PM Najib declares emergency in Muar and Ledang, API surpasses 750
Author: Online Press
(KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Jun): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has declared emergency in Muar and Ledang districts with immediate effect after API readings in the two areas surpassed the 750 mark.
Earlier, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri G Palanivel earlier this morning had said Muar recorded the highest with 750, followed by Bukit Rambai, Malacca (357) and Malacca City with (364).
The highest API ever recorded in Malaysia was in Sarawak in 1997 with reading of 860….
The above is reposted in TRE. The Malaysians are using the API system. I am not sure of the equivalent to the PSI. Whatever, the situation is dire. If this were to hit us today, many of us will still be having problems getting our N95. But staying in doors and using wet towels should help at least.
The respite we have may not last and the PSI could go north again, like in Muar. Be prepared.

mount ophir or gunung ledang is east of muar town. i think the smoke got accumulated in muar because the mountain is blocking the smoke from traveling further east. just a theory. same reason s'pore suffered more than jb due to many high rise buildings with shuttered windows. esp the recent mushrooming of condos.
Why PM Najib declare emergency?
API of 750.
If you divide over 24 hours is only 31.25.
PSI of 400 in Singapore.
Divide over 24 hours is only 16.7.
Isn't this the PAP science according to Ng Eng Hen and Grace Fu?
Singapore better than PM Najib.
We assess and calibrate on a daily basis, whether we need to take any action or not.
Meaning we have no system. No pre-determined criteria for action.
Everything is on an ad hoc basis, depending on what happens tomorrow.
"Meaning we have no system. No pre-determined criteria for action."

But then PM Lee is stronger in Singapore than PM Najib in Malaysia.
Just look at the % of the votes and seats won by PM Lee's PAP and the Sinkie opposition, as compared to PM Najib's BN and Matland opposition.
SO maybe a stronger Sinkie opposition can help, including how to better deal with the haze than what PAP is doing now.
But then how to get a stronger Sinkie opposition? That's the question.
Solving the haze problem is very difficult.
But it is even more difficult to have a stronger Sinkie opposition than the WP, currently the strongest. Even though the solution is totally within Sinkie's control, unlike the haze.
Why PAP talk about using the 24 hour PSI reading.
Why not use the 24 days PSI reading?
Or
The 24 week PSI reading.
Millionaire Bala says this haze is not a one-off event.
Really?
I first noticed this in 1997.
I wonder when did he and PAP first notice the haze?
"Life must go on"
We voted for these useless turkeys.
What to do?
Life must go on.

Why Bala and PAP wait for so long since 1997 to talk to Indonesia about solving the haze problem?
PAP.
Is your measured response and calibrated approach measured in units of millimeters and years?
Good to know. Good to know.
"Why Bala and PAP wait for so long since 1997 to talk to Indonesia about solving the haze problem?"

I think PAP talked to Indonesia a lot lah, since 1997.
It is just that the Indonesians don't want or don't know how to solve.
Just like Sinkies don't want or don't know how to vote out the PAP. And much longer, even before 1997.
Indonesians have been burning forests since 1997.
Why Bala and Sham wait until now in 2013 to ask Indonesia for evidence?
Is this the measured and calibrated PAP approach to haze management?
Why internet laws and population targets can legislate so quickly?
Because Singaporeans are easy to bully?
Why Indonesia haze trouble makers so slow to catch?
Because Indonesians not so easy to bully?

"In an unprecedented move, Singapore will send two ministers to the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Brunei at the end of June to discuss the haze issue."

When sending one useless Millionaire is simply not enough.
Indonesians must be so scared already.
Wah!
Suddenly two Millionaires want to know more about Indonesian forest fires.
A new phenomenon since 1997.
"Why Bala and Sham wait until now in 2013 to ask Indonesia for evidence?"

I think PAP ask before lah, and maybe the Indonesians don't want to give the evidence at that time lah. So maybe that's why the media did not report it last time lah. Because where possible, media only want to report positive news what, tio bo?
"In an unprecedented move, Singapore will send two ministers to the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Brunei at the end of June to discuss the haze issue."
Stop wasting taxpayers money lah!
Stay at home and save us the price of two 1st class airline tickets.
If you can't solve the problem in 1997.
You aren't going to be able to solve the problem now.
Spare us the wayang.
I think we need to solve d roots of the problems, ie to stop those burning . If need be we could offer to help clear those land n plantation at our own costs if the costs is juz a fraction of the financial damages impacted on us .. its not abt doing a free job for others but pure economics ...its quite scary to see last week our streets are quieter, less business less activity , n psycological fear that worst may happen ...its ridiculous tat our fate is decided by wind flows directions ...we r so helpless first time ...if there r some evils party out there juz pour toxics in those burning .. consequences r unimaginable .hence mr vivian , put onhold coffee session with low thai kiang ,drink more coffee with d indo counter part n quickly offer our help to help clear their plantation . I humbly blief u have d support from all of us , think abt tat ....indo side got plenty of cheap labour we juz need provide them budozzle n equipments ..quickly get the costing n debate in parliament ,
Straight up to the UN- Ban Ki Moon.
No more talks- waste time.
Sham said option to bring to International Community.
Singapore proposal, Malaysia seconder.
Don't waste time monies & efforts
" If need be we could offer to help clear those land n plantation at our own costs if the costs is juz a fraction of the financial damages impacted on us ."
This sounds so familiar.
Like over-paying a million dollar salary so that Ministers will be honest in carrying out their duties.
Pay people not to be corrupt. Pay Indon not to burn. Same same.
Indonesia slams Singapore haze complaints
...and I quote:
>> "Singapore should not be behaving like a child and making all this noise," Agung Laksono, the minister who is co-ordinating Indonesia's response to the haze crisis, told reporters in Jakarta.
[...]
"Unless [Singapore] wants to give us a large amount, we won't consider accepting it," he said. "If it is only half a million, or one million dollars, we don't need that. We would rather use our own national budget."
Wah. Steady lah mat. Cakap besar sampai semua orang takut, bodek mereka jatoh macam nangka busok!
It does take a certain kind of individual to hurl insults at his victims. How then, are the "victims" suppose to respond?

Damn right your are. It is a once in50 years event.
The better reading is obviously not that the burning has stopped, but the wind direction has changed.
The haze will return soon. The PAP has meanwhile covered its arse by informing us the obvious, just in case we blame them for not telling us so.
But the PAP and the Indonesians seems to be throwing the ball into each other's court, with the Sham accusing the Indonesians of giving contradictory information regarding the people thought to be involved in the burning. Must be interesting things going on that cannot be revealed or that might be too big to be tarnished.
Even if malaysians do not like this PM, I think he is still much better than son of lee conyou. At least, he is willing to stop school and work and not think too much into financial impact. Health is more important than money.
If Sinkies are paid and still given huge bonuses and life long pensions to prevent them from corruptions, the same kind of money should be able to stop the burning at the plantations in our neighbours.
Money can do wonders, without money nothing works.
