This is what LKY said about China in a report by The Australian on his new book, Lee Kuan Yew: The Grandmaster’s Insight on China, the US and the world, ‘Will an industrialized and strong China be as benign to Southeast Asia as the US has been since 1945? Singapore is not sure. Neither is Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand or Vietnam. He says “many small and medium countries in Asia are concerned. They are uneasy that China may want to resume the imperial status it had in earlier centuries, and have misgivings as being treated as vassal states.’
What is so intriguing about such a westernized view now spoken by LKY? The Americans have been selling this fear daily in all the western media to frighten the shit out of unthinking Southeast Asian countries that China will be eating them up piece by piece. This is American and western fear mongering all these years. It is ‘wolf, wolf, …wolf, wolf’. So what is the big deal parroting an American/western loaded view?
The more dicey part is to link this to a China that ‘wants to resume the imperial status it had in earlier centuries’ and making Southeast Asian states China’s vassal states. How possible and realistic is such a thought? This is antique thinking. The geo politics of the world have changed. The dynamics of world politics have changed. There is a bigger monster in the USA riding roughshod over smaller countries around the world, particularly in Africa, Middle East and recently in Afghanistan.
The main purpose of such rumour and fear mongering is to justify the military presence of the Americans in the region, the American pivot. What else could it serve other than pandering to the interests of the Americans? Of course the Americans will say, good boy.
A China to dominate over Southeast Asian countries is a near impossibility for at least the next 50 years as long as there is a mighty American military that is unchallenged in the world. And as have been proven by the belligerent and imperialist Americans and the Russians, the world today, with nationalism a vital force, no superpower can conquer and subdue a country when the people are ready to fight the invaders. The Americans could not subdue the North Koreans, the Vietnamese, the Arabs, the Africans and now facing the same fate in Afghanistan like the Russians.
World domination by military means is no longer a viable and sustainable option. There cannot be another evil empire to rule the world unless it is so overwhelmingly powerful and it could press and extinguish any form of military resistance like a cockroach. And even if possible, the cost of maintaining peace and security will be a perpetual pain to any evil empire.
It is a different world in a different century. Old ideas and imaginations no longer hold, and the new world order is not going to be like history, Imperial empires, vassal states and all that jazz. It is all about playing computer games and more. The world has changed baby.
By the way, is the USA a benign superpower? Ask how many wars it had started and how many countries it had invaded and bombed and how many innocent people it had killed. Ask those countries that were victims of US aggression and invasion. We happen to be useful and play by the rules of the USA and got some crumbs to feel grateful. Also, thanks to our Muslim neighbours for taking a not too friendly anti USA stance to make us useful to the USA.

Yup. I've said this time and time again. Craven Asians and their governments balls drop when they think of China's future.
These 2 faced motherfuckers are keen to take China's money and use China's cheap labour for their own selfish nationalistic goals and fattening the pockets of the corrupt political classes, but habour a secret fear, and possibly a furtive hatred for China's almighty rise.
The future is going to be very interesting...because very simply ... it is UNPREDICTABLE.
The western civilization has no precedence of running an an empire over a long period of time. Western civilization most natural state is fragmentation into statelets.
Western civilization could probably survive long under weak federation like EU. I think in the long run, USA federal government could go EU's way.
And with a weakening USA, LKY like it or not, China is going to fill the vacuum. Not only that USA may invite China to SE Asia, as she withdraw willingly.
Over the pass years, USA have been bleeding and sending her sons to death in Afghan. Meanwhile, she invite China to develop copper mine Aynak, the 2nd biggest and highest grade undeveloped mine over decades.
Not that USA do not want to do it, she cant. Only China, with 2000 years of experience in controlling central Asia, has the experience to deal with these people.
If Aynak is given to to Western companies like BHP Billiton, tomorrow Taliban will suicide bomb it into a swimming pool of blood.
Over the years, when LKY talk more and talk, he reveal his stupidity. He is lucky to rule over Singapore, who is majority Chinese, that is able to auto-pilot to prosperity.
LKY thick skin take credit and tell everyone Singaporeans are stupid.
Unfounded fear... China was never a domineering power. Given its glorious imperial days, Admiral Cheng Ho sailed far and wide, probably even reached the American continent but they never colonized any country. Not one. So, what is LKY talking about China being the superpower chewing up SE Asia?
What I agree with LKY is that China may not go fully democratic, for a long time to come.
Taiwan, S Korea, Japan are small. So democracy is no problem.
But China need a strong central government.
I predict China would be more and more democratic over the years, but to be fully democratic would take much longer time.
LKY is not just lucky to rule a Chinese Majority City, he was damn lucky to be given the most prosperous state in the whole of S E Asia ob a silver platter by the British. And it was plain sailing for him all the way until near his dying time, which is now. Me wishes he can live another 10 years lucidly so that he gets to witness the crumbling of his dynasty.
He has said a lot about international politics liked as though he is good to head the United Nation. He was never invited to work in it and neither did he volunteer.
He has also compiled some books to keep himself in posterity and made money. But, it maybe posterity that will make him turns non stop in his grave. There will be plenty of rotten eggs and spits at his tomb if it is not guarded for 20 years from the date of his death. Maybe 50 years after, there could still be Singaporeans spitting at it.
Right now, many have declared to pop the champagne when they get the official announcement of his death. He and his Families should know as it is no secret. This is his and his Families' Greatest Legacy in Sin and in History. Posterity there shall be.
LKY can also curry very well. Us is powerful so he will carry us balls. When china is powerful, he will carry china balls. In reality, Us real enemy is not china, it is india. Indians are famous for the twisted tongues and two headed snakes.
The clear and present danger to the world today is the evil American Empire. Talking about a hypothetical case or wild imagination of what a future China would be is to evade the reality of today to worry about delusions.
This is the same diversionary tactic as the govt talking about problems in 2030 and evading the problems that it cannot solve today. Just mislead the people to look at dreams of the future and forget about the pain or demons of today.
How convenient. The SWFs or big organisations can lose their pants today but tell the people to look long term when all those who lost all the money would be dead or not around.
I do not think USA is that bad. But certainly USA has lost its moral compass compared to many years back. USA become worse and worse.
