Tan Chuan Jin the new poster boy of PAP

It used to be Khaw Boon Wan the devout Buddhist, the one that was full of compassion and very in touch with the ordinary people. Many could identify with him as a good minister. Boon Wan was THE man to front the party on any difficult issues. People used to listen to him in his cool, slow and measured demeanour. This is all history.

PAP now needs another poster boy to carry the flag. Among the new ministers, Chan Chun Sing is obviously out. Then there are Lawrence Wong and Heng Swee Kiat left. Baey Yam Keng was noted to be the auntie killer, but could be too junior to front the party. Between Heng Swee Kiat and Lawrence Wong, the party must have found Chuan Jin has a better face. So Chuan Jin is to be, the new PAP poster boy to get the party out of difficult position.

Now this should solve the mystery of why an unpopular new media regulation needs to be explained not by anyone from MDA or the Minister of Infocomm but an acting Minister from the MOM. What relationship has the MOM got to do with this media regulation to have its minister trying to explain away the unhappiness of the netizens? Anyone got any clue? I don’t.

So it must be an issue of putting the best face forward, the best front man. If Chuan Jin can carry this through, his future is going to be bright. But with a very unforgiving and cynical internet community and a very unpopular regulation that is seen more as not only unnecessary but obstructive, a good looker is not going to look much good in such a situation. Hope Chuan Jin does not get a broken nose or jaw in the process, and keep his poster boy image clean. He could be considered as having done well if he got away with a few scratches.

After Chuan Jin, can’t see anyone else good or pretty enough, or likeable enough to be the party’s mascot, except Singa.

No lah.
Cannot say like that.
Who is Tan Chuan Jin?

PAP's only poster boy is LKY.
Why?
Because PAP is a one trick pony.
PAP's success is tied to LKY.

So whither LKY?

Ya lor, I also found it very weird that the minister in charge did not front. But we all know that's because he's pretty useless.

It doesn't matter what we think, it's enough if Tan CJ's boss thinks he has done well, his star will shine brighter.

Sad, isn't it? Of the new batch of PAPpies, only TCJ has the EQ to be the poster boy. No heavyweights in the current batch, unlike the old guards.

Maybe should increase the ministerial pay to $5million?

Every corporation has its spokesman/woman as their public face. Of course they will choose who they think is the most "suitable" in context of course.

Sg.Gov runs itself and the city state as a corporation. Singapore is a corporate state. Capitalists are given their "perks" -- low tax, business-friendly regulation, private off shore banking; the working class are given their CPFs and HDBs, baby bonuses, New Singapore Shares (NSS), Economic Restructuring Shares (ERS), and whatever they can come up to "bribe" the local peasantry who become "restless" every so often.

If he does not see anything wrong, in bypassing the public consultation and the Parliament when something as controversial as this is implemented with such haste we need to worry.

In fact he is defending the regulations.

The whole process is in question isn't it ??

Beg you please give more respect to the Parliament.

Why you all never ask the question:

Why isn't Lee Hsien Loong considered the poster boy for PAP?

Why is the poster boy job out-sourced to Tan Chuan Jin?

There are smarter people in SG way better than Tan Chuan Jin. Problem is under the current system, all these people would not want to work and stooge under LHL.

Chen Show Mao is an example. There are many more Chen Show Mao.

The problem is they are afraid of intelligent ones cos they are also usually non submissive. They rather have the average intelligent but submissive ones.

This general is a joke. He cannot even conveyed his message properly and how many still think he can command the army? Meritocracy is a myth in this small island.

The problem of being afraid of intelligent people is the main reason that caused the downfall of many dynasties. This is also why I think the Lee regime is coming to an end while the PRC central government will last for many years to come.

Many of them are planning what would they do after 2016. Many would no longer be in parliament. Everyone is asking, 'Would it be me?'

They have secured a few properties in a few countries aboard and will move there. Several EU countries are now offering PR status for people who buy a property above 200 or 300k euro.
