Trump thinks he can push a time bomb to Xi by forcing Xi to pressure Putin to end the war in Ukraine. It is not going to happen. We do not even know if Trump really said that to Xi as reported, unless we hear from Xi admitting to that delegation claim and what was his response. Trump can just invent or pluck narratives from the air that he will distance himself from later on, under scrutiny. Why does Putin want to end the war when Russia is on the upper hand? Trump wants to control half of Ukraine and Putin is not going to play into the hands of Trump.
The whole agenda of Trump pushing the ball to Xi is trying to split the good relations between Putin and Xi. Putin does not want any interference against his agenda and Xi knows that perfectly well. The two of them are on the same wavelength, despite all the attempts to throw spanners into their relationship. This has already been clearly shown by China during the early stage of the war, despite the pressure from the USA and the West trying to force China to take a stand against Russia, which China resisted.
China is benefitting much from the Ukraine War itself to say it discreetly, although it is an open secret. Most obvious of which is the cheap energy from Russia, which is fueling its manufacturing sector with cheap energy to produce even cheaper EVs and other consumer products. Why should China be the one to kill the goose that is laying the golden eggs? After all it is part of China's mission in the de-dollarization campaign and playing an important role in that game.
China is not going to sabotage its golden century after its century of humiliation. China is going to take full advantage of all the benefits that it can accrue.

Xi and Putin should do a public formal declaration that they're blood brothers. That ought to send shivers down the spines of the west. Can the western leaders do the same? No way, as Trump given the slightest opportunity will screw all his allies. The same with the other western leaders who are all for themselves.
The more Trump screws his allies, the faster they will realize they are betting on the wrong horse. Only those who understand the warning of Henry Kissinger now knows he was telling the truth.
Who is being more and more isolated is clearly visible. Is it China or Russia?
Xi and Putin cannot be blood brother la..different color, but Pineapple and Modi can be blood brother.
Putin would be on the side of the Anglo-Saxon Whites had he not been pushed towards China. Russia was already in the G8, not China, which goes to show how close they were at one point.
By heavens will, Russia was kicked out of the G8, demonized by the others in G7 after Russia took over Crimea. However, we cannot just look at this as an isolated Russian aggression as narrated by the West. After the collapse of the former Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev was given the assurance, albeit verbally, that NATO will not expand an inch Eastward towards Russia, an assurance which NATO failed to keep, and unimpeded expansion of NATO was carried out. Ukraine was even given the carrot to join NATO, which was the straw that broke the camel's back. Putin would have none of that, as it will give the USA a foothold in Ukraine to station nukes to threaten Moscow. NATO had already stationed nukes in Turkey earlier, which resulted in the Soviet Union stationing nukes in Cuba and almost started a nuclear war.
With Ukraine being given the choice to join NATO, Putin had to put a stop to the development or face the same situation as the former Soviet Union. The biggest winner was China now having Russia on its side.
