikes that no one should simply take them for granted as a homogenous group. When reading the English media, there is this audacity among the Channel 5 that they represent the Channel 8 people and can speak on behalf of them. The truth is far from it. Channel 5 people must not think that they represent the Channel 8 people and that their views are the dominant views. In reality, at this point in time, the Channel 8 people are the majority in absolute numbers.
Hsien Loong, though coming from Catholic High background, is more a Channel 5 than a Channel 8 type. His world views and cultural biases are thus more western than eastern and his preferences and affections are quite obvious. His latest comment that there is no ‘middle kingdom’ came as a surprise as he jolly well knows what that word mean in Chinese even if he is more Channel 5. China written in Chinese is zhong guo or 中国。Yes, 中国 means exactly what it is, Middle Kingdom. What he said about being no middle kingdom can be interpreted differently by the Channel 8 people and some may not take it lightly.
Perhaps Vivian can explain that Hsien Loong spoke in his private capacity as an ordinary citizen and not as a PM. That may appease some of the Channel 8 people if they did not know what it means by saying there is no middle kingdom.
Is this a gaffe? Whatever, there is no need to demand an apology, especially from our PM. No need to be so childish, everything also demand an apology. It would be quite embarrassing if our PM actually said sorry and China came back saying sorry must also explain.
The situation is bad enough, it is water under the bridge. Let's move on. It is easy for me to say it but would be good if China is to say it, let's move on.

John Pilger - The Coming War on China
Let me thank Lycurgus80ofSparta for this lead on this coming movie by John Pilger, The Coming War on China. You can view a 12 minute interview by Afshin Rattani with Pilger at this link,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG7Bve0baPo
I strongly recommend everyone to spend 12 minutes to listen to Pilger about his movie based on the real situation surrounding the American pivot to Asia and the biggest and most dangerous build up of American military power in history around China, with more than 400 military bases in a tightening noose to contain and strangle China. And this is the best kept secret of the Americans and the western media, keeping a tight lip over this build up but screaming that China is building 2 or 3 airstrips in the islands in the South China Sea as a threat to the world. This is western hypocrisy at its peak but daft Asians would buy it as a natural development and a right for the Americans to have 400+ military bases surrounding China but China cannot have a few air strips in the South China Sea.
Listen to what Pilger said carefully, at the misinformation, the blackout and the hypocrisy of the Americans. Get some insight into the 32 military installations in Okinawa and the secret nuclear complex in Marshall Islands aimed at China. In the event of a war, Okinawa would be sunk and the innocent Okinawans would be buried with it as the sacrificial lamb just like the South Koreans in Cheju Island, another American military base.
Learn the truth about the real provocateurs of a nuclear war and how China has to react, to raise its nuclear alert state from normal to the highest alert in the face of this serious American encirclement and nuclear threat. Learn what the Americans are doing to contain China, to blockage China etc etc.
Look out for this coming movie just before Christmas, to be screen around the world and to be enlightened by the truth of what is going on around Asia and be well informed.
Thanks again Lycurgus80.

Terrex Incident – The art of interrogation
The
Singapore team met up with the Hong Kong authority over the Terrex Incident for
3 times, each lasting about 6 to 7 hours. The time is about right, could be
longer, for such interrogation or investigation, or shall I call it meeting?
With the wealth of experience learnt in Singapore, hopefully the team went
there were well prepared, at least they should be in thick clothing in case the
Hong Kong authority turned on the aircon to the fullest. Luckily the meetings
were held during the day and not drag on to the wee hours of the morning. And
they were not stripped to their underwear.
Altogether
19 hours have been clocked in the 3 interrogations or meetings and nothing came
out of it. Maybe this is the norm and the Singapore team should be prepared for
another 20 meetings or interrogation sessions before they could see some light
in the darkened and cold meeting rooms.
I am not
sure if the Singapore team brought along their lawyers to protect their legal
rights. At least the lawyers could insist on food and drinks be provided or
they be allowed to bring in their own food. Such long hours of interrogation or
meetings can be very taxing on the side that is not the authority. The
advantage is definitely on the authority side, the side that could set the temperature,
set the tone, prolong or call off the meeting or interrogation as and when they
like.
I could not
believe that such a straight forward case of filing proper documents could take
so long and yet nothing is resolved. Maybe the authority is just being the
authority, just wanting to drag on and on and on. This is a common practice I
think. The side that is not the authority would just have to bear with it.
The next
step could be site visiting. The authority may want to bring the whole team to
visit the site, open and inspect everything, including the canvas covering the
vehicles. They may want to take some back for sampling test for dangerous
chemicals or drugs. I just can’t imagine what the authority is capable of doing
in cases like this when they are going to exercise their full rights and
privileges being the authority.
The poor
Singapore team is going to have a rough time, I think. And now is December. Better
send them more warm clothing.
Pearl Harbour – The unremorseful Japanese
December 8,
1941, Japan conducted a sneaky attack against the American Pacific in Pearl
Harbour, sinking almost every ship that was in the harbor. Today, a Japanese is commanding the American
Pacific Fleet. And there is another Japanese commanding the Japan Self Defense Force. And to mark the day of infamy, Japanese Prime Minister Abe
finally paid a visit to the site of horror where thousands of innocent
Americans were murdered in cold blood without knowing what hit them. Abe was
not there to say sorry, to apologise for the dastardly attack against the
Americans but just to commemorate the incident. Remorseful?
The Japanese
have not heeded the lessons of Pearl Harbour. They are not remorseful and so
were Abe and his ministers. They did not regret the death and destruction they
caused to the Americans and the victims in Asia and South East Asia. In an
article by a Kuni Miyake, a former diplomat, in the Today paper, he got the
cheek to title it ‘China should heed the lessons of Pearl Harbour’. He did not
think Japan should heed this lesson except regretting on the ‘hubris and miscalculation
that led to the attack’, not the shameful and vicious killings of innocents in
Pearl Harbour and Asia. Japan is rearming to the hilt, tore away their pacifist
constitution and is ready to conduct wars once again.
Japan does
not heed the lessons of Pearl Harbour. China must. China must prepare for another ‘Pearl
Harbour’ by the sneaky Japanese against Chinese ports and naval fleets. The
Japanese have arrogantly returned to their Pearl Harbour days and mentality, eager
to engage in wars. The Japanese so called Self Defense Force is as big, or even
bigger than their WW2 fleet and the largest in Asia, second only to China.
When would
Japan learn the lessons of Pearl Harbour? Is Japan waiting for a Pearl Harbour
on Yokohama or one of its harbours before it learns its lesson not to conduct
wars, not to engage in wars? Japan must know that the next lessons would be the
end of Japan if it dares to conduct another war of aggression against is
neighbours or against the Americans.
Would Japan
learn the lessons of Pearl Harbour before it is too late? Neigh, they think
they could conquer the world one more time.
PS. Is this Japanese warning and threatening China that Japan would do a Pearl Harbour on China?
PS. Is this Japanese warning and threatening China that Japan would do a Pearl Harbour on China?

Terrex – Enemy armoured cars landed!!
Many people
are trying to pooh pooh the seriousness of the 9 Terrex armoured vehicles on
the shore of Hong Kong as if they were toy cars, no weapons, so very safe and
innocent. It is really a non issue and Singapore’s relation with China would go
on as per normal. Singapore can still demand China to abide by the rulings of
the NOT UN backed Hague Tribunal, China must abide by international law, China
must ensure freedom of navigation in the SCS, China must not split Asean to
divide and rule. Singapore politicians can sleep very well and not going to
lose any sleep over the incident. How about 20 machine guns or rocket launchers
without the rounds instead of the Terrex? Safe and innocent?
The 9 Terrexes
are claimed by Singapore and were on an innocent passage through Hong Kong.
What if, the armoured vehicles belonged to some terrorist groups or a hostile
country? No country would allow such war machine to land on their soil without
permission or without their knowledge. In a worst case scenario, the armoured
vehicles could easily be armed and run through the city firing at anything on
site like a suicide mission or a point assault group clearing the way for the
main force to move in. How much damage can 9 armoured vehicles do to any city
or country once landed? Think about it.
In this
case, was someone testing Hong Kong’s custom alertness or a procedure to land
military vehicles into Hong Kong, a trial run in preparation for a military op?
Who knows, the incident is claimed to be so innocent. Was there any intent by
some nebulous party testing out their plans to back up Nathan Law and the other
silly girl to create a state of street violence when the opportune time comes?
It is not necessary that they would use the Terrexes, the perpetrators could be
more ominous and dangerous war machine like tanks could roll in when street
demonstrations go berserk. An innocent passage of the Terrexes through Hong
Kong with proper papers and declaration would be just another non event. Why
were these not done?
Once a procedure
like this is proven to be feasible, workable, the planners could use the same
modus operandi to turn Hong Kong into a mess. Do not take such an operational
slip lightly. No one knows for sure who was behind it and what was the real intent?
Don’t just pooh pooh it as just an administrative slip by APL.
Sure
Singapore is likely to be an innocent party but its vehicles could be made used
of by some unfriendly party without Singapore knowing it. Sure, Singapore has
no such ill intention against Hong Kong. But that does not mean other parties
did not harbor a threat with evil motive against Hong Kong and China.
Were the
landing of 9 armoured vehicles onto Hong Kong soil, or in Hong Kong port,
transiting or otherwise, with no papers or declaration, without the knowledge
of the Hong Kong govt, be that innocent or a sign of things to come?
Everyone is
looking at it from the political perspective, a ruse between China and
Singapore, China sending a message to Singapore in a deteriorating
relationship. No doubt China has cause for doing so, and wanting it to be so.
Beyond this, could there be something more devious behind an incident that
should not have happened at all. This is not the first time such cargo is being
shipped. Why so many holes in the incident? Why so many unnecessary and
avoidable lapses?
What do you
think?
12/06/2016
Terrex Incident – Daft Sinkies or stupid govt?
Why is the
Singapore govt quarrelling with China over the Terrex Incident? The Singapore
govt consigned its Terrex armoured vehicles to APL with a simple order, deliver
them to Singapore from Taiwan. How APL navigates, visits whatever ports, how
APL handles the documentations are not Singapore’s problem. All Singapore is interested is for the
armoured vehicles to be delivered to Singapore on time and in good condition.
Now APL
detoured to Xiamen, to Hong Kong and found not filing the proper documents and
the Terrex armoured vehicles were off loaded into the port in Hong Kong. Why is
this a Singapore problem? Why is Singapore sending a team to Hong Kong to
negotiate and to retrieve the armoured vehicles? Why is the Singapore govt
quarrelling with the China and Hong Kong govt? And by so doing, gave China the
opportunity to screw Singapore, to complain about Singapore not abiding by the
rule of law?
Should not
Singapore just be dealing with APL and let APL deal with China/Hong Kong? APL
shitted and why is Singapore running all over the place behaving like the
guilty party, as if Singapore shitted?
Should not
Singapore just keep quiet and tell APL to deliver the armoured vehicles or be
sued for compensation and damages? And by so doing, China would have no reason
to point the finger at Singapore and accused Singapore for any wrong doing.
What is
going on? Don’t we have the best legal talents to tell the govt, look, this is
not Singapore’s problem? This is a problem between APL and China/Hong Kong.
Singapore is just a customer of APL. Singapore has nothing to do with what APL
did in Hong Kong and how APL handled the armoured vehicles. If APL commits
murder, what has that got to do with Singapore? Why is Singapore responsible
for APL’s crime or wrong doing?
Is this so
complicated to understand? This is strictly a commercial assignment between
Singapore and APL. Why is Singapore in the thick of action in this political
fiasco?
Do you think Singapore could avoid this diplomatic row by just keeping its mouth shut? Who is the
daft one?
Eng Hen – A rude awakening
Was it the
seizure of the armoured vehicles or was it the newly elected Trump Presidency
that prompted Eng Hen to have a rethinking of what he said about the rise of
China in Simi Valley, California? The
containment of China, provoking and inciting Asean to put pressure on China,
bad mouthing China and selling the story that China is a destructive rising
power were given a new twist in Eng Hen’s speech at the Reagan National Defence
Forum over the weekend.
Before this
forum, all the arrows were aimed at China and nothing good was said about
China, a country that did not respect or live by international law, against
freedom of navigation, bullying small nations when the truth was that little
puny countries were trying to bully the sleeping dragon. Eng Hen was telling the US and those at the
forum that all these silly propaganda and provocation need to change. There
were several takeaways from his speech which would be upsetting to our foreign
minister and his MFA officials.
The first
point, it was ‘“neither possible nor strategically necessary” to contain the
Asian giant’s rise’. Of course the Americans would deny that, they would even
swear in the name of their grandfathers that they were not trying to contain
China with a blank face.
The second
takeaway, ‘It is clear that China needs the world as much as the world needs
China, and I think this interdependence will grow, not diminish.’ Now who wrote
his speech? Definitely not from the MFA. This is likely a speech coming from
the analysts in Mindef and would make many in the MFA very uncomfortable and
unhappy. But Eng Hen is not going to hold back after his armoured vehicles were
impounded in an embarrassing incident in Hong Kong and the likelihood of his
boys training in Taiwan being scuttled by the MFA’s position on China.
The third
takeaway, ‘that Singapore is “very careful and in fact, constructive” in
adhering to the “One China” policy’. Would the reemphasis on adhering to the
One China policy at this stage help in his boys training in Taiwan or is it too
little and a bit too late after all the poking by the MFA at China? How
constructive was Singapore towards the rise of China in the last few months,
and would there be a change to go back to earlier days before Vivian took over
the MFA and allowed his team to go wild to heckle China?
And another
takeaway for the Americans, ‘There are many areas that (US) can focus on that
are productive,’ he said. So the cat is out of the bag, the US had been counter
productive in its treatment of relations with China, put it in a polite way
without saying it, like telling China to abide by international law implying
that China was not. Eng Hen added, actually reported as stressed, that a ‘US
presence in the Asia Pacific “based predominantly on security is
uni-dimensional and structurally brittle.”’ I am not sure how his good friend
the hawkish Ash Carter would swallow these advices from Eng Hen in his policy
of containing and isolating China by military means and alliances?
Eng Hen is
the first minister to take a different view of relations with China following
the recent fiasco by Singapore that led to the rub and snub by China. The point is whether this is just his
personal view, speaking as a private individual, or a Mindef view, or the view
of the govt? Whatever, it is a first sign of fence mending with China, a job
that the MFA has fouled up so badly that nothing they said would help. MFA
better shut up and shut the mouths of its officials if Singapore wants to
improve relations with China. Perhaps a few sacrificial lambs like the retiring
of some of the more vocal anti China voices may soothe the nerves in Beijing.
Can the
Americans still think they could contain and isolate China with the help of
some silly Asian cronies? Would Eng Hen’s advice be taken seriously and lead to
a rethink in American policies in the containment of China? Is Singapore
rethinking its position and trying to do some damage control at this critical
time? Is Eng Hen’s view a solitary view, a departure from the official govt’s
view?

Singapore's Great Expectation - India
With the Terrex seizure still dangling like a hot potato and the equally hot comments from the Singapore side, relations between the two country is likely to take a dip into the longkang. The corollary will be trade and economic cooperation. All the projects in the pipeline would likely be left on the backburner for a long time to come. No one in Singapore would be able to go to China to reverse the course of this divide. No one in Singapore would have the guanxi to reach Xi Jinping to resolve the differences. No one would be able to make the right phone call or contact. The Philippines have Ramos to bridge the gap. Who could Singapore rely on to do this job, Chok Tong, Boon Wan, Kan Seng, Chee Hean or Eng Hen? Or should they depend on Vivian and the MFA to mesmerise China with their diplomatic skills?
It is not too far fetch to say that Singapore has just burnt its bridge to China. Some hopefuls are still dismissing the Terrex incident as a joke, nothing serious and everything will be back to normal soon. And better still, Singapore can still have good relations with China, calling China old friends that we can be frank, transparent, throw the book of law at each other and everything will be normal. And better still, still can conduct military training in Taiwan. I think this last part is a high possibility, and Xi Jinping would say, over my dead body.
Now that China is off Singapore's list of good friends, or Singapore is no longer in China's list of good friends, Singapore would not be able to ride the Chinese economic engine of growth and would have to look elsewhere.
How about the USA? Obama is still in office and could be the link man, provided Trump still bothers to talk to him. If there is anyone for Singapore to hitch on to the American 1% growth engine, it could be Hillary Clinton, definitely not Trump. Unfortunately Hillary is out on a limp, irrelevant, history. So Trump is the only hope. Hsien Loong is reported to have invited Trump to visit Singapore. The big question is whether there will be a meeting of eyes. The agenda and policies of Trump and Hsien Loong are diametrically opposed and unless one side is going to compromise, both would go off tangentially, if they ever met. Singapore is unlikely to change its principled position, so what more is there to talk about. Trump would be too busy minding his own business and bring jobs back to the USA, including those in Singapore. Looks like the USA is a no go as well.
What about Japan, the third largest world economy? Sure, Abe and Hsien Loong are like brothers, same thinking, same agenda and same interests. They are like inseparable twins. A slight problem, what can Singapore sell to Japan? I would have a hard time thinking of anything that the Japanese would want to buy from us.
Who is left to give Singapore a lift in the economic gravy train? The next biggest engine of growth is likely to be India, the emerging super power and economic powerhouse. Europe is too embroiled with its own economic problems and would likely breakup. So looks like India is Singapore's only hope, an economic train to hitch a ride to more economic growth. Singapore can invest in a big way in India. And to get the deal, Singapore can offer to sign an even more comprehensive CECA and hopefully India would be grateful and open its legs wide wide for Singapore businesses to get in. Just don't throw in conditions like all the top management staff must be Indians for any investments and businesses in India. Singapore does not apply such conditions to Indian companies in Singapore. India nationals are all welcome to all the top management positions in Singapore companies here.
Yes, India would be Singapore's Great Expectation for the next 50 years. George Yeo and Chok Tong can play the midwives once again in the opening of the Indian market to Singapore and Singapore to India. Nevermind if there is no China, no USA, no Japan. There is always India to lend a helping hand. All the great people to people relations built over the years with so many Indian professionals and influential Indians coming and going will make doing business with India a walk in the park.
Singapore's future is made riding on the Indian economic growth engine, soon to be double digit growth. The govt, especially Chok Tong and George Yeo, have great foresight for cultivating India and tapping on India's talents to build bridges.

Rule of Law versus guanxi
Anyone heard of the word ‘guanxi’? This word has been spoken umpteen
times by our leaders from their experience in dealing with China. Guanxi
is very important to them. Some even bragged about the who’s who they
know in China and can use this guanxi to get things done fast.
What is the difference between the rule of law and guanxi? Guanxi is about human relations, there is a human face involved though the necessary procedures under the rule of law still apply. Sometimes because of guanxi, some things or rules may be overlooked and procedures expedited. Guanxi does not mean lawlessness.
What about rule of law? Rule of law is all about law. No human face. The law says yes or no. Nothing to argue about. Don’t tell anyone how big is your face or who you know. Rule of law is faceless.
The issue of the seizure of the Terrex is all about the rule of law. Is there a violation of the law? If there is, play by the law. This has nothing to do with guanxi anymore. Like they say, play by the book.
This may be the reason why several of our senior politicians are all keeping quiet and out of sight, They know that since everyone is bragging about the rule of law, don't anyone try to get pass it by quoting guanxi. Singapore leaders going to China to strike deals can forget about guanxi forever unless they want to be slapped right in the face. A rule of law country, depending on principles, incorruptible meritocracy, must not have second thought about guanxi. Everything is transparent, above board, no monkeying around behind closed doors, no double talk.

Wang Gungwu – The consumate gentleman historian
Professor Wang Gungwu was at his best when interviewed at the Straits Times Global Outlook Forum on Singapore China relations and China’s One Belt and One Road Project. It is not just the depth of his understanding of the subjects in question but how he disagreed but saying he agreed with opposing views and still put out his views in a very pleasant and amicable way. To all those he disagreed, he told them he agreed with them and then told them his views that are diametrically opposed to those that he disagreed with without ruffling feathers.
He praised Singapore for all its positive contributions to China’s rise and economic growth and kept silence on the negative things Singapore have been doing to China. He praised Vivian Balakrishnan and said he agreed with him and his views but came out with his own views that were obviously not the same as Vivian’s.
While many still live in the past and think that China is still a hapless poor country that needed their help, this historian is living in the present, in the future, and telling them that the China today is a country that many needs to go to for help. This is the strangest part of the interview with the Straits Times published on 1 Dec, a historian living in the present while the politicians and analysts living in the past.
Wang Gungwu dispense his understanding of the Singapore and Asean relations with China in as frank a way he could, diplomatically. He encouraged Singapore to play a leading role in Asean, music to the ears of some, but to unite Asean to be useful to China or at least not against China. An Asean that is united and useful to China or neutral would be to the better interests of Asean and its members.
He also reminded those that kept harping about China expecting the Chinese majority Singapore to be helpful that this should be good for Singapore as well. Why not, why not be helpful and chose to be unhelpful? It is nothing to have such an expectation as if for Singapore to be helpful is a dreadful thing to do.
The other point he raised was to dispel the unthinking that were made to believe that China is against freedom of navigation. He said ‘China is now committed to a global economy and, needs freedom of navigation, freedom for ships to wander around, because the maritime economy is basically what China has benefited from for the last 40 years and they know that. He did not elaborate on who is selling the idea that China would curb freedom of navigation and the clowns that believe in this lie. He added, ‘This is totally different from the past, and I think they appreciate that for that maritime economy to be pursued consistently and successful from now onwards, (you must) have peace in Asean and Asean can be most helpful to ensure that China’s development continues.’ This piece of wisdom hopefully will go down well to those who have been told to think that China is an expansionist country and wanting to dominate the world through wars. Would this piece of wisdom go to waste among the silly unthinking leaders in Asean?
Wang Gungwu also touched on China’s One Belt and One Road and how important it is to have good relations with all the countries along the Belt and Road. The cooperation of all the countries is critical to its success for any one of these countries could derail the project. China needs to be friendly to all the countries and not otherwise. A China dependent on peace and cooperation with all the countries cannot be aggressive and unfriendly if it wants others to work with China. Now where are the sillies that are still living on the delusion that China would be unfriendly, expansionist and up to no good?
The very difficult region of Central Asia is where China has done best diplomatically to win their confidence to come on board the OBOR. This is where China has great success through peaceful means and diplomacy. Anything short of that would be a disaster.
In the sea, China was not there to challenge or oppose the American dominance. China wants to work with the Americans to ensure that the sea is safe and there is freedom of navigation for trade and cooperation.
In the whole interview, Wang Gungwu was saying all the good things and leaving out all the bad things that the unthinking and conspirators were doing against China. His diplomatic answers to the issues that have blinded many unthinking leaders and led them to misbehave badly may or may not change much of their thinking. But for the readers with an open mind and clear thinking would find them useful to dispel the negative myths spun around China by the liars and trouble makers plotting to contain China and disrupt the peaceful rise of China.

China wants to turn Singapore into its mouthpiece
Bloomberg
News reported on 1 Dec some comments by Bilahari Kausikan on the recent spat
between China and Singapore.
“This is not the first time Singapore ships equipment from
Taiwan through Hong Kong,” said Bilahari Kausikan, an ambassador-at-large for
Singapore. The fact this particular consignment was picked up shows China wants
to “send a signal
not only to us, but to all” Southeast Asian nations. China’s long-term strategy is to turn Singapore into an ally and “mouthpiece” for its positions, he said.

I am not sure whether Bilahari said the above in the
capacity of an ambassador or as an ordinary citizen. The comments are likely to
irk China again and may draw some flakes. At this point in time, with the heat
still on, Singapore officials especially diplomats and ambassadors should be
more careful in what they said. Maybe there is already an official position to
take.
There are two schools of thought on this. The more garang
and brave group that could not understand the meaning of ‘牛存不示虎’, literary translated as little calf did not know what is a
tiger, would be egging the govt to be strong, to stand up, look China into the
eyes, to tell China we cannot be bullied. The more mature and sensible group would
recommend not to aggravate the situation by talking cock, oops, I mean talking
tough. Talk reasons in a reasonable and respectful manner and try to resolve
the issue as amicably as possible. But looking at the tense situation, this is
unlikely.
If Bilahari is speaking in his capacity as an ambassador,
it is likely that this is an official position and his choice of words was
precise and intended. If he is speaking in his private capacity, then he can
talk all the cock he wants and Vivian would just say in Parliament when
questioned that he need not have to waste his time discussing about what a
private citizen said.
Would China send a note to the MFA demanding an
explanation and would Vivian said, stuff it? Whichever, these comments are not helpful
except to prove that Singapore got balls to stand up to China, to punch above
its weight. The consequences for such bravado would be for the people to bear.
There is a time and place to be tough and principled.
There are times when talking cock would look silly and incur strong reactions.
Without good men in charge, the lack of wisdom is glaring.

Kelvin Cheng – a plea to support the govt
Below is a
statement by Kelvin Cheng posted in the TRE.
‘I wish Singaporeans would rally behind the Government instead of criticising them re our recent issues with China.
Partisanship is for domestic politics. On the international stage, we must all be loyal Singaporeans.
And on this note, I also urge my fellow business people who do a lot of business in China to stop getting intimidated into lobbying the Government to appease the PRC. This is precisely what they are trying to do.
Yes our businesses and wallets are important, but our country is more important.
Be strong. Chins up. Have some pride. If we become doormats, nobody will respect us even as business people, and nobody does business with doormats.’

The need to
put up such a plea is telling. It is a sign of desperation and calling on the
people so abused and taken for granted to support the govt facing a row with
China is the lowest it can go. Let me remind Kelvin Cheng and his fellow
Channel 5 people that the Channel 8 people is a majority vis a vis the Channel
5. Rubbing up China the wrong way would not be seen in the same way as the
Channel 5 people.
And the
response and reactions, if what were posted in the comments to Kelvin Cheng’s
plea in the TRE is a measure of the sentiments on the ground, some people is
going to get a rude shock.
This guy is
still having the mentality of punching above our weight and want to take China
head on, stare them in the eyes, don’t blink, chins up, and China will shy
away, wither and melt down. Nothing to worry if we are brave.
The divide
between the govt and the people is so stark and Kelvin knew it if you read his
comments carefully. He knew that the govt has been harsh on the people
domestically but is calling the people under such harsh treatment to put their
differences aside to back the govt in an international dispute. And he believes
the people will go along. Are
Singaporeans really that daft?
Someone must
explain to him what is the meaning of ‘khong cum’.
Below are a
few samples of the comments in TRE.
- Uncle Lim:
Rally
behind a petty tyrant and a police state? He is crazy.
On the
international stage must be loyal? But on domestic stage get bullied by SPF by
the Scrooge it is ok is it?
The ruling
PAP doesn’t deserve our support at all.
If it has
been sincerely serving the people, no need to preach to us. We will support the
Govt but not this repressive regime.

So typical
of papigs and all dictators
When they could not justify their action, they called for blind loyalty and support
When our leader do stupid thing on world stage, we must not be afraid to criticise
He is already an arrogant dick

When pap
treated singaporeans like doormats, this idiot often took the chance to stamp
and wipe his dirty shoes on the doormats and then grinned like a monkey. Now he
wants singaporeans not to be doormats just coz his beloved pap has offended a
big giant? This lackey sure knows when to lick his bosses b@lls.

in the
first place, have you or your Chief Idiot any scant respect for fellow
Sporeans?
by importing FT in tons, by appointing officers who are not held accountables to failures, by not resolving problems of transportation, housing and cost of living? by embarrassing spore with silly jokes all over the international areana?
finally by changing our constitution of electing EP by race and thereby reserving the pending Ep candidancy to Malay, to preserve your party’s secrecy n survival despite strong objections from Sporeans?
