Multiculturism can do us in - LKY
Below is a quote from LKY on multiculturism and how America could be done in if multiculturism makes America more Hispanics than Anglo Saxons. It is about tribes, about the vitality of certain species over other species. This is his quote in Forbes.com, ‘He(LKY) also gives U.S. immigration practices a failing grade, declaring that “multiculturalism will destroy America.” The key question is: “do you make the Hispanics Anglo-Saxons in culture or do they make you more Latin American in culture?”’
We are moving aggressively into multiculturism above the historical four major ethnic groups. Now we are pouring in the cement and mud of other immigrants into our mix. Are we putting in more mud or cement like the Hispanics versus Anglo Saxons mix? If we are bringing in more of poorer quality genes, we will be just as worst off as the Americans as described by LKY. We will also be done in.
What would the 6.9m mix be like? Or have we included too much mud into the 5.3m mix already and have to live with it in the future?

The problem is already here. The powers that be plan on the basis of statistics - not about real people. For example, who are the Chinese they have or plan to bring in? Does a northern Chinese from the border with Mongolia qualify? Similarly who are the Indians? Those from Hindi speaking areas or the Tamils The Hindus or the Muslims? What about the Malays? From Malaysia or Indonesia? Will Hindus from the Jogjakarta and Bali areas qualify. So it is not just a case of Catholic Hispanics immigrants versus Protestant Anlo-saxons. The country`s short history has seen the fallacies LKY being exposed causing much damage.
The Name Lee Kuan Yew will be mired with controversies in the History Of Singapore.
Will it be positive or negative?
"Multiculturalism" has failed miserably wherever it has been tried.
This is not a "new idea" from Lee Kuan Yew.
However I think the threat is unwarranted in Singapore.
Singapore culture can stand on its own. Singapore culture has very little to do with any of the 4 main ethnic (language) groups. People are already fairly well integrated -- everyone speaks Singlish, everyone eats (too much) local food, and everyone "chopes" their seat with tissue paper.
No threat lah. Be Singaporean.
To me the sub-sets of Singapore culture are not Chinese, Malay, Indian and "others".
The relevant subsets in this day and age are (feel free to add):
1. Aunty

3. Sebay kiasu-kiasi

5. Kwai Lan
6. Ah Beng/ Ah Lian
7. White Horse
8. Banana
9. Chiak Kantang
10. Kayu people
11. Ngeow people

14. Action-Borak people e.g. favourite greeting: "Si mi lan chiau?!?
15. NS Man
16. Chao Mugger (usually end up working for government)
We need to be racial realist to be aware of racial issues instead of sticking to political correct lines that all races are equal. And one must also be a socialist to be compassionate to treatment of different people rather than shitting on them.
What LKY said is not entirely wrong. There are many race who would bring us back to stone age. Many past experiences have shown that you put a bunch of blacks in some of the most posh estate, very soon they will strip mine the entire infrastructure.

...etc. These are all facts, although few people may be different from the majority, the behavior of majority of the population justified the stereotyping.

lets put in this way, if the problem today is we have 6.9m true blue born and bred singaporeans and ceterus paribus (lousy infrastructure, high housing prices etc)... will we kao peh?? will we be equally pissed?

The Indians play racism amongst themselves? They play castes which is classification of their religious and social standing/status.
The caste system is racism. The fucking Aryan gangsters stormed into Indus/Ganges plain and murdered the local dark skin Dravidians. Racism were imposed on these hapless Dravidians then.
Slowly, the Northern Dravidians got Aryanized, speaking the same Hindustani language. The Aryan and Dravidian became the "same race". But the discrimination remains. The racism took a new name, the caste system.

Unity is strength. When people cannot embrace differences, they will be easily make use by their rulers to commit sins like invading others, looting others, raping others. We are different but we are also the same. We will all work hard so our children can have a better future. Why focus on what they separate us? We should focus on what will unite us - peace, love, joy, friendship, family - and those are the things that everyone wanted and really matters.
