The ethics of vaccine manufacturing today has reached a state that a few death is considered ok, acceptable, with the ridiculous phrase, 'the benefits outweigh the risks'.
When in the recent past has such an excuse be considered as good enough to approve the use of an experimental vaccine that has not gone through the due process of testing? In the initial stage of the pandemic when there were insufficient information and the fear of fatality was high, it was forgivable that govts could be forced to make tough decisions in a what if situation.
Today, they should have sufficient information on the probability of death due this virus, maybe still too early on Omicron, but generally there must be good enough data to make a reasonable decision as to the need to vaccinate children. Is the virus so deadly that children must be vaccinated now or never? What are the probabilities of children dying from the virus versus dying from the vaccines?
Is the risks of death of children dying from the virus high enough to justify vaccinating them? Are the benefits worth the risks?
The govt may have its own parameters to want the children to be vaccinated. Parents too must also have to weigh in on this to make an informed decision. Unfortunately many parents would not be able to do so due to ignorance, fear, emotion, and too many disinformation and contrarian views in the media.
When all the authorities, national or international, are no longer trustworthy, when even the number one scientist in the USA, Fauci, is being doubted, his credibility questioned, how are parents going to make an informed decision that would affect the lives of their children?
How could this happened in the 21st Century, so far away from the Age of Ignorance? Is the human race progressing or regressing?
This state of affair is so irresponsible and tragic. There is no individual or organisation that can be trusted to stand out to speak with a voice of confidence and authority for the people of the world when so many lives are at stake.

January will bring the Omicron challenge to our shore.
We should expect raw numbers to go up, just as UK and others have well surpassed their already record high Delta peaks previously.
While there will be a lag for serious and fatal cases to show up for the Omicron, we know the risk is not zero.
True, some of the early reported deaths were due to other serious illness, and not from Omicron per se - the Omicron was an incidental finding when patients were admitted to hospital for other serious conditions. They just happened to be tested Omicron positive after admission as part of hospital covid prevention SOP.
But some deaths were specifically attributes to Covid - these tend to be unvaccinated with other underlying conditions which increase their covid risks.
So we should expect fast growth in numbers, with some deaths esp among the unvaccinated.
Cases can double every 1-3 days.
But, as we are beginning to see in Gauteng in South Africa, the numbers zoomed up, and they began to see numbers fall in about a month as the virus finds fewer and fewer uninfected folks to hit.
The question is whether the Omicron infection provides reasonable immunity protection against the still raging Delta.
If it does, and turns out be mostly mild, then we could perhaps see the beginning of the end of Covid.
Let’s see if the things really work out that way - we will need to wait for 3-6 months to know which way the virus dances.
Meanwhile, we must be prepared to dance with the virus as it changes shape and shifts its course.
It’s a kind of race that we can win if we can move from a reactive stance, to start to get ahead of the virus.

Always the same question baffles me. Why are those tested negative at embarkation point, suddenly becomes positive upon landing, just hours later? Is there a big loophole, like fake vaccination documents being circulated.
Then there is the question of how long the incubation period for symptoms to appear. What happens when some boarded were tested negative, landed again tested negative, becomes positive days after being let loose?

No booking required for third Sinovac jab; walk-ins for mRNA booster shots available for those eligible
People who took their second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnarty or Moderna vaccine at least five months ago can now walk into any vaccination centre for their booster jab without making an appointment.
Meanwhile, all eligible individuals who have taken their first two doses of the Sinovac-Coronavac vaccine can now walk into selected vaccination centres for their third dose, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday (Dec 24).
These vaccination centres include those offering the Moderna vaccine and Raffles City Convention Centre, which offers the Sinovac vaccine and takes walk-ins until Dec 31 this year.
People aged 60 and older who have gotten two doses of the Sinovac vaccine can also walk into centres offering the Pfizer vaccine for their third jab.
"In view of the rise in Omicron cases globally and locally, there is a need to be boosted for better protection," said MOH in a statement.
About 29,000 individuals who have received their first two doses of the Sinovac vaccine are due for their third dose, said MOH.
Those who opt for Sinovac will need three doses of the vaccine to maintain their fully vaccinated status.
MOH urged people to take either the Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccine for their third dose unless they are medically ineligible to do so.
"Antibody levels from the Sinovac-CoronaVac vaccine decline rapidly within three to six months after completion of the second dose," the ministry said.
"Emerging international data indicates that while the mRNA vaccines, especially with booster vaccination, are protective against the Omicron variant, the Sinovac-CoronaVac and Sinopharm vaccines result in weaker neutralising activity and may not be protective."
MOH's announcement on Friday comes after it previously reminded those who took the Sinovac vaccine to take a third dose before Dec 31, as long as three months have passed after their second dose.
If they do not do so beyond the time period, their vaccination status will revert to "additional dose needed", and they will be subjected to vaccination-differentiated safe management measures.
MOH also said that from Monday (Dec 27), three vaccination centres - Bishan Community Club, Canberra Community Club and Tanjong Pagar Community Club - will offer both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine.
However, those who have already booked a slot for either of the vaccine types will have to keep to the vaccine they have chosen, said MOH.

1. MOH's data is not accurate and unsubstantiated.
2. They are mainly hearsay evidence cooked up by the competitors of Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines and Anti-China elements both in the US and in Singapore. Remember, there is a vaccines war going on.
3. MOH is pushing strongly for the use of the Pfizer and Moderna 'vaccines' in favour over Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines because Temasek Holdings has a huge stock of the Pfizer and/or Moderna 'vaccines' that need to be dispensed off because of the expiry date and the heavy cost of storage.
4. Anti-bodies level naturally drops a few weeks after any vaccination when the body is not infected. When the body is infected, the body that has been immunised with the traditional Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccines will produce the anti-bodies necessary to counter the viruses. Therefore, the use of low anti-bodies level as an excuse to belittle and denigrate the Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines is disingenuous and greatly flawed. This is a great disservice to those who have chosen the Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines for their protection against the Covid-19 infections.
5. The credibility of the Experts Committee is, therefore, highly questionable. It has already failed the public a few times in the past. So, take its advice with a handful of salt.
The next two countries to be hit by new variants would be Brazil and Russia, remaining two of the 5 BRICS countries.

Children aged 5 to 11 can now get COVID-19 vaccinations, starting next week.
Those born between 2009 to 2012 can get their jabs starting from 27 December, while those born between 2013 and 2017 can get theirs subsequently. 15 paediatric vaccination centres will be progressively set up islandwide for this exercise.
The children will receive the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty paediatric vaccine. SMS invitations will start going out to parents tomorrow.
