White Paper - The nonsensical arguments so far
We must plan for the worst than to underprovide. This is what Boon Wan said about the 6.9m population projection. I dunno if he knew what he was talking about. He quoted the example of wedding dinner guests and not sure how many would eventually turn up. Hello, the population of a country is not a wedding dinner. The number of people in the country can be calibrated and controlled especially when a big chunk is made up of foreigners. When the number is reaching the target, just turn off the tap. It is so easy, unlike the fertility rate of the citizens, more or less, the govt would have to accept. Is this simple enough illustration to say there is no necessity to plan for the worst when population number is concerned?
Boon Wan also said that he was confident that he would be able to ‘calibrate its plans,…adding that the housing supply will be paced “accordingly, a little bit ahead of demand.’ He should have taught his predecessor this and there would not have been any housing problem today.
The next thing I heard is that Lim Swee Say said that we would not have all the problems associated with the 5.3m population if we have had the national conversation yesterday. This is so as the natcon would have raised the problems of the need to upgrade the infrastructure before the population surged from 4.1m to 5.3m. Uhhhh…., beg your pardon? Did he mean that the govt would only be able to avoid all the overcrowding and lack of infrastructure problem if there was a natcon, and that the govt is incapable of planning ahead, lack of foresight?
I am so terrified. Do we still want to believe that the White Paper is carefully thought out? So scary isn’t it?

It is frightening that blurred people are running the country. The only thing they are clear about is the size of the pay check and what they can get out of the system.

This is a bald-faced lie - the planned increase in population was already published in The Next Lap on 22 February 1991
Those white albinos sure have no problem. In retirement they will still be sitting on the board of GLCs while ordinary Singaporeans have to compete for jobs with foreigners.
They are saying that a 6.9 million population is based on the assumption that we can sustain growth of 2 to 3 percent. What is going to happen if we fall short and only managed a 1 to 2 percent growth? Can we just reduce the population to survive? A country is not like SIA can suka suka reduce its staff to survive. Not for a country.
I think it is a dangerous assumption and if it goes terribly wrong, those white albinos will be the first to quit the country and leave us to face the consequences.
Looking at the response everywhere, I think the PAP is digging its own grave.
Now the PAP is saying the upgrading of the infrastructure is to await the import of more foreigners, and not for the benefit of Singaporeans actually.
Little wonder, the BE in Punggol East was held hurriedly just before the white paper on population was released, which would have given them the knockout punch by the WP without even the need to campaign.
I await eagerly the outcome of the AIM francas, which is also an item that probably will have a deep impact on the BE had it been held later.
If the PAP is not listening to the voice of the people, the people must not trust them ever again. Words spoken after GE2011 were onveniently forgotten and they still are doing what they like. Which goes to show that the vindictiveness of the old regime is still prevalent among the younger leaders.
IT IS AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE THAT SINGAPOREANS ARE STILL HAVING CONFIDENCE IN THE GOVERNMENT.
In 2030, many of us will be around 50s, 60s, 70s of age. We have to compete jobs with foreigners and most likely be kicked out cos due to age and have to work as cleaners or food court clearing trays due to super high costs of living. We have to wait like mad for healthcare services. We have to squeeze like crazy on public transport. We have to spend a lot of time waiting just to get certain services like cashiers, atm. THis is too scary to think of. THe stress and health issues relating to high population are well documented. Just google. Are they really on our side or they want us to die fast? Msia only has 20m people, a small cunty like Sg needs 7m? Are they are out of their minds?
The White Paper reminds me of those banners you see at Marine Parade proclaiming "CASH FOR TRASH"
Does the pm has the authority to change the fabric of our society without a referendum? If this fails, and it will, he and his frens can migrate to big open australia and write long critique of how the govt then is not able to solve the probs left behind....sad

When you say ""CASH FOR TRASH" it meant there is value in trash? As far as Foreign Trash is concerned, I see no value added to our way of living, our wages, our living conditions, hospitals, education of our children, other social amenities like transport and road space etc
As for the extra 2 or 3 % growth in GDP, we are going to pump in tons of hard earned money to prop up our social infrastructure NOT for natives but to welcome these FTs (Foreign Trash)! It appears that this regime is going "mad!" Almost all citizens and netizens and every blogger are saying that it is crazy and madness yet they refuse to listen! Yes, they digging their own grave indeed! Really langgar!
Just looking at the pics at the income inequality forum and everyone knows who have betrayed singaporeans. Do not vote for dead frogs.
Prepare for the worst? what if there is outbreak of sars? enough healthcare? what if there is recession? enough jobs? what if there is famine? enough food? Do not be fooled again and again by MIWs.
