Newater promotion during National Day

IN FOCUS: A story of how a team poured their heart and soul into enhancing Singapore's water supply and what's next for NEWater

This photo of the audience taking a swig from their bottles of NEWater at Singapore's National Day Parade on Aug 9, 2002 is on display at the NEWater Visitor Centre.

Cheering to Singapore's success and its future, more than 60,000 people raised their bottles before taking a swig of the water, which is recycled from used supplies after going through a comprehensive cleaning process.

At home, thousands of viewers took in the scenes as they watched the parade on their television sets.

It was a powerful image and one that would be forever etched in the minds of those who worked tirelessly for years to realise Singapore's ambition of having a sustainable source of water.

But despite the inspiring scenes, the only thing Mr Harry Seah could think about at that moment was how terribly wrong things could go.

"We could not even afford a single mistake because it was all about perception and it was on the national stage," said Mr Seah, who led the NEWater project. CNA

The above is reported in CNA. The team of engineers worked very hard and tirelessly to come out with this Newater to protect Singapore from water shortages and threats of our water being shut off. Thanks to their good work, we have now a National Water in the Newater. They might as well promote this as the National Water to make it more powerful. Be patriotic, drink Newater, drink National Water.

I dunno, but if there are other brands of natural water available on the shelf, I would not buy or drink Newater. Unless there is no option available, unless it is mandated by law. Don't get me wrong, this is a very good thing. My point is, if there is natural water, it becomes a matter of choice.

Why would Singapore need to drink Newater when natural water is available? If we do not have the wild ambition of increasing our population for the sake of growth and GDP, would Singapore be so desperate to go the Newater way, to produce expensive water and promoting drinking Newater as a way of life? Having a swig is fine. Having the Newater as a staple drink for life, well, I dunno. Mentally, psychologically not very comfortable a thought. There are other ways to promote growth, not by reckless increases in population which would cause more harm than good in the long run. 10m is good, acceptable, unavoidable? You believe in that?

Would anyone go to buy Newater for daily consumption when more natural water is available?

If the population is curbed and maintained at this level, would Singaporeans still need to drink Newater? At the way things are going, the population growth is going to go up and up, without limit, just like putting money into your CPF, with no limit to your age, until you die, if you are having an income.

There are many useful ways for Newater in the industries other than drinking. Why the need to promote drinking Newater when it is not necessary, when other forms of natural water are available?

What do you think? Can anyone honestly say, drinking Newater is shiok?

PS. Europe is short of drinking water. Some are contemplating processing shit water as well. This would be a good market for our Newater.

Drinking NEwater is drinking water reclaimed from the toilet bowl faecal water and urine of the 5.7 million population and tourists.

Newater is nothing new. It is merely a form of degraded used water recycled for human (inhuman) consumption.

Engineers worked very hard to develop a form of used toilet water with shit, urine and menses and other unwanted chemicals for daily use by the Shit-eater and Shit-drinker Singaporeans?

The more you consume, the more clever/stupid you will become!

A-Non-Yes-Mouse;

You are right.
It is showing that the Society is getting affected.
Things are getting more messy and awry.
The Food and Water Sinkies consume
must be a major factor.

As observe and notice by most people;
more and younger
people are emotionally, mentally and health-wise
adversely affected.

Once again,
I like to encourage my fellow-countryfolk who can make it to leave Sin to seek more organic living in larger countries

Cheers

An honest observation I made about water. I live in Hougang and I mostly drank Kopi-O. The Kopi-O that I used to drink in Hougang tasted starkingly different when I brewed the coffee, at my son's home, using the same coffee bags I brought there from Hougang. It must be the water there, but could that be the reason?

How to explain as to why the taste could be different? Boggles me!

Singapore is surrounded by water. Singapore is a tropical island with rainfall all over the year.

Why are Singaporeans being told to drink shit water when they is plenty of clean natural water everywhere?

What is this shitty business all about? Singaporeans do not have to drink shit water.

Newater should be known as Recycled Waste Water, in order to put it in proper perspective.

Calling it Newater is purely a very clever deception conceived by someone of exceptional deceiving ability.

If this someone were in the civil service, he could easily deceive his superior many times over.

If he is an Engineer, then he must be a very exceptional guy who could be deceiving many people?

Whatever it is, this is certainly a very big CON job, that so many Sinkies have been conned.

Whoever can con you into drinking shit water should be able to con you into anything else!

Just like the COVID vaccine, they forced you to get vaccinated, not about conning you.

By mixing Newater with natural reservoir water, refusing to drink is not a choice. You can avoid drinking bottled Newater, but that is the only choice you have.

But why need to do a promotion on National Day? Looks like people are avoiding shit water if they can. Give me free bottled Newater I would also refuse to drink it.

In Vietnam, you could purchase branded apparels and sports shoes for a low price. These goods came out of the manufactures' backdoor due qualities issues, but it also helped to recover some manufacturing costs and also serve the consumer needs.

The planned wafer Fabs in Woodlands and Pasir Ris was initiated for the 2020 vision of Swee Swee standard of living that resulted in the Water Reclamation plant in Kranji & Changi, which attained the Chwee Chwee standard of living, which in Cantonese is euphonious.

Global Foundries & Micron with 2 factories operates factories in Woodland while UMC and Siltronic operates in Pasir Ris with UMC currently expanding its factory.

Wafer fab foundries requires huge amount of 'pure water' due to the immersion lithography process to etch the silicon wafer into circuits.

Unless TSMC, Intel or other big boys setup shops here, we are going to have excess shi shi water capacity.

However, some of the later build industrial building has Newater pumped in for consumption.

I think backdoor stuff comes out of factories in every country. You can buy branded Wetern stuff like handbagas, made in China for much, much cheaper price than normal. Not fakes mind you, but real branded stuff. What are those actually? They are stuffs with minor issues that unless one examine closely, are not apparent and are classified as rejected branded goods. But they are still saleable, albeit at much cheaper price.

I wonder whether the makers of such branded goods agree with all this ongoing. It is not good for the brand.

So, beware that what you see is not what you expect.
