Degree not recognised in Singapore and Malaysia

M'sian man, 32, spent 5 years on degree only to learn it's not recognised when bank rescinded job offer
He had 10 other course mates.

He should get a degree from India. I have not heard of any Indian degree that is not recognised except for degree mills. Not sure where was this degree from. The name has been blanked off. Think not from India as all Indian degrees are recognised and even preferred by some organisations and govts.

It is safer to get a degree from India. That is where most of the foreign talents came from and all the foreign employment agencies would recommend Indian talents for top jobs, with great grades and experiences that outshone Singaporeans and better than Singaporean degrees.

PS.
How easy is it to get a fake Singapore university degree certificate, and what are firms doing to detect this?

CNA speaks to HR experts and employers about the issue of local jobseekers using forged educational qualifications to secure employment – and attempts to buy a fraudulent degree certificate.  CNA

This is the right step and right direction to go. Only Singaporeans cheat. Foreigners don't. So no need to bother about checking foreign degrees. Also it is easier to verify local university certificates. Foreigner's certificates, don't bother. Very difficult, near impossible to find out. Just trust them, as long as they can do the job, no degree or fake degree also never mind. Just catch and shame the Singaporeans.

What do you think?

Foreigners, I believe, basically do not worry too much about their fake degrees from Indian universities or degree mills. How often do employers bother to check? If they are caught, at the very most they lose their jobs, and return home to con another employer another day.

Not locals though, who have to look for another job here and this is where the stigma stays with him or her throughout his or her working life. A call from a prospective employer to his or her former employer will kill any chance of getting the job.

Tsai Ing Wen professed to have a Phd, but attempts to check with the University she was supposed to come from, all ended with vague answers and reaching a dead end, undoubtedly because of her position as President of Taiwan. There were no evidence of her ever receiving her doctorate according to the University's record. She thought no one will check, but someone did and exposed her lie.

PHD i.e.. Psycho Head Damage?

She claimed that just because she is took part in the WTO Trade Negotiations that she is brilliant and the Daft Taiwanese adored her.

China just give chance that Taiwan is part of the WTO Trade Pact as China do not want Taiwan to be economically left out.

Taiwan is after all China and does not want their own to suffer on their rights to WTO Agreements.

Tsai, just like many bananas thought that just by processing so called pieces of Toilet Papers Degrees are Superior Beans.

Nowadays, Chinese sages used to say The More they Study the Stupider they are.

Tak See Chek- that's is Learning with dumb brains.

Humans with common sense and streets wise intelligence are smarter than dead Scholars.

If it's a cooking/barista degree .. and the food/coffee taste & look good; it will be recognised by hotels and F&B outlets.

Exactly! With a degree from India, he wouldn't have been let off. He would become CEO of the bank or another Fortune 500 company.

@Anon 9.00am - You also never check. LSE confirmed her PhD.
