For her to visit China and behave like she is a national leader and talking rubbish is unacceptable. It is bad protocol and disrespectful. It is right for China not to accord her VIP treatment and deal with her like a civilian visitor. She asked for it. Yes, make her go through the normal custom and immigration protocol to let her know that she is just a silly little woman. As Politico writes, “Macron was given a red-carpet state visit, complete with a banquet, while von der Leyen got only the briefest of meetings with China’s president and was then attacked by Beijing commentators as a US puppet."
