Rachel Maddow interviewed Donald McNeil, reporter of NYT who have good advice for Trump. This part on McNeil is about 2:30 min into the show. I think Trump did but would not tell the American public fearing to lose face and votes for his second term. How can the President of the USA beg for help from a country they regard as Enemy Number One?
Another advice is to hire those Chinese doctors and nurses that went to help Wuhan and have now gone home to their own provinces. These are experienced medical staff and some with immunity from the virus after being infected while in Wuhan.

Covid 19 - Fear factor and time for making tough calls
SINGAPORE: The number of locally transmitted and unlinked cases of
COVID-19 in Singapore is increasing, said Health Minister Gan Kim Yong
on Tuesday (Mar 31), as he stressed the importance of taking safe
distancing measures seriously.
On average, there are 25 locally transmitted cases a day, Mr Gan said during a press conference that was held virtually on video conferencing....
“Particularly worrying are the unlinked cases. We have an excellent contact tracing team, and they are going all out to trace down each and every new case, identify the links,” Mr Wong said.
However, he cautioned that it will be “very difficult” for them as they go about doing their work, with new cases “popping up” every day. CNA
Exactly, when more and more cases are popping up, it will increasingly be more difficult to trace. And knowing how infectious this virus is, a missed case can mean many more infected cases. There was a time when Singaporeans need not worry too much when cases were few and easily traced and checked. At a time when daily cases were in the 1-3 bracket, I thought things were under controlled and improving.
Today we have 40 to 70 cases daily and more frightening, unlinked local cases average at 25. This is no joke. It is spreading in the community. This is serious. But this is subjective also depending on one's mindset on what is serious and what is not serious. The good thing is that there are many examples to learn from. We have seen how Italy, Spain and New York, USA failed so miserably. In fact the whole of Europe is going the Italian and American way.
When there were 15 cases, Trump said they would just go away, like a miracle. But many countries are not taking this lightly. Many countries have jumped the gun and went on to lock down their countries. Singapore is at a cross road, to lock down or not to lock down. Do we want to wait till we are like Italy and New York then decide to lock down? Or should we lock down now while we can, while the cases are still manageable and to nip it in the bud?
It is a tough call, but someone must make the call. And this is not rocket science but a political decision based on what is happening around the world. There are enough information and data and failed cases to learn from to make this decision, and it must be made now. Any dilly dally like clown Trump would see Singapore sinking into another Italy or New York.
The decision made by the govt today, to lock down or not to lock down would affect the situation in the next fortnight or next month. Only time will tell who is right and who is wrong. It is a judgement call.

Covid19 - The Americans are crying, suffering and dying, but fighting
This is what the New York Police spokesman said after the first policeman died from Covid19. The only thought that comes from this warmongering state is fight, we will continue to fight. Going down on their knees to beg for forgiveness in not in their mindset. Did they know what they are fighting and who they are fighting?
Stop all the wars and trying to start new ones. Stop that mad dog Pompeo from spreading more lies. Stop spreading lies that America is threatened. It is the Evil Empire that is threatening everyone. No one can afford to attack America and live for another day. No one is threatening America. It is all a white lie to justify wars. Bring your soldiers home. The world needs peace. The people of the world needs to live in peace and be free from the Evil Empire's killing, oppression and suppression. Remove all the sanctions against countries that the Americans unilaterally branded as enemies and threats to their Empire. Free the people of North Korea, the people of Iran, the people of Venezuela, of Colombia, of Iraq, Syria, Libya etc etc. Let these people choose their own leaders, their political systems, their way of life. It is none of the business of the American Empire.
Stop supporting and financing terrorist groups and terrorism. Start to make friends and make peace with the world. You need the rest of the world as they need you. The world has never been more connected and interdependent than before. All the monies could have make the world a better place to live in without going into making weapons of wars and conducting wars.
The One above is angry. Fight you may, you cannot win. This is not a war that you have designed and controlled. All your weapons are useless. You are hapless in the eyes of the ONE above. Go down on your knees and pray for forgiveness and pledge to do good instead of killing people as you wish, war collaterals, so convenient.

Covid19 - Tribute to all the brave and selfless health workers in the front line
My estate burst into loud applause and clapping at 8pm sharp, a sound of appreciation to all the health workers fighting Covid19 in the front line and also risking their lives doing so. This little gesture is from the hearts of all Singaporeans, to every man and woman out there caring for the infected and trying to save their lives, keeping them alive and consoling them in this very lonely and silent war of life and death.
A big thank you to all of you. No amount of words and clapping could express the gratitude of the people for these gallant and self sacrificing people. This is real sacrifice by putting their lives out there, while trying to save lives. The govt can do more for these heroes and heroines out there.

Covid19 - Why lockdowns failed
China was the first country that imposed a lockdown on big cities like Wuhan with a population of about 15m and the whole province of Hubei with another 50m population. And the effort bore great results with the Covid19 virus contained and as good as obliterated in 3 months. No more local transmission, Hubei unlocked and Wuhan about to be unlocked with life starting to return to normalcy.
Many countries have also followed China's example of locking down cities and region but are failing. Some countries like Singapore, South Korea and Japan did not really lock down their country or cities but seem to be doing fairy well. Why are the western countries failing, especially Italy and Spain, and why locking down American cities would also failed?
There are three fundamentals that would ensure some kind of success in a lockdown. A lockdown is a stringent measure that aims to contain the virus in a particular spot, city or region. When announced, no one leaves or enters the area. And it is pointless to announce a lockdown in advance to allow people to leave quickly. Those who left would bring along the virus in them to spread wherever they go. This was exactly what happened to Italy. You don't announce a lockdown in advance to allow infected people to leave before it comes into effect. After a lockdown, in China's case, all the few cases outside Wuhan and Hubei were quickly tackled and isolated to prevent further spread.
Now Trump is going to do a lockdown on New York. Would it work? No, it is too late, the virus is all over the USA. This brings me to the second fundamental, to nip the problem in the bud. When the problem is small and contained, it could be killed on the spot. This means cornering the virus by contact tracing, quarantine them and testing all those that have come into contact with the infected person. In this way, the spread could be arrested and any one that missed contacted, when infected and reported, the whole process would swing into action again to bring all those in contact with the infected person into quarantine. This is where Singapore did well, swift enforcement when the problem is small and not allowed to grow and spread. This was also the case in other parts of China after Wuhan was locked down.
The third fundamental is testing. In a lockdown, the virus is contained in an area. Infected person isolated, suspects quarantined and tested. And because infected and suspected are identified and confined, there is no need to test the rest of the population. They would only be tested when infected or suspected to be infected. In places where there is no lockdowns, the problem is not contained, and worse, if there is no testing, those already infected would be spreading the virus everywhere they go. This is the problem in countries that introduced half hearted measures in lockdowns and testing only those infected. The virus was having a great time, unrestrained and spreading freely. Oh, the test must be free or minimal cost to get people to come for the test.
Today, many countries have the virus all over. Any forms of lockdowns must be nation wide, like the whole of Italy or the whole of the USA, the whole of UK, to be meaningful and effective. And after the lockdowns, isolation of infected, quarantined of those they have contacted and testing everyone of them must follow to restrain the virus from spreading further. No testing, no contact tracing, no quarantine, no lockdown, no success. To contain and stop the virus from spreading means serious effort to contain, no half hearted measures as the virus would spread freely given the chance.
