What the world does not realize is that everything we have in our homes and outside the home just needs and are powered by legacy chips - TVs, refrigerators, washing machine, lifts, vehicles, EVs, drones, airplanes, trains and everything you can think of that needs a circuit board. Which is why China has shown its hidden power behind the Nexperia fiasco, just one sector that can cripple the whole global vehicle manufacturing eco-system.
High end chips are only needed for smartphones, computers and the military, while legacy chips are what is needed to sustain lifestyles of every human on earth.

When China succeeds in making high-end chips, which will be a matter of time, USA's Rolls Royce chips will only be saleable to the Royalties in UK and Europe, LOL. How realistically big enough is the market to sustain those Rolls Royce manufacturers I wonder.
Let us watch the show unfolding, with USA Rolls Royce chip giants pouring hundreds of billions into building up aggressively its AI infrastructure and data centers, trying to stifle China. Wonder how white elephants come into being? Chinese AI developers took the 'on the cheap' route of just putting in a couple of millions to stand shoulder to shoulder with USA top AI giants. That was really an example of more bang for the buck.
The USA can forget about using the AI investment trap of luring China into competition to collapse China's technology infrastructure, thinking that what works against the Soviet Union in the military spending spree is going to work against China.
