DBS a great employer

Can anyone tell the difference? Is this in India or Singapore? The common denominators, DBS owned. DBS employees. And a very comfortable recreation area for staff.

What a great employer! What a great place to work.

The Indian govt must be very grateful and thankful to the Singapore govt for providing so many good jobs for Indians in India and in Singapore.

Jobless Singaporeans see oredy 'lau nuar'  ie salivating in Hokien. for the Jobless Singaporeans, lagi shiong.

The bottom line is: VOTES.

To remain in power, the PAP leaders must continue to garner enough votes to elect them to become MPs and Ministers.

Knowing that the Singapore's birth rate has been dwindling in the past few decades, and not improving, the number of votes for the PAP can only decrease because of natural attrition.

Therefore, in order to increase voters for the PAP leaders, the only way is to import "loyal" and "beholden" foreigners to become new citizens, and therefore new voters.

That's the main reason of paramount importance for the PAP leadership in the Singapore Government to attract foreign "talents" by all means, at all costs.

Yes, the US Dems do the same thing---they import "brown people", allow them US citizenship and voila, like "magic" they have new supporters. Of course, some will go and vote for The Orange Man and his party, but on-balance the Dems end up having more people who'll vote for them.

In the mid 1900s, Australia had a similar policy: The White Australia Policy. When conscience finally caught up with the people, they got rid of it. However, in South Africa such policies of "racial superiority" continued.

Importing foreigners serves a 2 fold purpose:

1. To alleviate the problem of ageing demographics

2. As a sort of political "trade": "I allow you in and grant you citizenship, you vote for me"

Works like magic! πŸ§™πŸ»‍♂️πŸͺ„

All the one trick ponies. Bankrupt of ideas, only can think of building more flats to sell. And not enough Singaporeans to buy, bring in more foreigners.

Like that want to be paid million dollar salary.

KNNBCCB.

The million-dollar ministers are not worth their salt. They are merely put in place to prop up the lee dying Dynasty, a Dictatorship that has been going on for too long, masquerading as parliamentary democracy.

Singapore and Singaporeans need a drastic change in the political domination of the PAP Dynastic leadership where the ministers have become balls-less eunuchs unable to have independent thoughts.

Singapore's "enlightened dictatorship" works well, despite the occasional hiccup.

Who do you think these people are and where did they come from? 🧐

These "leaders" are Singaporeans, just like you and I, and grew up in the very same Singapore as you and I, in the very same culture with all its quirks and charms.

Why do people make the FACTUAL ERROR of thinking that the PAP is any different from the "average" Singaporean? In fact many of them are average Singaporeans.

Lau Lee ⚰️πŸ’€ has said over and over that a western-style democracy will not work in Singapore. Singapore has to be managed by one party govt and they can't afford to have any "clowns" in opposition.

Lau Lee was a pragmatist,---if it works, do it. If it is working, keep it. Don't be "enslaved" by any ideology. As a Mentor, he taught his PAP scions to also be pragmatists.

Actually, come to think of it, the average Singaporean is a pragmatist---they will do whatever is necessary to make their lives better, hence they are generally apathetic about politics.

And they are no fools either: they take one look at the SHIT SHOW the so-called "free west" is putting on for their precious idea; so-called "democracy", and the Singaporean agrees (quietly) with Lau Lee: "I don't want that stuff in Singapore. I just want to live my life in peace and prosperity, and go shopping and eating with my family and friends!" Mission Accomplished πŸ’ͺ🏽

Fortress Singapore. Keep on being awesome. 🍻

PS: I'm not saying I am a fan of the govt nor am I saying I'm in favour of a one party authority. As a pragmatic person I just go with where the evidence leads. My "feelings" are unimportant, and feelings are a poor metric for judgement.

DBS Looking after the insiders very well...because the insiders are obviously looking after DBS shareholders very well. Piyush is crushing it...like a BOSS! 😎

https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/quote/D05.SI/insider-transactions?p=D05.SI

One thing the TRE doesn't understand. Unless they have shares in DBS, the employees do not own the company they are contracted to work for. The company's management is free to hire and fire...the idea is to maintain profitability and grow sustainably so that ALL stakeholders are looked after...including employees who will have a JOB which pays.

One side of the "equation" are Singaporeans complaining about DBS hiring Indians. The other side of the argument is that probably hundreds of thousands of Singaporeans, many aunty-uncle conservative types are shareholders in DBS. Sharing in DBS success enhances their lives.

The best way to show a middle finger to DBS & PAP is to accumulate shares in strong companies like DBS over many years.

You won't get rich overnight or even in 5 years, but you'll eventually achieve TRUE freedom from a lot of BS e.g. family members that you hate, job that you hate, boss that you hate, company that you hate, your crappy house, your crappy neighbours, lousy healthcare system just becoz you cannot afford anything better, PAP, a shithole country etc.

Within 10 years, you can easily reach DBS Treasures or other privileged banking status where 25-yr old saleswomen will smooth talk high-fee products to you. Don't fall for it!!!

Within 20 years, you will achieve financial freedom to say fuck you to PAP & don't need to work if you don't want. Pay zero income taxes while still having fat income streams coming in for you to spend everyday.

Millies & zillies are short-cutting the above by going all-in on cryptos. I know 3 or 4 who are already multi-millionaires by 33 yrs old from doing all sorts of crypto shit.

But unless you know what you're doing, and willing to burn a few hundred or a few thousand dollars deep-learning, and sleep, eat, breathe crypto --- don't do it. It will be the fastest way for you to lose all your money.

@116,

That's sound advice, spoken like a true old school Buffett Munger "value" guy.

However, not many people have that long term discipline. I don't put those folks down because their situations might differ, also they'll have to forgo many "luxuries" for a long time whilst their friends and family are enjoying life in the present, right now.

WRT crypto, last year USD 14 billion was scammed off people dabbling in the space. It's no point telling people to "be careful". Where there's fast money, there'll always be PLAYERS. Human nature! 😎
