Is National Conversation meant to be serious?

The Natcon has been a govt initiative to discuss about the future of the country and the well being of the people. I think this is the agenda. And I think this is a very serious matter and should include bread and butter issues. Or should the Natcon be about painting a wonderful future, a fantasy land to feel good about? Should the problems facing the people, especially the young people that are going to live the future be of a major concern and topic in the Natcon?

What do you think? Should serious bread and butter issue be raised and discussed?

Last evening I hosted two tables in a chamber of commerce dinner do. Most of these businessmen I invited r Singaporeans who have come to turn the wheel of life in Malaysia.

Many used to be hold middle management positions. But due to the happy-go-lucky FT policy of the ruling party - they have been marginalized and in certain cases even discriminated - leaving them no choice but to turn the wheel of life outside Singapore.

During the dinner, someone mentioned,

PM LSL once mentioned,

"we r all in this together"

Guess what Chin Leng. Every single person in those two tables burst out laughing - the rest of the dinner guest must have thought to themselves, these Singaporean businessmen have a strange sense of humor.

I guess that more or less answers your question Chin Leng.

Good day to you all

Hi Darkness, the deceit and hypocrisy cannot last forever. The beans are spilling and more will be spilled soon and the stench will be unbearable.

Why the Nordic, Swiss& New Zealand have high standard of living, low inequality, high birth rates, most jobs done by locals, they don't try to fix each others, by fixing each others we disgrace outside, calling ourself a first world country, they try to co operate with each other to improve the life of ordinary persons. This is a mature state, we are use to four fastest growing dragon, the best workforce in world, many use to admire, if they find out we try to fix each others what do they think?

With high access to internet, not like last time many have little or no educations and only access to MSM which is control by the govt?

Now most of the younger populations are educated, last time policemen wear shorts?

4 years of PAP elections campaign leading to 2016 is not enough huh? The best kind of conversation that will deliver your message is at hong lim park lah..

Is the National Conversation serious?

Of course it is, how can converting You be a pray pray thing.

The elite should just go through the motions, to appease the some of the complainers.

Fact of life: you can't please everybody. People will complain no matter how hard you tried. So save your real energy for stuff that matters. A NatCon is a farce. You have to play "pretend".

Sometimes when the task is pointless but you're obligated, just make a half-hearted effort and be done with it.

Singapore is governed by Confucian principles. A National Conversation is POINTLESS.

This extreme high pays, need high indirect taxes, $CPF & ca$inos to maintain it?

The natural venue for a National Conversation is in the parliament.
This is how real democracies conduct their National Conversation.
In the parliament.

So please.
Vote wisely for a candidate to REPRESENT you and your values in parliament.

Call father, call mother in any venue other than the parliament does not carry as much weight.

Contribute to National Productivity.
Vote in a candidate who represents your values to represent you parliament.
Than no need to waste time in Hong Lim Park and the social media.
Crying father, crying mother.

When at that time their pay is not so high did they think of so many schemes to maintain their sky high salaries, don't right?

At that time where got so many scheme like CPF lock schemes, COE schemes, ERP, GST, Levies, Casinos and invented many other schemes etc. If their pay is at the level of the Nordic, Swiss, New Zealander ministers level, which is one tenth of Singapore ministers pay, they will not have to think of inventing so many schemes to support their salaries, imported people from 2 millions populations to 5.3 million now aiming for 6.9 millions, many countries with huge tract of land do not use these type of schemes to import huge amount of people because they don't need to pay themselves sky high salaries?

It is another propaganda campaign very unsuccessfully conducted. How many times do they want to insult the intelligence of the voters? Vote opposition.

Advanced nations, people don't recognised them as advanced nations, they are likely came from a lower base, slowly they develop their local capability, to do high values jobs and skills, they can't use the third world countries method of cheaper, better & faster foreign workers, how fast, how cheap and how better then workers can go to race against the development of of machines and robots?

The growing influence of Darkness and his troupe is truly scary. When this guy first started he only had a very small acerage. Now it is so big and his name is known by all overseas singaporeans.funny thing is they all claim not to know him or have heard of him, very slowly and surely his influence is growing with singaporeans abroad. this is what happens when you make enemies with a man who knows how to fight .

Good for Darkness. He knows what he is doing.

The 'Dialogue Session' rather than it is called 'National Conversation' is for them to seize the opportunity to strengthen their influence over the citizens, following the defeat in the last elections.

Anonymous said...

Sinkies are daft to want to have dialogues with thr Rulers who have been lording over them. They have treated the people like production tools. They had digitized the tools to increase the productivity to reap more profits and are in the process of increasing their bottomlines much further. Now, the owners of Sin want the tools to do self repairs and some of the tools are programmed to do so.
Whatever the purpose is regarding the National Conversation, it is to further automate the tools to make them work longer at the lowest cost to generate the highest profit.

Absolutely, 100% correct.

As an anrcho-capitalist-libertarian, I'm thankful Singapore runs a reasonably "open" economy.

However when it comes to treating people in ways which FIRSTLY and FOREMOSTLY respects each person as a unique individual -- A Big Fat Zero.

Many libertarians wax lyrical about Singapore. I'm of the opinion that if you try to separate economic freedoms from personal freedoms, civil liberties and individual rights, you are going to get conflicts and lots of social problems -- like a dumbed down, functionally disenfranchised electorate.

A good week to you

Malaysians of descents other than bumiputra will most probably echo dotseng's observations, the same at respective tables in the countries they are in similiar to those on the other side of the political divide to their present governments in other countries

Malaysia across the border will be very interesting to say the least in this electoral year

Chua Chin Leng aka redbean said...

Quite similar indeed. On our side the FTs are like their bumis. Our citizens are like their non bumis.

To wit that I doubt that your comparisons hold on an objective basis, on a subjective basis that more could be done for Singaporeans yes,
But I believe the earlier cry was that they did not want a nanny government to decide.

Redbean

what would be of more interest is when the recession will come as per your predictive prowess.
