The injustice against our own citizens

There are still some Singaporeans questioning why PRs do not want to become citizens. The underlying assumption is that if PRs want to be citizens, we should quickly embrace them as citizens. This is a dangerous thought.

We do not need more citizens. We only need more heads to contribute to the economy and the CPF, just like we need more babies. PRs can remain as PRs and should remain as PRs. Citizenship must be closely guarded and issue only to deserving ones.

Many PRs chose not to be citizens for obvious reasons. And even having to serve NS is likely to be a waste of time and effort as their hearts are not here. Would they stay and defend this country in a war? The employment pass holders and work permit holders need not bother. There is no reason for them to die for this country.

Our citizenship comes with many privileges and should be as citizens should be treated thus. Citizens must be treated differently from PRs and others, and should not be disadvantaged. The privileges of citizenships are gradually returning to the citizens. A PR that turns citizens will immediately have a windfall. Buying HDB flats means savings of tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars immediately and may profit more if they eventually sell out, and sell out the citizenship. Then there are all the ‘subsidies’ in education and medical benefits, and the national bonuses. To the lesser foreign talents, the reward is very substantial, enough to make them rich should they choose to return to their previous country after a few years.

The injustice done to Singaporean citizens is the denial by govt policies to buy a HDB flat, the biggest investment of any individual. Many citizens are deprived of this privilege while new citizens could benefit from it over night. How more silly can it be? This is the thoughtless policy that should be struck out immediately. The true blue citizens are still suffering from such a flawed policy and treated worst than new citizens.

Would the govt think that this is wrong and focus on doing the right thing, and remove this injustice against its very own citizens immediately? Or should the govt continue to do the wrong and claiming that it is right, to do the right thing? Maybe they are so talented that they could not see the wrong in this unjust policy.

Here we go again with the same old sing-song:

"Citizens have to have special 'rights' over everyone else because of the default position of their mother's vaginas during birth.

To this very day, redbean HAS FAILED MISERABLY to prove OBJECTIVELY why so-called 'citizens' should have 'special rights'. Instead, he just keeps on ranting...and he wonders WHY nothing is changing?

What a dunce! The fact is that there are no 'special rights', and there can never be.

I'll also introduce another 'fact':

Singapore is CITY-STATE, not a cuntree in the true sense of the word. A city state is characterized by the free flow of labour, humans, capital and ideas in and out. Some people stay, many others merely pass through or visit periodically (like me).

A city state offers many advantages over a cuntree. A city state is not beholden to history or tradition: it can CHANGE as the region and environment requires. It can re-invent itself to take advantage of the new opportunities.

The world is changing rapidly. So I say, the city state is the best. Especially when you have a republic as the state mechanism and the rule of law administered by a UNICARMERAL parliament...which is too big and needs to be trimmed down...but not so bad when compared to other over-governed cuntrees.

Fuck the citizenship. Sell MEMBERSHIPS instead ;-)

Our pimp has been selling out Singapore too cheaply.

Exactly.

If I remember correctly, there used to be a time where to become a S'pore citizen as a foreigner, you had to cough up "investment" capital of SGD 1 million.

Matilah, do you have to prove why your father must take care of you? Or do you have to prove or justify why you should be allowed to stay in your father's house? Or when your father kick the bucket you should inherit his CPF leftovers?

You can't grasp what we are talking can you? Are you so thick?

Redbean, please lah, all you're displzying is you intellectual cowardice or ineptitude.... Perhaps both!

I don't have to prove jack shit because I'm not the one making any claims.

You are the unsatisfied curmudgeon making BIG CLAIMS, but you're very, noticeably, glaringly short on evidence but display instead an over abundance of bombast.

Show us the proof for your claims. If you can. If you dare. Ie: put up or shut up.

I think maybe some aren't used to the rhetoric you're using to bring about subtle epiphanies, Matilah.

But i get it, and enjoy it. I know many of you here are older, wiser and wax rich both in knowledge and insight, and i enjoy the kaleidoscope of perspectives thus put forth.

Most of the questions Matilah posts are statements in themselves, asked so as to trigger thought, and to invoke the psyche, not to disgust or offend as it may be more commonly misconstrued as such.

Sometimes he cheekily add satirical bits here and there, but its all in good taste, if only people only saw it as such and not otherwise, it would be swell.

I am humbled by the presence of giants.

Victor, many thanks for what I perceive to be compliments directed to me.

I take issue of you on one point:

>> I think maybe some aren't used to the rhetoric you're using to bring about subtle epiphanies,

There is no way of telling how/ what / the nature of the readers' reception "radar".

I write how I write. I don't write to be clever. I write to be ME. Over the years I've made this point repeatedly: I write for pure, unadulterated SELFISH ENTERTAINMENT.

If people like it -- fine. If they don't -- also fine. What I do have is an interactive "notebook" of ideas permanently on the net, nicely indexed by the wonderful machines and folks who run them at Google.

It is pure self interest, nothing more.

Either way one hopes that PR's can live comfortably and contribute to society without scorn. They pay taxes like everyone else and do not get any representation from Government. If foreign managers leave then much business and jobs leave with them.

It was sad to see that the girl who was born here and lived her whole life here and wanted to be the first Singaporean to compete for Singapore in the winter olympics was denied citizenship. Outstanding young lady turned down who asked for nothing other than to compete for her country.

Are government salaries based on the top 48 or 1,000 citizens impacted when new citizens are brought in who are above the average?

Hi just a thought, welcome to the blog.

There are basically two kinds of PRs. One, the really rich PRs who are here because it serves their interest. They could go elsewhere if they find it more convenient.

The other type is just roughing it out, waiting for the HDB flat price to go high enough and to resell to the sinkies while they return home very rich.

The average PRs who think they can do better and want to stay here will suffer the same plight as the average Sinkies. Everything will become so 'affordable' that they cannot afford them unless they are willing to empty their savings.

The first to feel the pinch, the Sinkies and PRs will be the renewal of their existing cars when road tax expire and will find that the next car is beyond the reach of many. It is going to be a painful change.

Private transport is good, public transport better!

Critical failures are rare because the owner adjusts to the performance of the battery and lowers expectations as the battery ages. And with the length of some international flights, additional run time offered from an external source could come in very handy. I found that HGH Energizer includes a special blend of nutrients and amino acids that should stimulate the making of HGH in older individuals. Examine the battery to ensure it is free of any cracks or major damage before proceeding.
