Lee Kuan Yew being ridiculed and disrespected so soon after his death

The family feud of Lee Kuan Yew is still brewing. I am not taking sides and do not want to be involved. What saddens me is that Lee Kuan Yew was the founding father or one of the founding fathers of modern Singapore. It is written in our history books. The least Singaporeans can do for him is not to badmouth him when he can no longer defend himself.

Today, everywhere, in the main media and social media, Lee Kuan Yew is like an old useless football being kicked around by anyone as they like it. He has been called senile, easily misled, did not know what he was doing in his last few years alive. He cannot read, cannot understand law, cannot understand a legal document like his own will even when he was the one that wanted it changed. And people around him could do anything they wanted with him as if he was a walking dead. Were these true?

What happened to the tough and sharp talking double honours top politician from Cambridge University Law School? Are Singaporeans expected to believe this is the Lee Kuan Yew they admired and held in deference, the man that ruled Singapore and brought Singapore from the Third World to the First World, highly regarded as a world leader?

If this saga goes on like this, soon this founding father of Singapore would have been so belittled to a point that Singaporeans would lose all respect for him, thinking and believing that he was a senile old man, a foolish man and could be easily misled while still alive. Dragging this man over a pool of mud is very disrespectful and unbecoming.

Let' spare this man and his good name and stop tarnishing him so soon after his death. Have some respect for the man even if you dislike him or disagree with him.

My God, when would this nonsense stop?

PS. This is reported in TRE in an article by Lim Tean

The Straits Times today have reported that sales of LKY coins and copper busts were stopped just hours after launch due to online criticism from netizens.

From the ST article ‘Many netizens criticised the latest launch, saying the medallions and busts in Mr Lee’s likeness went against his wishes, as he had said he did not want to be memorialised.

Facebook user Dereth Tan wrote: “Didn’t the late Mr Lee explicitly (express) his wish to not be idolised in such a way? Why is this simple request being disrespected?”

Some thought the use of his image was political in what could be an election year, while others said it was in poor taste to profit from his image through the sale of medallions and busts.’

Dishonorable Son still wants to use his Father's legacy and influence to convass votes for the Pay And Pay.

One time ruse of his Father's Death in returning to Power at last erection still NOT enough.

Now, have medallions and what's Founder's Centre to still convince the Daft Sinkies for the next GE.

Cannot stand on own and fight fairly.

Maybe so quick to jump the gun, LKY's name might not make it to the test on time in the World History book, maybe in Sg he will still last as Long as somebolee is still around. As wat the old man had said 盖棺论定 so let's not comment him further let him RIP & be grateful to his contribution to the making of this Modern SG.

RB .. don't cry for him la..
His family is nurtured by him n wife.. he had a BIG hand in the selection of the present CABINET as well as a lot of the job mps..
Perhaps there are chapters in old Singapore we have yet to find out.. why the old guards were jettisoned and all power gravitated to one person.. why the oppos at that time were labelled n jailed without even a whimper from all in the public arena..truth will eventually out n perhaps this is all unravelling. No need to immortalised him..he was a crude politician who took his tide n as with all tides..there are rises n ebbs

With or without LKY there will always be Singapore..!!!

Agree, with or without LKY there will still be a Singapore. But it could be a slum Singapura like some south Asia cities, filled with filth and not toilets in the homes.

Another example of "Stupidity Has No Cure", regurgitating without thinkng, just like a trained parrot or a tape-recorder:

Anon 9.50..there was already a colonial legacy of civil service..education..and housing (remember SIT?)..
No..LKY didn't walk on water don't perpetuate the fairy tale la

Anonymous said...

India also had a colonial civil service and much bigger. What happened to India?

And these worse than snakes people said cannot trust China, cannot trust Chinese. They can be trusted?

One is now a superpower and the other still in the shit hole. Singapore could be like India without LKY and his gang to build from the colonial heritage, or could be like Calcutta or Bombay.

// He has been called senile, easily misled, did not know what he was doing in his last few years alive. //

This is natural.
It's called growing old.

Getting up from the grave after you have died.
This is not natural.

So unless your name is Jesus Lee Kuan Yew ... you will grow old and die.
- you will never rise up from the dead

Actuall hor.

I was hoping for the pleasure of wiping my ass with a Lee Kuan Yew currency note.

Compare Singapore with Hong Kong or Taiwan lah.

This is more accurate than comparing Singapore with India.

Comparing Singapore with Hong Kong or Taiwan.

We can see that LKY and PAP's achievements are no big deal.

In fact, we are overpaying the PAP for their so called talents and achievements.

What is LKY and PAP's real talents?
1)Bullying Singaporeans
2)Telling stories and claiming credit

@ 10.03am

Hong Kong or Taiwan or Macau does not LKY or PAP.

They got die or not?

Wiping your ass with a LKY currency note is illegal.

lndians in lndia probably wipe their arses with newspapers bearing his images as well as he is a good fren and idolate by them.

@All, @RB,

Most sinkies have lost interest in this topic liao. Only $8,000-$20,000 salaried journalists and amateur political commentators still bother to write or talk about it.

As a blog on SG current affairs, should focus on topics that are of the present and/or near future.

Good to know PAP is using our tax money wisely on all these convicted Foreign Talents.

PAP leaders advise everyone, now even using e-advertising boards at bus terminals and mrt stations,

"DO NOT WEAR A MASK IF YOU ARE WELL!

Wear a mask only if you are unwell."

What is the motive advising everyone not to wear a mask if well?

They want to give a false sense of security - that Singapore is safe from corona-virus infections? You don't have to fear being infected?

It's like telling everyone to eat shit, if you are well. You only don't eat shit when you feel unwell (after eaten shit).

Anonymous said...

The Sin of exhorting the People not to use mask, much due to the Shortages of it, MUST NEVER BE FORGOTTENED BY THOSE WHO GOT INFECTED AND MEMBERS OF THEIR FAMILIES

IT IS UN-PARDONABLE SIN.
IF ANY PATIENT DIES BECAUSE OF THE CONTAGION, REMEMBER THOSE WHO MADE THE EXHORTATION HARD.

CoVid-19 Spreading (or Convict-19 Escaping) - Why Political Hacks Tell You Not To Panic? - Part 2/2

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has just declared a World Pandemic for the Corona-virus Infections 30 minutes ago! Yet, again, the WHO Chief, like many other chiefs and chieftains in many countries, telling people to stay calm. He is right. They are all correct. This is the correct approach, because panic can kill more than the coronavirus itself can kill.

WHO chief Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the number of cases outside China had increased 13-fold in 2 weeks. He said he was "deeply concerned" by the "alarming levels of inaction".

What does this mean? In layman's terms:

A pandemic means the corona-virus is spreading rapidly in more than 100 countries around the world at the same time.

It means that each and every country has now to act with a sense of urgency in tackling the disease, to arrest the spread.

It means that governments have to take extra precautionary and strict health measures in order to check, stop, delay, mitigate as well as to isolate suspected, potentially infected and already confirmed infected persons.

It means that individuals have to take extra personal responsibility to look after your own health and take necessary precautionary measures to protect yourself and your love-ones and friends.

It means total co-operation between the public and the health authorities in the dissemination of information - personal and public information.

While the situation in China seems to be checked and contained, as lesser and lesser cases have been reported and the death toll has reduced tremendously, however, imported cases are increasing in China, the situations in Europe, US and the Middle-East are increasingly getting out of control - probably due to their leaders' initial lack of urgency.

Now, Italy has closed all shops except food shops and pharmacies would close. This is the toughest lock-down seen in Europe. Bars, hairdressers, restaurants and cafes that could not guarantee a metre's distance between customers and non-essential company departments would also be closed. Italy has already closed schools, gyms, museums, nightclubs and other venues across the country. She has more than 12,000 confirmed cases and a death toll of 827. Nearly 900 people with the virus in Italy were in intensive care.

The situation in Iran - where the official figures are 354 deaths among 9,000 cases - was "very serious". The WHO had sent 40,000 testing kits to Iran but there was still a shortage of ventilators and oxygen.

Several other countries announcing ever more stringent restrictions to try to prevent the virus taking a hold.

Denmark, which has confirmed cases up 10-fold since Monday, is to close all schools and universities from Friday and will send home all public sector employees who are not in critical roles in the coming days. Denmark's government also urged the cancellation of events with more than 100 people attending.

India has suspended most visas for foreigners until 15 April.

Guatemala is banning European citizens from entering from today.

Dr Tedros has called upon governments to change the course of the outbreak by taking "urgent and aggressive action".

Iran and Italy are suffering now, many other countries will be in that situation very soon, if government leaders are still playing it cool! And giving WRONG Advice to the public!
