‘You have escalated the threat’: Mahathir blasts Australia on subs

Australia’s planned acquisition of nuclear-powered submarines has made armed confrontation in the South China Sea more likely, according to veteran Malaysian politician Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In an exclusive interview with The Australian Financial Review, Dr Mahathir said an arms race in the region was inevitable after the creation last week of the AUKUS pact as part of Canberra’s decision to buy nuclear-powered submarines.

He also fears the agreement could prompt China to match its claims with actions in the South China Sea.

“This agreement indicates you openly regard China as a possible enemy and that, if it comes to the crunch, you might even go to war. Just imagine what war would do to south-east Asia,” Dr Mahathir said.

His comments follow those of Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who on Friday expressed concerns about the new security partnership.

According to a statement released by his office, Mr Ismail Sabri told Prime Minister Scott Morrison that Malaysia feared AUKUS could spark a nuclear arms race in the Indo-Pacific.

This would be the opposite of the peaceful coexistence on which AUKUS participants say the agreement is pinned.

Dr Mahathir, who dealt with three Australian prime ministers during his long first stint as Malaysian PM from 1981 until 2003, said Canberra had again proved that Australia identified as a European nation that just happened to be located away from Europe and the United States.

Australia looks west

“Australia keeps talking about the region, and about being much closer to the region. Yet, every time there is a crisis or problem, Australia looks west. It seeks friends from the West, not from the East,” he said over Zoom from his office in Kuala Lumpur.

The 96-year-old said the AUKUS agreement, and Australia’s role in particular, had changed the dynamic.

“You have improved your capacity to fight. Even if these submarines are not carrying warheads, they will introduce nuclear capabilities to the region,” Dr Mahathir said.

“So you have escalated the threat. This will elicit a response from China.″⁣

China until now has permitted boats to traverse the contested waters of the South China Sea. This could change, Dr Mahathir said.

“China has declared the South China Sea belongs to China. But it has not stopped ships sailing through, even warships. So far, China’s claim has just been a statement; they have not really been carrying out what they claim is their right to do certain things.

“If you bring in military weapons in the region and the alliance is supplying them with weapons, I think that will elicit some reaction.″⁣

Dr Mahathir, who fronted a coalition that won an historic victory in 2018 only to lose it due to infighting less than two years later, noted the Malay states had co-existed with China for centuries before the Federation of Malaya was formed in 1957.

The bilateral relationship has its frictions. Along with Brunei, the Philippines and Vietnam, Malaysia claims sovereign rights that clash with China’s view that it owns 90 per cent of the South China Sea.

Like other claimant states, Malaysia’s preferred forum for dealing with this territorial issue is the Association of South-east Asian Nations (ASEAN). Since 2002, ASEAN has been working with China to develop a code of conduct for the South China Sea.

The long process shows no sign of resolution but for many involved, the process itself is successful if it keeps armed conflict at bay.

‘We ASEAN countries like to solve problems through negotiation.’

— Mahathir Mohamad, former Malaysian prime minister

“We ASEAN countries like to solve problems through negotiation,” Dr Mahathir said. “Malaysia is a small country; we are aware of that. We value China because it’s a big market for us, and they value us because they get some raw materials from us.

“We have to live next door to China, and we can’t be confronting them.” In Dr Mahathir’s view, Australia and the US are trying to push ASEAN states to take sides.

“You keep on trying to persuade ASEAN to confront China, to be unfriendly. We cannot do that. The United States has a lot to contribute to south-east Asia. But so has China,” Dr Mahathir said.

In his view, the idea of a balance of power, “that groups of countries are a threat to other countries” is “an old kind of thinking”.

He believes AUKUS is the latest sign the West has not adjusted to the rise of Asia.

“In the past, you were very comfortable because Eastern countries did not have the capacity that Europe and America had, but now many Eastern nations – Korea, Japan and China – have almost the same capacity as you.

“They want to send out rockets to outer space and so on. Let them do that. Compete there; that doesn’t hurt us. But don’t disrupt our market.”

China is ready to reunite Taiwan by force if necessary. It is a matter of time. The writing is already on the Great Wall of China!

The white gods said AUKUS is here to protect us, from who?

And Australia will be in charge of our safety, with nuclear weapons to boot, if anyone tries to be funny with the white supremacists.

Can you imaging how this white guard dog would behave to the countries in the region when it is armed with nuclear weapons and knowing it can drop the nuclear weapons on them?

First on the list of fear would be the Pacific Islands, PNG, East Timor, Indonesia, Philippines....better behave when this white dog barks.

China must arm Indonesia with nuclear weapons to counter Australia. This is called balance of power.

Singapore must also set up a nuclear station on the Southern Islands, joining them together as one platform, as a nuclear base.

That AUKUS and the allowing of nuclear subs for Australia will elicit such response from Indonesia and Malaysia is expected.

They are both Muslim countries and have no love lost for the Whites. They have been at the receiving end of White Tyranny in the past.

Mahathir related this very telling factual episode, from the side of his country, not China, that when Cheng He visited Malacca, they came with peace in mind, open trade routes and left. When the Portuguese came, they looked around with greedy eyes, pretend to leave, but came back with warships to take over Malacca.

What the Whites have been doing for centuries around the world followed the same pattern. They came, they plundered, stole and destroy and carried out scorched earth if they leave. Nothing good ever comes from such encounters. The Native Indians of North America knows, The Natives of Canada knows, the Aborigines of Australia knows, the people of Diego Garcia knows.

Did the white colonialists apologise for the colonisation of Malaysia, Indonesia or any of the Asean states? No, they behaved as if it was their right to do so, to rob the countries, to loot and rule the people of these countries, even killing them and abusing them with no guilt or remorse.

They took the colonised people for granted.

When are they going to apologise and pay compensation for the years of colonisation and looting?

The colonised countries must take their cases to the ICJ to claim compensation.

China should start to offer nuclear submarines to Indonesia and Malaysia and see how the white men cry foul, cannot, nuclear proliferation. But sell to Australia can.

A better deal would be to offer nuclear weapons to Iran, with capabilities to strike UK. Then we shall see how Boris Johnson's hair will look like in the face of such a threat.

Betterest still is to arm Cuba and Venezuela with nuclear weapons, close enough to North America and see what is the reaction of the USA.

Even now, the sight of Russian or Chinese warships or submarines off the USA is bound to create hysteria, banging of marbles and hair tearing in the whole USA, lock stock and barrel.

To deal with such tyrants, the best solution is an eye for an eye, if you are strong enough or daring enough like Kim Jong Urn, tiny but lethal like the virus. By the way North Korea has been reported to have successfully fired a hypersonic missile a few days ago.

China is now forced to react to this Aukus pact being aimed at China solely.

1. China bas to accelerate the reunion of Taiwan as soon as possible.

2. China must build up her nuclear arsenal.

3. Australia has become one of China's existential threat and therefore has to be taken into China's overall military strategy and contingency operational planning.

4. China must form military alliance with her neighbours, i.e. Russia, ASEAN, Pakistan, North Korea and Iran.

5. China must help friendly smaller countries to acquire nuclear capabilities as soon as possible, so as to help them defend themselves against White Australia and USA.

6. China must stop sending Chinese students to Australia to study and cut off trade with Australia entirely.

The USA knows that ASEAN is slowly turning the other way by being more favourable towards China. The USA is using Australia and arming it with nuclear weapons, ostensibly to counter China, but also to send a signal to ASEAN that they are courting disaster if they take a new approach to change the status quo of trying to break free under the thumb of the USA.

Indonesia and Malaysia will definitely not tow the USA line for sure and make China their adversary. That knowledge is well entrenched. China is too important for them economically and too difficult to deal with being so close by for any confrontation to he meaningful. Cambodia and Laos are practically allied with China. Singapore, Myanmar and Vietnam wants no part of the USA attempts to coax them to join the war dance with the USA in countering China. Only the Philippines is the odd man out and with Duterte on the way out, things may change for better or worse.

Elsewhere in South and East Asia, South Korea knows how much more important is China to their economy than sticking their heads out to be chopped. Even India does not share the thought of countering China and is distancing itself from the call to poke China continually on behalf of the USA.

So the purpose of forming AUKUS and allowing Australia to go nuclear is not just to counter China, it is a veiled warning message to ASEAN as well. ASEAN should take a leaf from the Middle East with the planting of Israel in their midst and creating all the conflicts that comes with it. Australia will be the replica of that sinister plot.

The main goal of the Americans and Anglo Saxon tribe is white supremacy, white men to rule the world of coloured people. China is a threat to their dominance. Only China together with Russia can stop the white men from carving up the world as their empire and to rule over the coloured men.

Nuclear Australia is another step towards this goal. SE Asia would be under their control if Australia becomes a nuclear power, has nuclear weapons to boot and to bully all the countries in the region.

When France joins AUKUS, it would become FAUKUS. If they add in Canada, then it can become FACUKUS.
