Singapore will participate in an upcoming Ukraine peace
summit hosted by Switzerland, with Senior Minister of State Sim Ann
representing the country.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said on
Tuesday (Jun 4) that he appointed Ms Sim as his special envoy to attend
the summit, adding that he had informed Swiss President Viola Amherd of
his decision.
Meanwhile, the Russian embassy in Singapore says
Zelensky's personal involvement in the Shangri-La Dialogue left Russia
with a sense of outrage. "His speech in support of diplomacy was nothing
but a mockery. A vivid example of this is the so-called peace
conference to be held in Switzerland in mid-June. Zelensky used his
participation in the SLD as a last resort to persuade the Global South
to take part in this bizarre meeting, the aim of which was to formulate
and then impose an ultimatum on Russia."
The Embassy alleges the
London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies is allowing a
once prominent forum to become a platform for anti-Russian narratives
and a tool to force countries in Southeast Asia to support NATO and
Ukraine.
"But we hope that the millennia-old wisdom currently
enshrined in the ASEAN-led architecture will prevail and help ASEAN
member states make the right choice in support of a new emerging
multilateral world order," the Embassy says.

Why did that Lawrence Wong waste taxpayers' money in sending Sim Ann to a Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland which even Biden think it's a waste of time to attend, and boycotted by China and India?
Zelensky is asking China to invest in Ukraine, and I was left scratching my head. After accusing China of having a hand in keeping countries away from the so-called 'Peace Summit' in Switzerland, he is shamelessly asking China for help to rebuild Ukraine? He is out of his mind!
Russia will not be at that 'Peace Summit' in Switzerland, calling it a farce. How can there be a peace summit without Russia's involvement is beyond my understanding. It is just like a marriage solemnization ceremony without a bride or bridegroom. Who is going to say, 'I do'? China is wise to stay away without Russia being there. Otherwise, China may be forced to say 'I do' on behalf of Russia, LOL.
In any case, China must never ever invest in Ukraine, the most corrupted country in Europe. It is too risky knowing all of Europe is under the control of the USA, which is trying to destroy China. These are just vassal states with no power to do otherwise. Such Chinese investments could be seized if the South China Sea conflict arises. A precedent has been set in Ukraine, with the seizure of Russian assets.
The clowns going to Switzerland will provide some entertainment, nothing else. And why not? They will go there for an all-expenses paid holiday, clowning around, do some photo-shoot, claim it as a successful summit, although nothing will be achieved.
Singapore and Vietnam provided free holidays for Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un a few years ago. This was a face-to-face summit involvement. Both just let off some hot air. What was achieved? Nothing! Did North Korea de-nuclearize? Not on Trump's life will Kim do that. Three generations of the Kim family worked to achieve success in acquiring nukes and Trump wants him to destroy all that in a jiffy. Trump must have been either hallucinating or on drugs.
Why? Ask the Americans. Definitely not influenced by the Americans, no coercion.
