 India’s brain drain easing? Why more tech workers are coming home – and the challenges they face

More tech workers are returning to India from the United States, driven in part by immigration uncertainty and new opportunities at home. But industry experts tell CNA that gaps in pay, research funding and cutting-edge work compared to the US could make retaining them a challenge.  CNA

India's foreign talents are being  kicked out from the 5 I countries, with USA, Canada and UK topping the list. Hundreds of Indians are now forced to return to India on a one way ticket and not welcomed back in these countries. The net result is an abundance of Indians that were used to the higher pay in these countries returning home to India but unable to find the same kind of pay, nothing near to what they were used to be getting in India. India may be able to provide some kind of employment to these returnees, some may try to start their own businesses with their own savings. But without the market and supply chains, these new startups can only last for as long as the savings can keep them alive. The startups are not the established big companies in the 5 I countries and would take years to grow a business from scratch.

A few hundred thousands of these Indians is no joke for India where decent jobs are hard to come back. Many would be looking around for another country to provide them with jobs that would pay them a decent wage than in India. The richest Indian city in SE Asia is likely to be their top choice and can expect a long queue heading its way.  Would these Indians be allowed in to replace their no talent population and create more unemployment for the locals...and more social unrest and unhappiness? Oops, unlikely to hear anymore complaints.

When the 5 I countries start to close the door to the Indians, no country is large enough to cater for the oversupply of these Indian talents. Even India cannot afford to take them back. So, who is going to be the charitable Santa Claus to offer good decent jobs to the returned Indians?
