Covid19 - KNN, Delta Variant made everyone looked so bad

SINGAPORE: Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said on Friday (Sep 24) that despite Singapore's many safe management measures, the Delta variant "did not follow our script".

"It transmitted through the community and is driving up daily cases much more quickly than we expected, before our ramp-up plans were fully implemented and before our support systems are fully in place," Mr Ong said at a COVID-19 multi-ministry task force virtual press conference where more restrictions were announced.

But Mr Ong said that this is the nature of the virus, and that to avoid putting the healthcare system under strain, Singapore is "tapping on the brakes" to slow the rise in cases even while stepping up plans to increase the number of COVID-19 hospital beds and other measures.  CNA

The above is reported in CNA. In short it said how the MTF were planning to deal with the Delta Variant methodologically, every step meticulously planned, something like Day 1 it will be like that, Day 2 we will do this, Day 3 we will do that, Day 4 this is what would happen....so on and on, and we will craft a happy ending to this fantastic plan and everyone will be so happy and live happily thereafter.

What a marvelous plan, and imagine how much effort were put in to chart the movement of the virus according to the wish of the MTF. But, KNN, this Delta variant is such an asshole. It refused to listen and went ahead to do what it wanted, went out of control. How irresponsible is the Delta variant. It was supposed to do this and that, on such a day and time, it was supposed to move according to our plan. How could it misbehaved like that? Didn't it know that it must do as told by the govt? Did it know that it must not do anything if the govt did not say so? It did not even follow the road signs. No U turn sign it also made U turn.

What a rude and wayward virus, dared to disobey the govt and not follow the govt's plan. Now the whole detailed plan of the Millionaire Task Force is in disarray because of the ill mannered and out of control virus. It just refused to behave like the daft Singaporeans. And it made the millionaires so mad and looking so distraught, disheveled, so disorganised and so incompetent.

All because of this naughty virus. Everyone is looking so bad. Whistle has not blown yet and the virus started to run all over the place. KNN.

Huat ah! 2000 target hit. Next target 5,000!

Ong Yeeeee KoĆ²oning never do NS is it?

He doesn't know that only those who did NS will kwai kwai obey orders mah.

The Delta Variants from India are similar from the CECA Indians mah. He is the one who was very involved in getting the horrible CECA Pact done in favour of India Indians mah. He don't know meh?

Same same, they never do NS leh. So they no follow laws and no follow orders lah.

Why Ong Yeeeee Koooooning so stuuuuuupid?

How can be Ministar like that? Wasted all taxpayers' money paying him $millions and give us this kind of immature, childish and stupid reasoning?

Now made a big blunder and trying to cover up by telling us to change our mind set. He and his two other stooges better change their mind set themselves. Otherwise, all Singaporeans are going to suffer even more.

Some more wants to be next PeeAyam!

Make my little five year old nephew laugh and laugh until cannot stop, until I also laugh.....

Hahahahaaaaa.....

What is the Hell Minister talking about the Delta Variant not following the script. He thinks this is a Media Corpse drama where there is a script to follow? Bette still why not arrange a meeting with the virus and ask them to have an agreement to follow our script. This is going from the ridiculous to the atrocious. If the virus follows anyone's script, there may not be so many deaths and infections around the world.

All said, the virus is looking for loopholes, not what fully implemented plans we have in place to stop them. Let us see how with 100% fully vaccinated aided by booster shots stand up against the virus going forward.

So, it is the virus not following the script that we have landed in this situation. I rest my case.

Maybe the Delta Variant from India was part of the deal in the CECA agreement. LOL

This government is really too much, did they actually plan and consider everything ahead or just been reactive ?

Family member gonna virus, all member registered for QO, because of his age need to send to hospital. The MOH only send to hospital 4 days later after numerous call, then days later receive QO SMS asking us to take PCR test. one of the member living in the house test positive, and the whole family get quarantine for another 10 days, total of 20 days inside house.

So they spread the virus uncontrollably because they want us to live with covid aka endemic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ree1UrofEQ
So the the official video released yesterday is that after QO 10 days no need for PCR testing anymore. Then my question to this government, so right now it is proven the virus is spreadable from family to family, and because we self-discharge, it is likely to spread to colleague because no more PCR testing require to confirm. Then may I ask isn't it probable that any those discharge is likely to be sent to another QO if company perform ART testing as mandatory ?

How is it the rule can so bitwise without considering all these issues ? If you want to be be endermic, testing need to be remove because the chance of testing positive is high. Right now, people who finish QO can only try their luck to ensure that they are not test again, otherwise test positive back to 10 days QO. Deja Vu

How is it this going to help those who feed the family and economy ?

The fault is that we placed so much emphasis on just drafting 'book-wise' talented scholars into politics and sidelining those lesser educated but with real foresight and experience, that we just lost our way. Inbreeding cannot produce the kind of pragmatic Government that we started off with in the first place.

Minister Ong Yee Kung, Sir!

Let me give you my good advice.

You must invite the COVID-19 Coronaviruses to your house and give them your direct orders and also make them do rehearsals after rehearsals, so that they can follow your script to the T. Like that also don't know?

If you scare to get infected, then arrow to the Experts Committee to do rehearsals with the Corona viruses to make sure they understand, memorize and follow your beautifully planned script.

Quick quick, go and do it. No time to waste already. Time is money!

Now that 2,000 target is so easily hit, 5,000 is just a matter of time.

Let's prepare the people to expect 10,000, 20,000 ....

Let' hope Singapore would not be seen as another basket case like India and shun by the rest of the world.

Cannot imagine the Americans would be the first to put up a travel warning to stop Americans from coming here.

I wonder whether other countries had so many, many rules and regulations - code green, orange and red. Then there were the back and forth rules about dining - can dine in, then cannot, then only two person, then five, then eight, then back to five, then back to two. Then the different signals - heightened alerts and what not. Then the initial no need mask if you are not sick, then must wear mask or be fined. Then the strict isolation at specific locations of those infected, but now at home infecting more people.

The elderly are confused by all the hip hopping, difficult at their age, the working class told to work at home by default, then should return to office, then half this and half that. The whole country is mentally sick of all the ever changing rules and regulations and are going mentally insane.

COVID-19 infections hit new record high of 2,236 new confirmed cases in Singapore.

Five more old people, who could have lived longer, died. Thanks to the Millionaires Ministers Task Force for giving the Coronavirus Delta Variants from India a free reign to cause havoc to the old senior citizens.

All five had various underlying medical conditions. All those over 50 years old must have some underlying or overlying medical conditions. Don't the Ministers know this fact? Don't the medical experts know this fact? Don't the Ministry of Health know this fact?

Singapore Virus Debate Sowing Rare Disquiet in Ruling Party

Senior members of Singapore’s ruling People’s Action Party are concerned that mixed signals from the country’s virus task force are giving the appearance of divisions that could lead to rare infighting, people familiar with the situation said.

The party cadres, who decide which individuals are admitted to the PAP’s top decision making body, were concerned perceptions of a split could spur members to choose sides in the informal contest to succeed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, whose plans to step aside were delayed amid the pandemic after his heir-apparent bowed out earlier this year. They said the prime minister or another senior member should take charge and show decisiveness, according to the people.

Lee’s disrupted succession plan -- unusual in a country used to orderly transitions -- has added more pressure on the PAP as it looks to keep the economy on track while dealing with rising concerns about foreign workers in the financial hub. Although the party prolonged its nearly six-decade rule in an election last year, the opposition gained a record number of seats.

While the virus task force and Lee’s cabinet make key decisions and implement them as a team, Finance Minister Lawrence Wong and Health Minister Ong Ye Kung have noticeably focused on different aspects of the pandemic response in recent public comments as the country announced stop-start changes in its reopening plan. Wong has generally appeared to favor tighter measures to contain the virus, while Ong is seen as a greater advocate for opening. Both are regarded as prime contenders to one day take power from Lee.

The disquiet in the party reflects a broader debate within Singapore society about the pace of opening up, even as it boasts one of the world’s highest vaccination rates. The Southeast Asian financial hub has sought to balance the need to resume international travel and domestic activity with keeping overall mortality rate low, leading to abrupt shifts in policy on issues like working from home and dining out.

Virgo49,
The video is released yesterday only, so probably will take time to implement ( if they going to show video, they show seriously implement it straight or give a timeline to avoid confusion but that they only been study-smart and mollycoddle all this while, what can be said). I'm sure the the ministers-in-charge are just as confused as the whole Singapore population, because they do not really know if they are dealing with endemic or pandemic as they try to eat both side of the cake, and now we have to pay for their flip-flip.

Singapore missed two golden opportunities to get it right.
1. When cases were low, could have decided to go for zero Covid, clamp it down, clean up internally, at least can live normally after that, like what is happening in China. But ceca Indians would have problems coming in.

2. Stop the inflow of Ceca Indians when India was having the worst of time with the virus running wild. But being so kind and loving to our darling India, now we are paying a very heavy price for it.

Though India seems to have the situation under control, don't bet on it. The numbers and cases are far from real. No testing means no cases.

The latest 5 old Singaporeans' COVID deaths yesterday, as with the past few weeks' deaths, were certainly avoidable if not for the rookie Ministers' reckless decision to adopt the endemic approach to tackling the Coronavirus.

Ong Yee Kung, the reject of voters, in his eagerness and anxiety to clinch the seat of the Prime Minister, has been given a ton of ropes to hang himself.

Stupid enough to fall into the trap laid for him, he has now got a lot of blood on his hands, legs and body.

Even his face is now splattered with the blood of those oldies who have died prematurely under his reckless and dangerous idea of "Living with COVID-19" but actually playing and experimenting with the Coronaviruses by unnecessarily sacrificing the lives of the oldies in exchange.

Such a reckless, callous, careless and heartless person must not be allowed to be a Minister, let alone be the Prime Minister!

I strongly think that he should be hung for his crimes against humanity by causing unnecessary deaths and sufferings instead of protecting lives.

Every human life is precious, no matter how young or how old it may be. Whoever does not understand this, cannot be a leader. Worst of all is to be a Health Minister!

Take note that among the 5 deaths, two are fully vaccinated, one partially and 2 unvaccinated. Yesterday, both deaths were fully vaccinated patients. What does this tell us about full vaccination protecting against serious complications? If this narrative holds true, there shouldn't be that many deaths among the fully vaccinated, taking into account the fact that more than 80% have already taken the second shot, right?

Ong Yee Kung must resign immediately to take full responsibility for all the recent deaths caused by his gambling with the Coronavirus.

“Having a clear leadership may work better -- either Lee or his senior ministers should take charge,” Inderjit Singh, a former PAP lawmaker, said by phone. “The focus should be to tackle the pandemic and not a means to decide on selecting the future prime minister.”

Are they using this to see who does a better job for the PM post? Using people's life to test the candidates suitability? OMG this is no laughing matter!

We are not even "Living with Covid", we are "Playing with Covid". We are playing hide and seek with covid, just that we don't know who the spreader is.
I don't have problem living with covid but I have problem sway sway kena 10 days quarantinue along with whole family under one pigean hole, and then deal with overloaded poor response of MOH, and at same time, the everyone job is at risk because of quarantine, and then possibility of increasing anther 10 days on and on for whole family if anyone test positive again (as they change rule like underwear) . This is real and not even make-it up , because you can't fake this. MOH should know.

And best of all, the stat given by MOH just cannot be trusted, since when the whole government ministries are trustworthy ? The whole situation is just one circus show.

For those who say that those who kena is just unlucky, I feel the same way too until this happen. The virus will spread without target, and I don't think we call this lucky anymore if we didn't get positive because even if you don't kena, one of your member families will eventually since it is so widespread, and thus no difference.

The disastrous consequences of the damned India CECA policy took years to become evident to the people.

The disastrous consequences of the damned endemic COVID policy took just weeks to become evident to the people.

Still, who got a common hand in both policies?

Heng Swee Keat spent three years of his life negotiating and finally signing the CECA pact with India and it's a disaster for Singaporeans. The MTF doesn't have the luxury of three years to negotiate with Covid. The disaster in this case is unmeasurable and with no end in sight.

OYK said the Delta variant "did not follow our script", Well then do what the PAP is good at. Take Delta to court, sue the s**t out of it, impose a heavy fine or even better give it the rotan and sent it to a long jail sentence.

PAP for many decades is so used to having their way , playing with CPF monies, investment, law, lawsuit, news, brainwashing, social engineering that some divine finally teach them a lesson. You just can't play with Covid.

They did not know you have a dog. Or else they will quarantine your dog and send your dog for a PCR. Maybe this is one of the ways that the dogs and cats are helping to spread the virus when the owners took them for a walk.

PM doing tutoring of DPM that is not going to be the PM.
DPM not wanting to be PM, so what is he doing holding the DPM title?
PMs to be either out of contention or being throw into the deep end of the pool to see who would survive the virus.
Who is doing the job of PM now?

Anon 2.55 you are right.

The Hell Minister should sue the virus until their pants drop, for not following the script. Suing is their territory, their weapon, their way of making those wayward beans, or in this case non-beans as well, follow the script. It may work as they have a well touted 'turbaned' nuclear weapon, who had all along done a sure win job on human beans, so should perform as well against non human beans. All is not lost!

Whether it is ONG or WONG, Singaporeans can look forward to a period of turmoil and disaster. WONG or ONG, both ending with wrONG. Maybe that is a warning. Either candidate will bring Singapore to the gutter. Currently the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic is an indication of what is to come. Singaporeans, please beware of things to come.

Singapore's COVID19 situation has almost 'gone to the dogs'. Soon all the dogs will be blamed if Virgo's dog is discovered and singled out for PCR and tested positive. Then all hell will break lose and it will be hysteria like 'cats and dogs'.

We need another cable car incident to find the next PM. No need hands on, just stand by is enough to test his mantle. That is the easy part. The difficult part is who can qualify to be the one standing by? Or the seat warmer!

7 wards closed in 6 hospitals in recent weeks as 130 Covid-19 cases detected among staff, patients

Seven wards in six acute public hospitals here have been closed in the two weeks leading up to the latest barring of visitors to hospital wards here that began last Friday (Sept 24), said the Ministry of Health (MOH).

This came as 130 hospital staff, and patients who were admitted to the affected hospitals for non-Covid-19 ailments tested positive for the virus in the same period, the ministry said on Wednesday.

The affected hospital staff include both clinical and support ancillary staff, MOH said in response to queries from The Straits Times about the latest hospital visitation restrictions.

“Currently, about 15 per cent of the hospital beds in the acute public sector hospitals are used for Covid-19 patients,” said the ministry.

MOH said hospitals have cross-deployed staff from other areas within the hospital to mitigate the impact on staffing levels due to the infected staff.

“This is done in strict adherence to infection control measures, including the donning of appropriate personal protective equipment,” it said.

“All patient-facing staff are also enrolled in frequent surveillance testing to detect any infection early and prevent transmission in the hospitals.”

Fewer than 1 per cent of all staff in public hospitals were placed on leave of absence, stay-home notice, quarantine order or health risk warning for the period from Sept 13 to Sept 19, said MOH.

Visits to hospital wards have been disallowed for four weeks from Sept 24 to Oct 23 due to more Covid-19 cases being detected among hospital staff, patients and visitors, the ministry said last week.

The detection of cases among hospital staff had necessitated ward closures and quarantines, which have put a strain on hospital bed capacity and staffing at a time when more beds are needed to care for hospitalised Covid-19 patients, MOH said last week in explaining the need for the stoppage to ward visits.

Only specific patient groups are exempted on a case-by-case basis - such as those who are very ill or mothers about to give birth - and all approved visitors have to produce a valid negative antigen rapid test or polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test result obtained within the last 24 hours of each visit.

“Our hospitals continue to provide services to the public and to care for patients with Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 medical conditions,” said an MOH spokesman.

There were 2,268 new Covid-19 cases reported on Wednesday. Eight Singaporeans aged between 72 and 90 have died from complications due to Covid-19, the Ministry of Health said on Wednesday (Sept 29). They comprise five Singaporean men and three Singaporean women.

Singapore's healthcare system is under tremendous pressure, and the latest Covid-19 restrictions are needed to stabilise the situation and prevent avoidable deaths, said Finance Minister Lawrence Wong on Monday (Sep 27).ST.

Note Wong himself said the deaths are avoidable. The eight Singaporeans needn't have died.

Why is the PAP 4G elites' preferred endemic COVID policy only fatally ensnaring Singaporean elderly people but no fatal foreigner victims? Perhaps it reflects the demographic composition of the Singaporean/foreigner resident population - that foreigners here are of relatively younger age.
