A classic example of why aerial bombardment failed to achieve victory was in London during WW2, which endured 57 days of German bombardment with massive destruction. Hitler was betting on destroying the moral of the British with such destruction. It did the opposite. Did Britain collapse? Not when the defenders do not want to surrender and choses to fight.
Another classic example was Vietnam with the USA doing carpet bombing day and night, from February 1965 until November 1968. What had the USA achieved even with boots on the ground? What has aerial superiority, weapons superiority coupled with an army said to be the most experienced in the world, with boots on the ground achieved for the USA? North Vietnamese ingenuity, grit and strategy defeated more than half a million USA boots on the ground during the war, supplemented by boots from South Korea and South Vietnam. They failed to suppress gritty Vietcong fighters carrying small arms, just like in Afghanistan. 50,000 body bags returning home and veterans suffering traumas till today is the result.
When the final outcome depends on ingenuity and strategy, brute power alone does not always do the job. Trump and Hegseth can boast of how powerful the USA is and how it can just walk into Spain and the Spaniards can do nothing. Boasting is one thing, doing it is another. Just like boasting about ending the Ukraine war within 24 hours. The whole world is laughing at the clown-in-chief.
How many days have the USA and Israel been bombing Iran so far, which is a far bigger country than the British Isles, Vietnam or even Afghanistan. Even with boots on the ground, how realistic is it to control that size of a country? Controlling Iraq after all these years is already untenable.
4 to 5 weeks of bombing is not going to move the needle to bring down the regime in Iran. That translates into 28 to 35 days, for a country multiple times the size of the UK. A week has gone, the damage in Iran is real, but the damage in Israel and the Middle East is far from transparent. We saw that during the 12-day war, with the real damage in Israel becoming apparent later on. Many people were surprised that the Israelis decided on a ceasefire when they were touted to be winning. Israel will never agree to a ceasefire when it is on the upper hand. They go for the pound of flesh instead. We have seen that in Gaza.

Trump thinks Iran is just like Venezuela where he can just waltz in, kidnapped the leader in his bed and retreat to boast about his state-of-the art military planning for the mission.

I am beginning to believe that South Americans are the same as the Arabs and Muslims in the Middle East. No backbones, no solidarity and just believing that their fate is dependent on the whims and fancies of the mother of terrorist. Now Ecuador is next in line to be followed by Cuba and Colombia, all already the menu on the table. Argentina is already sold to the USA, lock, stock and barrel.
Peru will also be targeted, having a Chinese developed port at Chancay that serves Chinese trade with South America, bypassing the Panama Canal. China must calculate carefully the idea of opening another canal via Nicaragua, that could be targeted as well. Very few South American countries can be trusted, not even Mexico with huge Chinese investments.
There are now calls for Trump's son, Baron Trump, to be drafted into the army. Will he be sent to Iran if it happens? Little wonder Trump is desperately trying to get a ceasefire that Iran refused for a second time.
