Jennifer Granholm – Ignorance is no blessing

The ex governor of Michigan, Jennifer Granholm, has told Trump to look at Singapore as a role model for creating jobs. As they said, ignorance is bliss but not when national policies affecting the livelihood of Americans are concerned. The recommendation by Jennifer to use Singapore as a role model is at best out of ignorance, a lot of superficialities, and at worst, shallowness.

The situation and conditions in Singapore are so far from what she thinks they are. She came to the conclusion by talking to a few ‘business roundtable of CEOs’ that recommended Singapore to her. I would agree if I were an American or foreign CEO looking for a job in Singapore. The point is that Singapore is so lack of top talents that anything that walks on two legs, and is foreign, is good to become CEOs in Singapore. And many foreigners are enjoying this fascination and attention in Singapore.  The Pinkerton Syndrome is thriving today with renewed enthusiasm in the heads of boys and girls in charge. It is thus only natural that Singapore is a goldmine to these CEOs.

The realities in Singapore are very different. Other than the silly obsession with anything western or foreign, Singapore is creating good jobs for foreigners to the tune of more than half a million managerial, executive and professional positions but with its own people increasingly losing their jobs, especially the Singaporean PMETs to foreigners. The myth that foreigners are here to create jobs for Singaporeans is receiving all the cynical comments by the thousands of Singaporeans losing their jobs and ended up as taxi drivers.

Is this what the Americans want? Is this what Trump wants, bringing in more foreigners to replace Americans and making more Americans losing their jobs?  Didn’t Jennifer know that Trump rose to the Presidency promising not to bring in more foreigners and to create jobs for Americans? Is she recommending to Trump to follow Singapore, to bring in more foreigners to take jobs from citizens?

A little knowledge is dangerous. This is a case of superficiality out of ignorance and talking to the wrong messengers. Trump would blow his top if this recommendation is put up to him, together with TPP is good for the Americans.

PS. This Jennifer should note that Singapore created more than half a million good jobs for foreigners. How many good jobs did foreigners create for Singapore, or causing more Singaporeans to lose their jobs?

When the PAP marketed Singapore to MNCs, it promised the MNCs that they would have unfettered access to cheaper foreigners. So when the MNCs relocate to Singapore, they employ the cheaper foreigners. The PAP gained, the MNCs gained, the foreign workers gained. Singaporeans not only are left out of the equation, they ended up having to pay for higher costs of living and overcrowdedness in public spaces and hospitals as a result of the influx of foreigners . . .

"If Tim Kaine is your nice dad, then Jennifer Granholm is your weird mom who tries just so hard to be hip and jiggy wit it." #loveit

"Can we all just take a moment to appreciate that Jennifer Granholm just low-key quoted Lilo & Stich." #DemsInPhilly

RB

But not all its own people are losing their jobs to foreigners lah. Only some.

At least 70% still have jobs and are happy enough with their jobs to vote for PAP. That's why the opposition got thrashed so badly that even their best and strongest team won only by the skin of their teeth in the last election. Needless to say, the rest all lost, some very badly some more, including an Oxford graduate, and winning only 20+ % votes! Embarrassing, isn't it?

Maybe that's what the ex governor of Michigan, Jennifer Granholm, think so too.

That's why she is recommending to President elect Trump to follow Singapore so that Trump can win 70% votes in his next Presidential election, or rather re-election.

Tiok.
And should we also ask?

"Over the last 50 years, did Singaporeans create more than half a million good jobs for PAP and PAP Aristocrats?
And in return, how many good jobs did PAP create for Singaporeans?
Or did PAP cause more Singaporeans to lose their jobs?"

Are the above questions fair?

True lah, but they comprises only a minority of Singaporeans, maybe 30% or less.

Because ah, if the majority are like that, for sure they will not vote for PAP, tio bo?

But that's not the case. Conclusion. Majority are OK. In fact perhaps PAP, being govt, has all the data about how many Singaporeans are still OK.

Anonymous said...

Or did PAP cause more Singaporeans to lose their jobs?"
9:26 am

Doesn't matter, as long as majority still got their jobs.

In 2011, 40% lost their jobs and were so angry that they did not vote PAP.

So PAP took corrective action to rectify and improve, and by 2015, this was reduced to 30%.

Jennifer Granholm was long ago as governor of Michigan. It was 2003 to 2010. Under her governance, JOBLESS rate rosed high. Jen Granholm since then became a professor talking cork. She spoke for Hillary Clinton in Democrat Convention. Latest: she join CNN this week as commentator to welcome Hillary s best friend Trump to become President of United States: Nice.
After each debate for election, CNN would put up its survey Hillary above 50% and Trump below 50%. Trump loves CNN so much that he refused to take question from CNN reporter at his first press conference.

So Jen Granholm is new fire power in CNN against Trump, president in next 48 hours. Trump so far managed to tame General Motor, ford, walmar, carrier, what more for keeping jobs in US. This is real, not Jen Granholm that time kept Jobless rate high and now telling Trump to do the same like Singapore does and did. Will Trump listen to a CNN commentator? Will Trump listen to a Hillary staunch supporter?

If someone with some logical thinking, similar to CNN putting Trump as far lower % than Hillary after each debate, Jen Granholm s advise to Trump certainly is a setup to trip Trump, correct? In other words, Jen Granholm who practised as governor should have had her chance to practise what Singapore did: open up the job markets for indians to come in millions, Michigan under her care was in soring jobless rate, high high. If Trump is a fool and listen to Jen Granholm, Trump will be commanded by the team of tigers and lions he hired as his ministers. I saw Trump is doing well. He has his own thought about job priorities for USA folks.

In short, Trump does not care if Hillary s open border theory will work for US. If he did, he would have lost in election. Trump did the exact opposite of open border, similar to Briexit.

Both Trump s thinking, and US voters thinking, and UK Briexit thinking are coincide.
UK has 12 point plan to leave EU. The key point of the plan is: to have absolute control on immigration into UK. Got the point right? Trump promised to create a great wall along US and Mexico. Tax china goods at high tariff.

Trump s solution is similar to Briexit: control the border to steal jobs from US. Singapore s solution is to control citizens on jobs so that foreigners can take away the jobs from citizens. What happen now? U can see shop closing. Or new shop open for 6 months and shut the doors. Jen Granholm is teaching Trump to follow this way. U think Trump will even look at Jen Granholm at CNN as new commentator?

Still hoping PAP to create more jobs for you?
- You better hope they don't collect more money from you this year.
- creating good jobs for Singaporeans is beyond their competence

Anonymous said...

12:02pm
It is Pap s policy not to create jobs for Singaporeans. There is no competence on creating jobs. A jobs like writing accounts, checking cash is every where in shops or offices.

The Pap give S pass and E pass then convert these passes to PR. This is the core policy of Pap. They do not care if citizens have jobs or no jobs. Giving passes to foreigners is under Ceca signed with other country must do.

No job? Not possible to the ministers. The statistic is lower than 1% no job only. The ministers will continue to issue E employment pass S pass and PR to indians.

Not working? It is "spur not stuck onto hides, not my problem" one old man said this. It is gold standard to Pap.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't matter, as long as majority (aka 70%) Singaporeans still voted for PAP simply because it is beyond the competence of the opposition to be the govt.

I mean, when the strongest opposition said they are not ready to be govt, who else in opposition is ready, u tell me lah?

That's why PAP is so arrogant or don't care when dealing with Singaporeans, because Singaporeans are too expensive and also not enough of them to generate GDP growth.

Overheard during coffee break two weeks ago in town one guy sounds like businessman telling the other chap to be careful cos he got info some fellas intend to run rd after cny

H3 told the other fella cannot supply too much goods on credit to some that high chance could run rd (from) Feb onwards .......

Would there be a wave of run rd closure on the card?

Anonymous said...

U r the sharpest commentator here. It is true. I saw one shop selling foods. Open 6 months and closed. The sign board was there, the seats and table were there, but the fridge took away. Run road is a risk to landlord. Not only the owed rental not paid, still need to pay for clearing the old sign board and furnitures to rent to next fella.

The wave of run road could be around april period. After cny for FB, march and april has to pay up the bills after 60 days of Otang. If those offer 90 days or 120 days, they ask for the problems, as money will be hard to come by after April.

Pap wants these shops to close, no way they can survive without good customers to spend high. Good customers are foreigners they do not spend on local shops, they ship the money back to mumbai. Pap will hire more from mumbai to ship the money away. This is the policy voters must respect lah. Shops should hire people from mumbai and those with master in south pacific island university. Hire them then they will spend on the shops. If not they will ship the money back to mumbai because they are civil servants here.

However if they had done it a little less enthusiastically, Singapore wouldn't have this xenophobic problem.

So the ivory tower policy makers such as Botak thinks that those ex-pmets cab drivers have 10 years savings to pay for his family while attending courses?

Basically, this Botak's call for "retraining" is an after-thought policy?

Why not send some of his SMOSes who are in charge of economic matters in some ministries but many (are) probably exonomic ignoramus (who may not be able to pass (even) the baisc iGCSE "O" or "A" economic exam) to attend a 5-yr exonomic part-time degree course?

Can they cope (with the studies even though some of them are single without any family to care for)?

Statistcally, how many ministers can take a new degree course now to learn new skills while on their full time job?

Botak supposedly thjnk he has a brilkiant mind so why not he lead by example and go sign up for a 5-yr part-time AI (Artifucial Intelligence) degree course while holding on to his minister job?

CIA is not willing to recognize President-Elect Donald Trump as the new President of USA and is secretly carrying out President Obama's agenda. As such, CIA is by-passing President-Elect Donald Trump.

The CIA's Plot is not only to assassinate President Trump but also to invade Russia. At present US Troops are now in Poland, at the Russian border. President Putin of Russia has issued Highest Alert Status to the Russian Military Commanders.

OK, here are the real numbers.

My verdict: being poor really sucks. However it is better to be poor in Singapore than anywhere else.

I like Prof Yeoh. He seems a fair-minded, even-keeled and very intelligent fella. Even though he works for the govt. he's doesn't hold back criticising their policies which have clearly failed the people.

He presents the verified figures, and offers solutions. Whilst I have a few issues with his "scientific method" and the way he interprets the data, I will say generally he's talking sensibly and is on the right track.

He makes an interesting point that if the cuntry really wanted to, they could wipe out poverty tomorrow. The cost: 1.6 billion. Considering Singapore has a structural surplus of mid-20 billion dollars.

This was May 2016. Say, 25 billion dollar surplus. 1.6 billion solves the poverty "crisis". That leaves 23.4 billion dollars.

Size of workforce ~ 4 million (includes those who are capable of work but are unemployed. It's about 2%)

If the govt gave a "tax return" (aka some of the money it took in taxes) or "hang bao" if you want to make the govt look "kind and generous" 🤡 , of SGD460 to each worker employed and unemployed, The State will still have 5 billion dollars left over in SURPLUS. 💰💰

Some fool from the Singapore parliament might say "5 billion surplus is too small. What if there's an emergency?" 😜 What fucking 'emergency'? How many fucking years have gone by without an "emergency'❓ Which means the surpluses have been adding up...ok, ok got a few years with deficit budget, and SARS was probably the last emergency...but the cuntry covered all of that, and after sometime, life went back to normal. And the reserves have been swelling. (> 250 billion USD as of December 2016)

That's like 46,000 USD per person. Compare that with "poor" China's 3 trillion in reserves which works out to an embarrassing 2k + per person. (China, go fuck spider lah)

Anyway, here's the video of the talk by Prof Yeoh
