This statement may shock many people. How can that be? Only China and Indonesia have high speed trains? What about Japan's Shinkansen and France's TGV? It depends on the definition of high speed trains. China, France and Japan have claimed top speed exceeding 400kph and 500kph. But these speeds are not the normal operating speed of commercial trains.
Japan and France operate their commercial trains at a speed of 320 kph. Indonesia's Jakarta Bandung train cruises at 350 kph. China's Shanghai Maglev train runs at 431kph. If high speed train is defined as running at 300kph and above, 4 countries qualified, ie China, Japan, France and Indonesia.
If high speed train is defined as commercial trains operating at 350 kph and above, only China and Indonesia qualified.
So, if we used 350 kph as the cut off speed for high speed trains, China and Indonesia are the only two countries in the world that operate at this speed for their commercial trains.

Where have HSR?
UK's HSR is expected to cost 98 billion pounds for now. Someone commented that the actual cost will spiral to around 180 billion pounds when completed, if it ever will.
Now, spending that kind of money is insane. UK's two bathtubs are hardly staying above water as they do not even have the money to maintain them, and there is even talk of selling one for scrap. And those two junks are expected to threaten China? The Brits probably do not realize how far behind they have fallen and yet trying to act tough.
Rest assured, the USA, UK and Germany are vying for the title of who is going down faster.
Nothing beats the clowns in Manila with their museum warships donated by the Americans and fishing boats and wanting to threaten China, and wanting to be like Zelensky and Ukrainians.
