When would Singapore join the West in legalising marihuana/ It is legalised in the West, so must be ok. The West is always right and very safe to follow the West, like using mRNA vaccines, the world's best vaccine. It saves a lot of hard work, a lot of thinking, a lot of explaining if things go wrong. Just follow the best practices of the West, cannot be wrong, cannot be accused of violation of human rights, democracy or whatever. This is the way going forward. The dam is broken.

Hello RB, Singaporeans have always been influenced by the western culture. Ask any youngster why they love McD or KFC and they will tell you that they taste better than the Hokkien Mee or the Cha Kuey Teow. The teaching medium in school has been English. The internet searches are always in English. We must not blame the young for been more inclined to the west. When the children are out of school most will speak in English. Furthermore when the young children get home, a large percentage will converse in English. Let me ask Singaporeans, how many of your children can speak in their mother dialect. Very few right? Someone in the past banned dialect programme on TV? Who was that?
Control of the language and media, controls what one reads and thinks. Colonialism is evil and wicked, it killed and looted the victims. But colonialism as written in the language and books of the colonialists is good, glorious, from their perspective. It is like telling the bananas that it is good and right to steal from them, to kill their parents, to be their masters.
Children brought up reading this literature would grow up with a distorted truth and seeing the world using the colonial masters' lens. What is good for the colonial master is good. What is bad for the colonised but good for the colonial master is good.
What is good for the whites is good. What is good for China and the Chinese Civilisation but bad for the whites is bad. What ever the whites said is right, do not question what they said.

It's a shame that many people actually believe this crap. China and Taiwan were getting along fine and were working at ways of integrating their economies and societies (after all, they're all Chinese). THEN the US had to get involved. Same old story - interfere with another nation's internal affairs, send weapons and start the propaganda campaign. Add a little CIA action. Now we have a 'crisis' and China is a 'threat'. Can't the Taiwan people see that all the US really wants is an unsinkable aircraft carrier off the coast of China?
