Now, among the companies targeted by China is Boeing, already suffering reputation erosion and delivery deadline issues. Such sanctions will cripple the operations of Boeing further and it will be a blessing in disguise for China's COMAC going forward. China is now adding insult to injury for Boeing while giving an opportunity to improve COMAC's global standing.
The USA has strongly criticized the move, but again what is sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander. Furthermore, the USA ought to know that people living in glass houses should not try to throw stones, thinking they are 'exceptional'. The USA has been sanctioning Chinese companies claiming they have connections to the CCP, most without an iota of proof.
Furthermore, using the National Security excuse, the USA had also sanctioned many Chinese companies including Huawei and Nexperia. Does the USA really think it now has the audacity to even complain about the Chinese move? China is telling the USA that anything you can do, we can do better.

China should have done that much earlier, but better late than never. Looks like decoupling has moved up a notch.
I think China has confidence enough now in lithography machine development to impose sanctions on entities like ASML, cutting off all rare earth supplies. This will in turn cripple chip manufacturers like TSMC and Samsung in USA, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. China must strike while the iron is hot. What is wrong with that when ASML is an obvious accomplice of the USA Government trying to strangle China? Just connection wise in action is good enough reason for China to do the necessary.
The USA and the West can continue to cast doubts and joke about China's ability in making lithography machines and 3 nm chips. They can laugh all they want and continue to gloat being the leader in high-end chip manufacturing. When they wake up, like the EV sector losing the lead, and like the Native American Indians, discovering that they lost their land. In this case it is pants that will be lost. Then it will be like the emperor without clothes, still strutting around naked.
China must keep on looking for USA vulnerabilities and targeting them. China has now discovered USA's AI and data center vulnerabilities, which is linked to energy supply. Targeting USA's energy generation facilities with sanctions on raw materials for construction would be great. Russia has control over nuclear fuel for power generation, which has not been weaponized as yet.
