GE2020 - Lee Hsien Yang not in the race

The biggest thing that everyone was watching for in this GE is the election of Lee Hsien Yang into Parliament.  Lee Hsien Yang is the stimulus so badly needed for a dramatic change in the political arena. Unfortunately he was not in the list of nomination for the GE.

Though Cheng Bock has made his present felt, there is just so much Cheng Bock can do as an individual, a solitary figure taking on the PAP political machinery. He needed a few heavy weights, I mean really heavy weights, to take on the PAP. Not many are in this category to really move the people and make big changes to the political system and force the PAP to tread more carefully unlike before. A Hsien Yang would have made the difference. Alas, it is not to be.

So what can the people that are unhappy with the PAP, with its policies that many viewed as anti Singaporeans and pro foreigners, do in this GE? Nothing much really. Nothing really very much. There would be the possibility of one more GRC, ie West Coast led by Cheng Bock, to join WP's Hougang Aljunied GRC in Parliament if the Hougang Aljunid voters have not been swayed to change sides. PAP's weak team there also gives hope that PAP too think Hougang Aljunid is a gone case and not putting much hope in it. Any more GRCs would be mere accidents. So not much to hope for.

Would there be accidents happening in Holland Bukit Timah with Jee Say rejoining the SDP team to fight Vivian one more time? Would Lim Tean be able to attract enough votes on his own strength, his commanding oratory skills to make his day? He could not ask for more with Josephine Teo struggling under the pressure of unemployment, fake and funny foreign talents and Covid infections in the dormitories and tasked to lead the Jalan Besar team. Would the absence of Halimah in Marsiling Yew Tee opens up a gap for Benjamin Pwee's team under SDP to make a breakthrough? Would Gan Kim Yong be weakened and made to pay a heavy price for the surge in Covid19 cases and all the problems in the hospitals and allow PSP's newcomers led by Francis Yuen, an SAF scholar, to crash through? Nicole Seah is not going to make much of an impact in a fairly weak team and in the wrong place, against the PM to be Heng Swee Kiat's team. Bad strategy is all I can say, wasting a trump card in a losing corner.  She could have added strength to a team with a higher chance of winning, but not against Heng Swee Kiat, I think. The happiest guy and team must be Chan Chun Sing and the Tanjong Pagar team for not having to meet Hsien Yang wearing PSP logo. If there is going to be an earth shaking moment in the GE2020 election, it must be Hsien Yang bungling Chan Chun Sing and the PAP Tanjong Pagar team out of Parliament. Well, it is game over in Tanjong Pagar.

In the single wards contest there looks like some possibility of a few opposition candidates making it through the gate. Highly watched would be Paul Tambyah. Chee Soon Juan may be given another chance given the bad publicity and performance of Murali in Bukit Batok. The voters there have seen how he performed and may abandon him for the never say die Chee. There are some far fetch chances for Ang Yong Guan and a few others. The smartest move this time is Goh Meng Seng for taking on Ting Pei Ling, a pretty shaky MP, still looking very young and fresh.

At the end of the GE PAP is going to be the next govt again for sure and at most with a few of its MPs and ministers missing the boat. The West Coast team is going to sweat a bit more and feeling very uneasy for now. Everything will remain fairly unchanged.  More foreign talents, more changes to CPF rules, more taxes, more fare and fee hikes, more of everything that Singaporeans know best after every GE. Cry also no tears.

This GE is likely to be another non event. The only little hope is for a big ground shift given all the bad policies that the people are very unhappy about, the influx of foreigners to steal the Singaporeans lunch, Singaporeans unable to get good jobs, CPF like no longer Singaporeans money but money owed to the govt and the govt is collecting it relentlessly at all cost no matter how old a person is, no time limit, no age limit, etc etc.  If there is such a big shift and the voters would vote for anything as long as it is not PAP, then all hell will break lose. This, unfortunately is yet to be the case, at least not proven till after the GE.

Good morning Mr RB

Same sentiments here.

When I met the PSP volunteers or members putting flyers at our estate week back, they told me Mr Michael Chua be here in Tanjong Pagar.

Knew LHY won't be in Tanjong Pagar. But kept the suspense on by not posting it too early.

Maybe be helming another Constituency if plan by TCB.

As LHY had said. He won't be seeking political office on the influence of his late Father's fame just to win.

NOT good for continuity of Dynasty's rule. Meaning that the Papies so many Ministers and MPs are also related to somewhat one another.

Person must be elected on their own steam and capability.

Maybe, he is more like his Father in thoughts and took after him than his the other bro.

LKY had said that if any other Party or Parties other than the PAP is or are beter than them to serve Singapore and Singaporeans, then it would be better that they take over for the continued survival of this Nation rather than have his own destroy it.

That's why he even want to erase memories of him NOT for anyone just to use his influence to be in charge of Singapore incompetently.

Demolishing his own house and no statues or mementos of him.

Unfortunately, the Papies kept harping and using his influence just to win votes and elections based on his influence.

LHY tried to be Neutral..maybe he will stand for ploitclal office after his bro had quit.

Elected only on his capability and NOT on his Father's name and influence.

In a way, he be also telling LHL not to create a Dynasty by putting his son in by following his example.

We are deeply disappointed and aggrieved that Hsien Yang had made the wrong decision not to stand for election in GE2020 to lead suffering Sinkies out of their abyss.

Sorry to hijack your article.

To: East Coast GRC citizens, you now shoulder the additional responsibility of sending the pm designate into parliament. Be impartial and rational as you examine hsk's suitability as your pm. A pm needs to deliver lots of speeches, and thinks on his feet. A pm needs to inspire his people. It is not very convincing if he reads from a script. Besides, there is no script to solve the problems we now face. Do not risk our lives and future in this country because you sympathize his condition. The PM position must be held by the right person. Otherwise, all of us are done for.

There Is Still Hope But Time Is Running Out

LHY, the very person, together with his sister LWL, who is against having a Lee Dynasty, could have been afraid that his entry into politics and parliament would give rise to criticism of hypocrisy. His entry into parliament would also provide a very good excuse for LHL to put his own son into the parliament too.

For whatever reasons, good or bad decisions, the fact is that the Opposition Camp would be strengthened with the mere presence of LHL in the parliament. His chicken out at the very last minute indicates that he must have something to fear about. Behind the scenes negotiations or threats could probably have scared the chicken away.

Nevertheless, Rome was not built in one day. Therefore, Rome cannot be taken down in one day. It has to be taken down in phases. It has to finally crumple by it's own dead weights.

Dr Tan Cheng Bock has made some significant progress for the Opposition Camp as a whole, though not much. So, all it not loss. There is still hope. But hope is not enough because time is running out. For every five years that PAP is in power, five years' more increase in foreigners and new pro-PAP citizens, and increase in taxes and increase
in CPF contributions and locked-down are going to happen for sure. This is bad for everyone, except the Foreigners, New Citizens and the PAP cronies.

So, Singaporeans need to wake up quickly and urgently. There is no more time to rest in euphoria, past glories and stupidity cannot care.

Personally, I am disappointed and yet not disappointed by lhy's not contesting in GE2020. Had he joined in the fray, he does stand a good chance of winning. But then he would be bogged down by the daily running of the estate, which would be such a waste of his experience.

IMO, his decision gives him the time/space to act as the think-tank of PSP - an essential role that uses his experience well. Besides, we really have enough LEEs in parliament to last another 30 years.

Finally, I am so thankful that lhy openly joined the opposition. I believed this move is the reason why little li hasn't shown face in GE2020. Yes, lhy has definitely caused panic and stress to the dishonourable son.

Right you are Anon 9.55

As Lim Tean said HSK is one of the traitors who signed and negotiate the CECA with India.

See the aftermath of sufferings by our Singaporeans.

A PM is the ONE with leaderships like an Operations Man and NOT an administrative One with only good in pushing pens.

He must have the Confidence and Guts to deal with many savory and unsavoury World Leaders who may have bad intentions in taking advantage of your Country.

To protect the Nation from Harm and not just good in speeches and doing routine adminstrative duties.

An Operations Man in an Organisation is much valued and more important than just an Administrative One.

So, you must have a PM with gutso and guts to serve the Nation.

Fine example, LIM TEAN personality.

Dear Citizens of Bukit Panjang smc, I envy you for having the possibly the most outstanding candidate of GE2020 contesting in your ward. Prof Paul Tambyah who specializes in Infectious diseases treatment, is THE MOST SUITABLE CANDIDATE as our Minister of Health. We are currently still struggling with Covid-19, seeing daily cases in 3-digits. And possibly facing a wave-2, which is already seen in many other countries.

Qualified person like him should be in the mutli-task force to help us overcome this pandemic.
Please help to vote Paul Tambyah into parliament. We really deserved an experienced doctor to be our next Minister of Health.

Lim Tean is taking up the cause about this crazy fad for foreigners and CECA Indians. He would need the support of other opposition candidates to turn this narrative into a forceful issue to thrash the PAP. The issue is all about jobs and the well being of Singaporeans versus traitors bringing in more foreigners and giving them good jobs and impoverishing and destroying the lives of Singaporeans.

Make this a major issue. Raise the pains of the PMETs and young Singaporean graduates that have been pushed to the sidelines to make way for foreigners. Only if everyone of them is singing the same song would there be a great impact.

Set the agenda instead of letting the PAP setting the agenda.

Mr RB and SSO.

All is NOT lost.

Go thru the Opposition list of GRCs and SMCs that they are contesting.

After calculations, if Heavens ooened their eyes to save the Sinkies, we may have enough one third Oppo MPs to chiam see tong their whims and fancies passing laws to their advantage.

At least in this GE have enough capable and vocal Oppo MPs to grill them in Parliament and bring their blunders and the truths to all Singaporeans.

From there, most Will be awake when they find that the Real Truths always hurt.

Their children, they themselves are conned by them for so many years.

I will try to make a summary of their chances later.

To browbeat their por lam pars soothsayers of eyes already fully closed under their payrolls NUS what's hai kow yew lecturers of Gillian Koh and that what's ex NMP guy.

Also on the good side of the PAP.

P.S. wow a friend send me many posters of the PAP logo upside down in many constituencies.

This is the sign that they are ALREADY outside down with their foreign talents workhorses pinning them down.

To recap:

My hope and analysis the following that the Opposition may have at least 32 seats to counter their strength.

SMCs- 8 - namely Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Hong Kah North, Hougang, Punggol West, Yio Chu Kang, MacPherson, Marymount.

4 Members GRC- 12- Chua Chu Kang,Jalan Besar, hopefully Holland and SengKang to make further another 8

5 member GRCs- 10- Aljunied, East Coast.
Hopefully another 5 in Marine Parade

So total 30. Balance to win at least another 2 SMCs or 1 GRC.

If Tanjong Pagar Ho Seh make it 35.

Cheers

After elections.
How many chickens will the PAP take back?

Singaporeans.
Be prepared to pay and pay for the next 5 years after elections are over.

Because we will have to pay back $100 billion dollars that the PAP gave away to their crony companies during this corona virus.

CECA - The Traitors Within

There are several key personalities involved in preparing, negotiating, arranging, co-ordinating, drafting, approving and signing the Sell-Out CECA agreements. Not once but twice. These are the traitors of Simgaporeans.

To rub salt into the wounds, the traitors painted the picture that foreigners created jobs for Singaporeans. This lie is so stupid because nobody in his right mind should believe that foreigners create jobs for Singaporeans. It is the other way around. Singaporeans are thr ones who create jobs for foreigners.

Moreover, if it is true that foreigners create jobs, then what the fucks is the PAP government doing? It is the responsibility of the government to create jobs. Therefore, that is an indirect admission by those ministers that the PAP Government has no ability to create jobs for Singaporeans but must rely upon foreigners to create jobs for Singaporeans. That means the PAP government has failed the people of Singapore. The PAP is unable or unwilling to protect Singaporeans' jobs, rice bowls and livelihood.

With jobs, rice bowls and livelihoods in peril, uncertain and at the mercy of scavrngers from foreign land, aided by the PAP millionaire ministers, there is hardly any future to look forward to, for the majority of Singaporeans.

The opposition camp must keep emphasing these facts.

The opposition parties must aim to protect jobs, rice bowls and livelihoods of Singaporeans at all costs, irrespective of the state of the economy or COVID-19.

Under my radar calculations GMS finally will beat TPL in McPherson SMC.

She can go and hug her hundreds Kate Chungkol or Spade bags with her ENOUGH 16K MP part time allowances and also SELF employ allowances of 9K this Sorry Fund.

Now OPPO leaders fighting SMCs to better their chance to Parliament.

Phillip Jeya should have contest Radin Mas. Ex previous stronghold of his late Father's Anson. Sam Tan is no more. Papies Old angkors in Bukit Permai used to mention his name to frighten one and sundry like our 60s old time gangsters.

After so many decades of getting chicken wings, which they knew they have to pay back with whole chickens, the majority of voters still voted PAP, election after election. And the PAP knows, with all the bad marks against the 4G leaders, the massive dough thrown down this time will make sure it will still work.

And, for once, I agree with Imho at ll.41 that after giving so many angpows, a win for the PAP is still on the cards. Like it or not, it will still happen.

All through the years, majority of voters have this phobia of a freak election that will topple the PAP and have been hesitant to vote opposition. That mentality is still deeply ingrained in voter's minds. Kiasu and kiasi is the hallmark of the majority of Sinkie voters.

This is not going to change overnight and certainly not, when it is already too little too late (pardon me for being blunt), after the PAP has managed to consolidate it's position by out-maneuvering the opposition with control of the nation's kitty, the apparatus of state, plus the changing of election rules and veiled threats against opposition voters.

I too hope for the opposition to be able to make some headway this time and I have been a supporter of the opposition for over three decades and having been at the receiving end of policies that punished opposition wards.

But I think we have to temper our hopes and not be deeply disappointed with the results by being too optimistic. Optimism might even turn out to be a double edged sword that may result in total PAP control. Enough said.

The most fateful move in GE2020 that has huge ramification on Singapore's political scene has occurred and largely gone unnoticed.

PAP's Heng Swee Keat made an unexpected and last minute move on Nomination Day to East Coast GRC where the Workers’ Party’s popular candidate Nicole Seah is contesting.

The PM-in-Waiting Heng may have underestimated the appeal of the sweet Nicole. If Heng losses to Nicole, it would upend the succession plans of the ruling PAP in the tiny city state.
