How did Tan
Boon Hui got to be recognized as a global talent? He earned his spurs as
assistant chief executive for museums and programmes at the National Heritage
Board and from SAM. This is what our country must do, to give opportunities to
our own talents to gain the experience before launching them into the
international arena. If we don’t give them the opportunity and foolishly hire
foreigners to fill top positions, we will never nurture our talents for the
international market. I must say NTUC’s intention is good in the e2i, but is
this the right thing to do, what credibility or value is added to compete in
the international talent pool?
Now have we
hired more foreigners to head he NHB and SAM, to train them to be
internationally competitive and give a miss to our own talents? Have we been
doing this silly foreign talent game in all the industries, particularly in
banking and finance and leading to a hollowing of our talents in the industry?
Even an idiot
could see the stupidity in the whole process. If we don’t train our own talents,
if we don’t give them the opportunity but give them to foreigners, what would be
the end result? Oh, we are giving our talents a lot of opportunities of be
hawkers and bus captains. My apologies, we are taking good care of our local
talents, nurturing them to compete in the world market, sending them out after
they get their degree or diploma from e2i.
We are
heading in the right direction with such great policies to train our talents or
is it training foreign talents to be international talents?
No more
Singaporean core? Why? Dunno leh. Oh, oh, we will issue pink ICs to the
foreigners and called them Singaporeans and Singapore talents.

Well, apparently Mr Tan is one Singapore individual who has GRIT to make it internationally.
....which takes me back to math: even in a cohort of a few million entitled asshole Singaporeans, there will be the rare few who rise to the top....because they can cook with "secret sauce"...and make their special dishes which everyone will remember.
Anyway, there's a song which says: "If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere...It's UP TO YOU, New York New York."
Congratulations Mr Tan!
The problem is not that there are no Sinkie talents, but just not enough of talented Sinkies like Tan Boon Hui.
I mean, when there are not even enough ordinary Sinkies, where to get enough talented Sinkies, and let alone enough of them to join the Sinkie opposition.
That's why the Sinkie opposition is not ready to be govt.
Hence PAP will be the govt and no choice have to get lots of ordinary foreigners to supplement ordinary Sinkies no enough.
Good examples of Singaporeans working overseas. 2nd world working in 1st world....AN UPGRADE....better experience, work with other talents, better systems, more pay, etc.
DOGGIE Ministers instead want SINGAOREANS to DOWNGRADE and move out from Singapore and work in INDIA & CHINA. 2nd world to 3rd world...lower pay, deal with more crooks, learn to ways of crooks, etc.
Our Ministers are not thinking with their hearts & minds.
They should go work in Bombay.
I agree with you totally about nurturing our own talents by giving them challenges and it starts with giving them work experiences. the problem is we only have so many banks and other financial institutions. I had worked in both local and foreign banks. If the foreign bank bosses want to bring in their less qualified staff (probably to give them experiences too!) what can we really do? If pushed too hard they may relocate to another friendlier country. So what can we do really? We can nurture our own local companies, we can nudge foreign companies in the right direction by giving them the big picture. Hey there is a premium to locating in Singapore. No free ride etc...
In the 1970s & 1980s when Singapore was less attractive, Dr Goh Keng Swee & his team was able to get MNCs and foreign banks to localize top management.
Why the reverse now?
Make no sense.
Now our bargaining chips maybe stronger not weaker;
As our government has always been boasting about how good they are.
If we can get rid of the PAP core in our parliament.
Then we should have no problem developing a talented Singaporean core in our country.
But we have to fix the PAP problem first.
Support our Singaporean patriots.
Vote out the Traitors and Aristocrats in GE 2015.
We can nurture our own local companies, we can nudge foreign companies... Hey there is a premium to locating in Singapore. No free ride etc...

Can lah, but take long long to nurture, and no guarantee of success some more. And PAP must report GDP growth every quarter u know, in order to determine annual bonus for ministers.
Nudge foreign companies? U think Singapore their only choice to come ah?

Foreign companies not happy, then fuck off lah.
Go back to India.
Go back to Philippines.
Go back to China.
Same with PAP Ministers.
Pay not high enough, then fuck off lah.
Go work in India, China and Philippines lah.
"Can lah, but take long long to nurture, and no guarantee of success some more."

You are right.
Look at LHL.
Take so long to nurture and still no guarantee even now that he is a successful Prime Minister.
They need another 50 years to get it right. In the meantime continue to collect millions and wait for 50 years for things to happen when all will not be around to answer. Take millions first.
