Just the same question that needs repeating. If it is
safe, why not just release those contaminated treated waters into its
reservoirs? Why arouse so much unease and antagonise so many neighbours
by making this irresponsible and controverial decision?
One
Japanese minister even said those treated waters are even safe for
drinking, so what is the problem with releasing those waters into its
own reservoirs. Unless he is lying through his arse hole.
How
much difference does it make to dilute the treated contaminated water
with sea water in tanks first, and then releasing the diluted water into
the ocean? Isn't it just the same as releasing the undiluted
contaminated water into the sea and let it be diluted by itself? This is
all a smoke and mirrors act to muddy the waters.
Japan knows
this is going to cost them dearly, especially with China and Hong Kong
being its biggest seafood market. 62% of South Koreans are also against
the Jap's decision and will probably be intending to avoid Japanese
seafood. As the release is expected to be stretched over many years, the
continued need for testing is going to exact a permanent damage to the
Japanese seafood export market. It will be gone for good, if any
untoward spike in contamination testing should ensue at some point.
As
a matter of fact, the release coming just after the tri-lateral meeting
on August 18, between the USA, Japan and South Korea at Camp David,
does give rise to make me suspiciously sure that this was given the go
ahead by Biden, with Yoon taking care of his supporting stance, and
stifle opposition in South Korea. This release had been talked about
since 2019, but facing objections from neighbouring countries and held
back.
As people living around and closer to the region, we are
directly having to contend with any consequences, and it matters that we
have different perceptions from those experts living far and away from
the Pacific Ocean, who are touting the narrative that the effect is
minimal. After all, most probably have vested interest to refrain from
voicing the damaging stuff. As I always say, money talks and bullshit
walks.
For me, Japanese seafood and particularly sushi are not my
cup of tea. But I have to remind my children and grandchildren to avoid
them as much as possible.

China is banning all Japanese seafood imports immediately. Hong Kong is banning seafood from specific regions of Japan. China and Hong Kong are the two biggest importer of Japanese seafood, so think about the effect.
The South Korean public are protesting, and a few getting arrested by its own Government. Who is protecting the well being of the South Korean people? As someone commented, it looks like the South Korean government is part of the plot to discreetly help the Japanese to carry out this vile act and to stifle dissent. Yoon is going to have much on his hands handle to stifle the protests. South Koreans can be militant when fighting for their rights.
Now, the Chinese ban on seafood is causing panic among Japanese seafood producers, with protest erupting all over Japan. Their Japanese seafood producer's livelihood are on the line. And the Japanese citizens are joining the protest, as seafood is also their most sought after item. This is not going to end well. But, like Japan meekly being dictated to by the USA, Japanese citizens are also very meek when it comes to protest against the Government. They will undoubtedly take it lying down, unlike the South Koreans.
The fact of the matter is, not only is China taking a stand to ban Japanese seafood, but countries around the region are watching and about to take a stand. Malaysia is taking a more serious look into seafood from Japan. My hope is that in spite of banning Japanese seafood, China must continue to monitor the situation eg using Hong Kong as intermediary to do its job.
China's lead in banning Japanese seafood in this situation is important and will be followed by others. Remember that China was the first country to ground the Boeing 737 Max in March 2019, after two fatal mishaps killing 346 people. The rest of the world then followed. They knew China must have good reasons to grounding their Boeing 737 Max planes and the rest followed its decision. This is a situation that is no different.
South Korea Yoon and Taiwan's Tsai Ing Wen are playing the role of Zelensky. For their selfish interests, they are prepared to sacrifice the lives of South Koreans and Taiwanese to be on the side of Japan and the US.
It is ironic. Even if these two, Tsai and Zelenskyy are clowns, the leaders of the EU are equally sacrificing their own people to follow the dictates of the USA.
If the EU leaders thinks that the energy crisis might be over with their 'patch and pray' solutions, they have been hugely mislaid by the USA. Help from USA is not to be expected, but taking advantage will be the norm.
With Europe, especially Germany and France already clutching at straws over energy, trying to lure industries over to the USA by using subsidies, it is clear that the USA is trying to benefit from the miseries of others, even close allies. And the EU leaders were ever so willing to oblige.
With half past six leaders like Annalena Baerbock, caring more for Ukraine than her own citizens, one wonders how it ended this way with them in charge. How the German people would look back at Angela Merkel and compare those days when Germany was still friendly with Russia. They could still be, if not for following the USA, and ending up in the gutters. Now there is no going back.
