Africa’s COVID Threat Hits New Level as Delta Variant Spreads Speedily

Warnings are mounting about a fast-growing new wave of COVID-19 infections across the continent of Africa amid insufficient vaccines and weakened healthcare systems.

According to the WHO's data. slightly more than 1% of the entire African population has been fully vaccinated against the disease

Africa faces a rising threat of a Covid 3rd Wave. Infections have surge by more than 300% in the past two weeks. Oxygen supply and oxygen tanks are running out of stock very rapidly. Medical supplies are inadequate. Hospitals are overcrowded and doctors and nurses are overly stretched and exhausted, and never insufficient.

Since the beginning of June, the number of deaths is so high that it’s more than those from March to December last year.

All the medical facilities are struggling to breaking point. Ventilators are not being used because of a serious lack of medical staff.

“We need the public to help us in this fight against COVID. As long as the people out there do not practice those basic things – wearing masks, hand hygiene, social distancing, and getting vaccinated where available, it will be like a rat race we can’t keep up with.”

Most governments have responded to the surge by banning gatherings of more than 20 people and ordering the closure of bars and nightclubs, with warnings of a possible lockdown to follow.

More than a dozen countries have reported their worst figures since the start of the pandemic, with more than 650,000 new cases recorded on the continent between May 3, when the so-called third wave began.

At a press briefing on Thursday, the World Health Organization’s Africa director Dr Matshidiso Moeti warned that “the speed and scale of Africa’s third wave is like nothing we’ve seen before.”

“COVID-19 cases are doubling every three weeks, compared to every four weeks at the start of the second wave. Almost 202,000 cases were reported in the past week and the continent is on the verge of exceeding its worst week ever in this pandemic,” she added.

Moeti said that, among the 14 African countries now in resurgence, 12 have detected coronavirus variants of concern, including nine with the highly contagious Delta variant.

“With the rampant spread of more contagious variants, the threat to Africa rises to a whole new level.”


A recent situational report published by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security stated that Africa “has exhibited a substantial increase in daily incidence since mid-May”, with daily case numbers rising threefold.

The COVID-19 situation in Africa is worrisome. Both the number of cases and deaths are almost 40 percent higher than last week, and hospitalisations due to COVID-19 have increased by a further 42 percent.

First identified in India, the Delta variant is 60 percent more transmissible than other variants. So far, it has been detected in 16 African countries, including South Africa, Uganda and Liberia.

South Africa accounts for close to 40 percent of all COVID-19 deaths on the continent, with 60,038 officially recorded fatalities so far. It is struggling to cope with growing coronavirus infections driven by the highly contagious Delta variant.

The WHO will set up a Hub for mRNA vaccines in South Africa, in what is being described as a politically motivated move to counter China's efforts in providing and promoting the Chinese vaccines Sinovac and Sinopharm.

USA - the fading away Empire

How time has changed. The voice of the Americans is growing weaker, their circle of friends getting smaller and their power to pressure their allies and enemies slipping away. Since the time of Trump to the present, the only obsession of the Americans is China, China and China. Wherever and whenever the Americans made their presence, in regional forum, international gatherings, in bilateral meetings, the agenda is the same, smearing China, attacking China, coercing everyone to go against China. This antics of the bickering and warmongering Americans has become a drag and very painful in the ears of allies or countries that did not want to be part of this hostile and unproductive discussion with the Americans

Do the Americans have nothing else better to do, no better ideas than to badmouth China, stirring shits and fabricating lies and fake news everyday against China and accusing China of hostility and aggression? Do the Americans really believe the leaders and people of the world are blind and stupid and could not see who is the real troublemaker, the aggressor, the abuser, the provocateur for war and instability, the murderers of Arabs and Muslims and people from the developing world?

The world know who is the real villian, the warmonger and murderers of the innocents. The hands of the Americans, AngloSaxons and European powers are dripping with blood.

China is assertive, China is aggressive, for doing what? The Americans are friendly, nice, cooperative? Not aggressive, not coercive, not oppressive and manipulative in what they are doing everyday? This madness to want to run down China is getting so out of hand that no one would want to be talking to the Americans anymore, as their agenda would only consist of how to make an enemy of China and also Russia.

Countries of the world have many priorities and important matters in looking after their people and economic interests, to provide for their people to live well. No one has the energy or in the mood to want to go to war with China, to make an enemy of China, their number one trading partner and carries a bag of goodies to share with the rest of the world. Why would any country want to start a war, and in this case against China and cut off the largesse that China could provide, the economic and technological aid that they needed most, anything but war and wasting limited funds to spend on buying weapons to start a war.

The Americans still did not get it and could not see how irritating and unproductive they are in their agenda for war against China and Russia. They could not hear or see the messages from every country, including their allies and cronies, that no one is interested in making an enemy of China, let alone going to war with China that is contributing the growth of their economies. 

Why would any country want to go to war, go to fight a war for the Americans, an American war with China? The Americans may have nothing better to do or thinking that war is a great party to keep themselves as the top dog of the world, but that has nothing to do with countries of the world, and if any, would keep them subservient to an aggressive and bullying American Empire.

Many countries are in fact privately celebrating and wishing that China could stop this evil American Empire, to prevent the Americans from bullying, harassing and oppressing them, threatening regime change and meddling with their domestic politics. 

The Americans are so dull not to see how evil and wicked and unwelcome they are to the countries of the world. Every country wants to stay neutral in America's fight with China. It is none of their business. Every country secretly hope that it is time the Americans be held and kept away from interfering in their domestic affairs, be kept busy by another big power so that the Americans would have no time to mess around with countries all over the world.

Quietly and purposefully, every country is staying away from the Americans, not want to be seen with the Americans, except for a few lackeys and cronies, the number diminishing by the day. Every country now would be able to exercise their votes in the UN and regional or international organisations freely and in the interest of their respective countries. It is a new found independence and freedom from the evil American Empire. The Americans can continue to shout, no one is listening. The Americans may continue to charge, but no one will be running behind them. The American voice is getting dimmer, their evil cause, aggressiveness and warmongering have no followers...other than the 5 AngloSaxon has been powers and their semi colonies of Japan and South Korea. 

Who cares and wants to be the barking dogs of the Americans when the Americans could not carry its stick to whack anyone at will anymore?  For there are China and Russia watching and can turn to for support and protection.

The Americans must be feeling more lonely by the day with friends and foes not wishing to be seen with them and to be roped in or coerced to be American pawns. You can't lie and cheat all the people all the time. You can't bully, threaten and oppress people all the time. It is game over soon for the Americans. 

Today we are seeing the American begging to want to meet President Xi or Foreign Minister Wang Yi, just to show the world they could call the shot. Unfortunately the Chinese refused to see them. Nothing worth talking, and kept them waiting at the door. Who do the Americans think they are, that when they want to talk, want to visit Beijing, the Chinese must open the door to welcome them?

China would only talk to the Americans if the Americans behave like decent beans and on equal terms. No more wasting time talking about American agenda and on American terms.

The Neutrality Of Singapore Is Vital For Her Long-term Survival

If Singapore had truly wanted to be neutral, not choosing any side between China and USA, as repeatedly spoken by many Singapore diplomats, past and present foreign ministers and the three prime ministers, then Singapore leaders shouldn't have journeyed all the way to the USA and Japan to publicly and purposely thrash China and the Chinese People in front of the leaders of USA and the leaders of Japan, in order to carry favour and score points. Unfortunately such events did take place, not once but a few times.

Such behaviour was totally uncalled for, unnecessarily antagonistic, lack of statesmanship, diplomatically unacceptable and plain stupid,

Singapore leaders would do well to remember that 75% of Singapore citizens are of Chinese origin. Most of them take their Chinese heritage with pride and dignity. Most of them still have ties and relatives in China. Most of them are doing business in and with China and the Chinese People. Almost all of them, except the few Bananas, still respect China as their fathers' and/or mothers' original Homeland.

Singapore leaders should always be grateful to the Chinese Majority who have voted them into power to enjoy the status, wealth, position and prestige they now have. Without the Chinese votes, Singapore leaders past and present would not be where they are today.

Singapore leaders shouldn't take for granted that the Chinese voters will always continue to support and vote for the present ruling political party to enable them to continue to do what they are doing and enjoying. The wind of change is blowing very strongly. If they were to continue with their Anti-China and Anti-Chinese stance, they may be in for a rude shock in time to come, both internally and externally.

The neutrality of Singapore is vital for Singapore's long-term survival. There is no two ways about it. Siding with the USA on the one hand, while belittling, condemning, demonizing or thrashing China on the other, is not neutrality. It is obviously outright taking sides. Vice versa is also outright taking sides. Even primary school pupils know this.

Therefore, if Singapore leaders have already taken side with Western Powers, especially USA, and especially also with Japan (the perennial Arch-enemy of China), then it is time to mend their ways - attitude, behaviour and actions. This can take a very long time but it has to start now.

Remember, the long-term survival of Singapore depends on her ability to maintain her neutrality.

ASEAN was formed on the basis of Neutrality. As an active member of ASEAN, Singapore must remember and actively uphold the principle of neutrality at all times. Just paying lip service is hypocritical and deceptive, to say the least.

Fashion houses profited from forced labour?

French magistrates have opened an inquiry into allegations that four fashion groups including Uniqlo and the owner of Zara profited from forced labour of the Uyghur minority in China, a judicial source said Thursday. AFP

What a joke. The French court inquiry about a few fashion houses profiting from alleged forced labour. How hypocritical can these evil white men be? France profited not only from forced labour but from massacring the natives of Africa when it invaded the continent.  France was also involved in the slave trades.  Who else were involved in the slave trades, many times more evil and cruel than forced labour? Heard of slavery, hunting and capturing African slaves in Africa? Britain was the biggest slave traders, and America the biggest beneficiary and the worst exploiters of African slaves. France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Belgium,etc etc, practically all the European powers were engaged in the slave trades.

Oh, my apologies. Slave trading and using slaves to work in the farms and factories and what else were not profiting from forced labours. It was profiting from slave labour. My humble apologies for not being able to tell the difference. USA, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Belgium etc etc did not profit from forced labour.  But they got free labour, and became very rich and powerful, free labour from the slaves.

Yes, yes, such nice and friendly and kind and compassionate and generous countries and people. Ok, go and investigate these companies on the alleged and fabricated charges of profiting from forced labour. There is no need to investigate countries profiting from slavery.

There is another justification why slave labour should not be a crime. The slaves were subhumans and did not have any rights like human beans unlike the forced labour. Since the slaves were subhuman beans, so no need to bother, no need to investigate. Right?
