Only ONE Way

Mahathir and his sons are pushing to revive the building of the crooked bridge. It seems that this is the only way to save all the problems in Johore and the CIQ. There is no other way! Why can't or won't they consider expanding the Causeway? It is cheaper to build and to maintain, and more efficient. Or is it too cheap to build and thus cannot charge too high a toll fee when built as compare to a crookd bridge? Mahathir must learn to live by his own principles, that there are many ways to skin a cat. If a crooked bridge is obviously flawed and doesn't make economic sense, try other ways.

Thailand wanted to cut the Isthmus of Kra, but "what has that got to do with you?", you may ask.. like blur king often does. By lifting the bridge and suspending it at an angle, malaysia will be the new entreport centre with the blink of an eye, and singapore's trade will submerge, dummy.

I suspect they(Mahathir/son) have political motive and

redbean has pragmatic, commercial and economic views, maybe?

puppy.

don't worry, sinkies are always one up. we will park a VVLC outside sembawang shipyard. and when a ship wants to pass, they will have to pay us a fee for all the charges and costs for moving the tanker to let them squeeze through.

or we can build more fish farms and charge them for killing our fish or making them infertile by their pollution. fish medicine, fish viagra, water treatment, fish doctors etc all cost money.

this is better than collecting $20 tolls.

I don't think it is a question of the toll charges. The man is simply stubbon, combative and used to having too much his own way for decades. Why a crooked bridge of all things?

Just like his Proton project, why go to all the trouble to loose money? Just issue pieces of paper like Singapore and collect COEs. Simple, clean, efficient and never out of fashion like making cars.

you are right, the contract to build a bridge, the more crooked, the higher the value. imagine the returns. and collecting the toll is secondary.
