They are paid what they are worth

This is Matilah’s truism. I always discount what he said by 50% as most of the time he just shoot from his hip. In this case he added a qualifier, ie, a free market mechanism. Of course there is no real free market mechanism to talk about, especially when pay is concerned. For this, I will deduct another 20% from his truth.

The corruption in both public and private practices as far as compensation for the top dogs is concerned is as innocent as the devil wearing a halo over its head. How could anyone justify paying a joker hundreds of millions a year or tens of millions a year? Superman or Wonder Woman? Yesterday’s ST reported about the scions of billionaires paying themselves millions simply because of their genealogy. But the recipients would tell you they really deserved every cent paid to them.

How deserving a person is should not be determined by the incumbents or those with vested interest in the well being of the incumbents. We have seen and heard a lot of hogwash regarding the super salaries the employees are getting and claimed to be worth every cent of it. Would any of the recipients or those related to the recipients say otherwise? Or would anyone of them be honest enough to stand up, with a straight face, or embarrassingly and meekly say, actually I don’t deserve the money as I am doing sweet nothing?

Closer to home, the hot topic of the ministerial salary is always on the mind of most Sinkies. The ministers will vouch and swear that they deserved every cent they are paid. Some will even claim that they are underpaid. I am not going to discount any of their claims. I do not know how hard they work for their money or what is their true market value.

What is important is the paymaster. Does the paymaster think that the ministers are being paid fairly? You will know the answer in 2016.

The real stuff in the real world is that many are paid outrageous salary because they are family. And many are equally paid dubious salary because of political reasons, using public funds. How many of you really believe in this Matilah truism?

He is the one and oni wiseman in the Net
that me kowtow to.
Maybe, I feel I shud have the freedom to
do whatever is right in my own way. If I pay
family members and friends or give them appointments, it is up to me to decide.
Who the hell is to ask me why, what and how???

When I do not have to answer to gods, who the hell are You mortals and subjects under
Me?

Politicians who want to be very cleanly rich like Tan Kah Kee, Lee Kong Chian, Tan Lark Sai, Lien Ying Chow, Wee Cho Yeow and other very successful businessmen, should take up the business entrepreneurship and not try to take short cut to riches by political means. For ministers and their related associates in government departments and GLCs to claim that they deserve the millions of dollars in sinful salary at the tax payers and country's expense is plain hogwash. Politicians who choose the righteous path to serve the people and the country should not look at wealthy successful businessmen with protruding eyes and then try to be as rich by digging in the state's coffers with impunity.

It is said that high salary can keep one free from corruption so I would say anyone who work for money and can be top talent deserve a high salary. But higher salary still cannot guarantee one not be corrupted because money is not everything to everyone especially talented cheekopek like me.

To me,not only top talent deserve a higher salary package, they should also be given that extra special privilege by allowing them to have more wives to reduce the chances of being implicated for corruption by obtaining sexual favour because of their genuine sexual needs.

How much are they worth, just a dollar and nothing more.

Mr Eagle Eyes:

Maybe businessmen have to work very hard for their money and no matter how rich they became, they do not have any authority over all the people.

To me, rulers are gods on Earth in their territories.

Unless they are put out liked Idi Amin, Saddam and Gadaffi etc, the people will
have to bear with it.

This multi million dollar pay stuff is getting to become the joke of the century. But don't laugh. It comes from your pocket and it hurts.

Saying high pay will stop corruption is only a story to justify one's own high pay. Pay is now used to attract talents because the direction of the government has changed from a truly serving ministry to a business coporate like. Citizens are merely production units.

Anyone got figures to show how many good jobs were created in Temasek and GIC for foreigners and how are much paid to them? And whether they are making money to justify their high pay or losing money instead?

The self claimed pious buddhist is a smiling tiger and not a laughing buddha.

So, look carefully what is behind his smile and check back his works in the past. Did he provide any good?

I am talking about wife lah.
Polygamy not legal here.Got money no lobang oso no use.I feel besides high pay, they should also be given special privileges to marry more wives if they want.
This will reduce the chances of them getting implicated for sexual related offences .
Lovers and partners carry high risk .PGO dun allow them to visit places of doubtful repute. It is indeed tough to be a civil servant especially the more senior one.
I sincerely care for the welfare of our civil servant though I am a victim of injustice before.Dun doubt me please.Should acquit cases involving them. They are human too.

My programmer is trying to convince me to move to .net from
PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses.
But he's tryiong none the less. I've been using WordPress on a variety of
websites for about a year and am nervous about switching to another platform.

I have heard good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can import all
my wordpress posts into it? Any help would be really appreciated!
