Under India's first-ever Chairmanship of the SCO, the SCO foreign ministers meeting in Delhi recently witnessed an acrimonious India-Pakistan standoff that vitiated the “Shanghai Spirit,” even as the Central Asian states and Russia and China mutely watched.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shockingly decided to host the SCO Heads of State summit on July 4 in virtual mode amid lukewarm ties with China and Pakistan.
As the SCO may eventually be rendered comatose ready for burial by India, it stands to reason that China and the Central Asian states and Russia felt the need to create more effective mechanisms and plans in their common space so as to impart a new quality of cooperation, and supplement the SCO if need arises.
So, instead of expelling India from the SCO, the Xi’an summit was held on May 18-19 with the five heads of Central Asian States and Beijing. A new ‘5+2’ axis is being formed (Central Asia plus China and Russia).

Putin or Lavrov obviously knows that India is playing both sides of the chessboard. India has one foot in QUAD, the other foot in BRICS, trying to sabotage BRICS and SCO.
India is taking advantage of Russia clear and simple, being high dependent on Russian energy. Russia should be keenly aware that India is not trustworthy, which it always was, with the USA using India for the dual purpose of weakening Russia and countering China. This is how useful India is to the USA, so much so that even with India supporting Russia in energy exports and buying weapons from them, thereby weakening the sanctions imposed on Russia, the USA dared not take punitive action against India.
The SCO has to be revamped to exclude India. That can be done as what China already is doing with the 5 + 2 grouping. BRICS could be a more difficult problem to sideline India, the probable 'Trojan Horse' of the USA.
Once Beijing doesn't have to be polite to New Delhi for the sake of SCO or BRICS cooperation - now almost nonexistent - it'll be time to take back the 90,000 square kilometers of the land of Zangnan, or South Tibet, from Indian control which the Indians call Arunachal Pradesh.
The population in the NE region of India are of Chinese and Tibetan stocks. Not Indians.
These people must hold a referendum to reunited with the Motherland China. Why should they be ruled by Indians just because the white men came with a pen and cut the land for the then East Indian Company without the agreement of China?
The white men from far away Europe have no authority to delineate the territories and decide which part belongs to who.
The people of Sikkim should also hold a referendum to decide whether they want to stay as independent state or be part of India or China. They are not Indians.
