'Lim Tean, Founder of political party People’s Voice, is all set to
organise a rally titled Abuse of Process at Hong Lim Park on 26 January
from 4.00pm to 7pm.
Announcing this news on his Facebook page, the
Singaporean politician and lawyer, said that one of the speakers that
will be joining the rally is Leong Sze Hian.
Leong, who is a veteran blogger and financial consultant, came to the limelight recently when he filed a countersuit against Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for the abuse of the process of the Court.'
I copy the above from mothership.sg. It said that Lim Tean is set to organise a rally, so I am not sure whether Lim Tean is still thinking about organising this rally or it is on and a permit has already been applied and approved. I said approved, as it can still be cancelled. The biggest rally was the CPF rally organised by Gilbert a few years back. Would this rally prove the same or would the issue be sufficient or important enough to bring the Singaporeans there to hear them out? The two speakers are household names for people attending rallies at Hong Lim but may not be crowd pullers.
It would be interesting if Lim Tean could convince Hsien Yang to be one of the speakers with Cheng Bock tagging along as well. This combination would likely turn Hong Lim upside town, drawing the same kind of crowd as the CPF rally. Could it be or would it be the case? At the very least, if Lim Tean thinks he wants a good attendance, he should invite the presence of Hsien Yang and Cheng Bock even if they did not want to speak. Their presence, if announced in advance, would surely be an incentive and motivation for the apathetic Singaporeans to want to make a trip to Hong Lim to lend moral support.
With the presence of political celebrities, never mind if they are 'sceptical veteran politicians', they would still make a difference in the attendance. If not, Lim Tean and Leong Sze Hian would be speaking to a few hardcore Hong Lim rally permanent residents. I would definitely make time to visit Hong Lim if Hsien Yang and Cheng Bock are there.

If the rally is supported by the Opposition Coalition with Dr TCB leading the way as one of the speakers, it may arouse interest and lure more Singaporeans to attend. Even if the turnout is not big, the fact that the Opposition can get to put its act together is bound to create waves. It will be unprecedented. It may be easier said than done. LT may have to work closely with other Opposition parties behind the scene to make it happen. The opportunity to work together has arrived. Seize the hour. Seize the day. A hundred battles. The right time to hold a rally is on a WEEKDAY during WORK HOURS. IN REAL (WESTERN) DEMOCRACIES, this is how it is done. Bosses (enlightened bosses) actually give their workers time off to attend rallies. Bosses often attend them too because : THAT'S HOW DEMOCRACIES WORK.
Have the rally during working hours. You will get much better attendance, and it is definitely more effective.
