Time to recollect the unsettled issues

Nothing heard of the high motor insurance premium anymore. Or people are busy trying to find a solution in their wet dreams? Then the fear of being hospitalised by an expensive sickness and being bankrupted by the helfty hospital bill. Maybe the fear is no longer there and everyone has accepted the fact that this is it. Or people have found alternative solutions, not to be hospitalised when that day comes. The jailed CPF money in the hundreds of thousands per person, almost untouchable. CPF holders must have resigned to this fact. And the surging prices of public housing. But many will be jumping in joy. Huat ah! Good to many and bad to a few. So it is ok to let the prices go sky high. These are some of the issues that need to be taken out from the cupboard for airing now and then. Or else Rip Van Winkle will go back to sleep. Oh I almost forgot. The PR and foreigner issue. I am waiting to here from some elected representatives of the people to say something in defence of the citizens rather than the foreigners. Come to think of it, none have actually come out with such a stand. I may be wrong but still scratching my head trying to recall if there was any.

Hehe, Redbean

Everyone has moved on. When you find a glitch on your computer, you work around it instead of tearing your hair out in frustration. Same with all the issues you picked out from the skeleton cupboard.

morning wally, the beauty of internet is that you can keep on harping on an issue till you are satisfied, and no one can sweep it under the carpet and claim nobody is complaining, so everything is ok. no more issue.

There are many issues outstanding and very much in the public interest, but when someone says " enough, lets move on ", the MSM kwai-kwai stop printing anymore on the issues. All important issues suddenly become not so important and public rumblings die a natural death. See, no longer issues. Sweep under the carpet and everybody become happy again.

Harry Browne's classic "How I found freedom in an unfree world" is still relevant today as it was when it first appeared 30 years ago.

The NLB has 2 copies in its rare books collection. Book now — because there's a waiting list.

Unfortunately the NLB doesn't have Harry's last book "Why Government Doesn't Work"but you can download a 2MB PDF version here

WOW forget waiting in the queue for Harry Browne's book. It's available as 1.7MB PDF here

I think he must have given away all his stuff in his will.

BTW his investment radio shows are classics and I'm sure the archives are still out there for download.

What is the point of all this?

"Happiness", security and a sense that life is "worth it" doesn't fall from the sky — you need to work to get these values. Harry understood that well, but his strength was TEACHING that stuff to the world, and he wasn't shy about emphasizing the need for intellectual AND financial independence... because if you ain't got money, there is no way you can be "free".

You can say that again.

It works all the time and the Government knows. A lot of talk and brickbats about bad policies but nothing happens, and soon all will be forgotten, except in cyberspace.

They keep your money in CPF by force and say it is for your own good.

They keep on increasing HDB home prices and say it is still affordable.

They keep on increasing medical and hospitalisation costs and say it is still cheaper than New York, London and Tokyo.

They do nothing about the mini-bond fiasco and say it is a private matter.

And the most beautiful part is that they know they can get away with it. You can shout until the cows come home and they will continue to do it.

Come next election, a little candy and it's again a rousing mandate!

Getting rather tired of this never-ending story.

You see, Redbean ah, when cats and dogs have gotten too fat, after eating heavy fat meals days after days, months after months, years after years, they simply become too lethargic and they simply go to sleep. But will pretend to show that they are still working very hard.

Please don't wake them up lah. Let them snooze and snooze. They are enjoying their wonderful dreams in fairyland, fantasyland, paradise.

When the rot has set in, just let it rot for we want that day to come when people are totally fed-up and tired.

For we want that day to come when those mother-fxxkers get overwhelminly toppled like the LDP of Japan, like Marcos of the Philippines, like Suharto of Indonesia, like Mas Selamat's Great Limping Escape to Johore, like ....

You get my drift?

Fedup Voter, you can dream on. That will never happen in Singapore. Not in your lifetime anyway. Singaporeans are so easily conned by a little candy just before election day. They will make sure of staying in power for all eternity. They will " fix " anyone who dare stand up and be counted. Fear is a very potent weapon to use when you want to rule with an iron fist.
