The Americans are so pathetic

After pledging to give US$113m for a regional cyber infrastructure, read as building castle in the air or space, a pittance to any of the natural aristocrats in Singapore, the Americans are pledging to give another US$300m to Asean for security cooperation. What a joke? A pauper is a pauper. When you have no money, don't pretend to be a rich man and throw a few pieces of crumbs and expect the recipients to be grateful for it. And this is the sorry state of the American Empire, wasting all its money in fighting wars instead of doing something useful for its people and the people of the world, especially its allies.

How big are these few hundred millions compare to the US$350 billion China is contributing to the Belt and Road Infrastructure project for the whole of Asia? This is like a tiny drop in the ocean.

Below was reported in the Channel News Asia.

"SINGAPORE: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo pledged on Saturday (Aug 4) to provide nearly US$300 million in new security funding for Southeast Asia.
Pompeo unveiled the figure to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of foreign ministers from the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other officials from around the world in Singapore.
"As part of our commitment to advancing regional security in the Indo-Pacific, the United States is excited to announce nearly US$300 million dollars of new funding to reinforce security cooperation throughout the entire region," he said.
"This new security assistance will advance our shared priorities, especially to strengthen maritime security, develop humanitarian assistance and peacekeeping capabilities and enhance programmes that counter transnational threats.""

Just like the US$113m, where are the details? Or it is just another hot air? At most, the US$300m would be tied to buying American weapons, weapons that they have over produced and have no use for except to fight wars. And to make the weapons meaningful to the Asean countries, the Americans would be agitating and provoking more tensions in the region and then tell the Asean countries, "See, China or North Korea is going to invade and conquer Asean countries. Quick, quick, here are the weapons, take them as cheap price. The low interest rate would be paid by the US$300m we pledged to help Asean."

How many silly Asean countries would fall to this trap again?

The Americans have become another one trick pony. Conduct wars, start wars and sell weapons. There is nothing good coming from the Americans except wars and more wars. They did not know what else they can do to make the world a more peaceful and prosperous place except to conduct wars and create tensions everywhere they go.

"US$300 million in new security funding for Southeast Asia" - that doesn't contribute anything to the economic well-being of SEA countries, but only to help the Americans counter their geopolitical rivals in the region.

It is the same tactic used by the PAP leadership whever election time draws near.

The dafts and greedy will forever be daft and greedy. Asean leaders are included!

Rb, Knn u know how powerful is one aircraft carrier group? It's equivalent to a mid size country entire arm forces like Indonesia with over 100 fighter aircrafts, thousand of missiles and thousands of marines and hundreds of tanks. These are supported by longe range bombers based in many bases plus cruise missiles.

So if don't sell weapons how can their industries survived?😰

They robbed your homes, your fortunes, your countries, only to throw some crumbs under the table and the dogs are so very grateful, even to betray their own people and country.

Masters are so good, so generous.

If the Americans sell 65 F35 fighter jets to Singapore at US$95-US$105 million each, the angmohs would make a few billion dollars in profits, so the US$300 million is nothing.

The Americans will impose sanctions on Singapore if the tiny island state dare to buy from the Russians the cheaper Sukhoi Su-57 stealth, twin-engine multirole fifth-generation jet fighter.

Uncle Sam is in hock to the tune of $21 trillion. Imposing 25% tariffs on $200 million worth of Chinese goods will earn Uncle Sam only $50 billion. $12 billion will be used to compensate soya bean farmers. It leaves barely enough for household expenditure. EU and Nippon are worried that Uncle Sam is eyeing them as cash cows. It certainly needs more cash to finance inane projects in ASEAN and to pay its terrorists employed to foment regime changes.

What is the point of giving so much cos will only end up in pockets of some elites. When enemies come, it willl still be take care of yourself or diy, just like in uk era.

The next war will be nukes or poison. Fighter jets already obsolete.

Russia's Su-57 multipurpose fighter jet, a fifth-generation stealth fighter built for air superiority and complex attack operations, will be armed with the new hypersonic R-37M long-range air-to-air missile, a new weapon with the ability to cripple the US F-35 stealth fighter hundreds of miles away.

With a reported operational range of 186 to 248 miles and a top speed of Mach 6 (4,500 mph), the R-37M is designed to eliminate all enemy aircraft. The missile possesses an active-seeker homing system that allows it to target fighter jets, especially the F-35.

Third World War will be an Unlimited War. It means anything and everything will be used, including Atomic, Biological, Chemical, Lazer, Weather Control, Mass Food Poisoning, and Starvation.

Nobody will escape suffering and death!

Uncle Sam's cash-to-debt ratio was 14% in 2008. Today it is 12%. This works out to Uncle Sam having only $1 in cash to $8 in debt. Uncle Sam is going bankrupt. The tariffs merely postponed the inevitable. China on the other hand offers billions in aid and is winning friends and influence all over the world. Pathetic Uncle Sam can only offer peanuts in aid and hopes to make a tiny dent in China's growing stature. ASEAN hope to benefit as China reduces its trade with Uncle Sam and seeks new businesses elsewhere.

US$300 million is pathetic. How big is the whole of ASEAN? And to think they are trying to make it into a big issue with the words 'nearly US$300' meaning to tell everybody how big that amount is.

After losing out to China in Africa, South America and South Asia, they think that throwing chicken wings to ASEAN will buy them support? What security arrangements are they talking about. There is no war in ASEAN and are they out to start one here? Who else is stirring shit around this region but them?

Mahathir already said that the big powers should stay out of the region instead of creating tension. That must refer to the US in particular. He even criticised Trump and told him he should learn to live with China. The wily old fox knows that China is not going to collapse and go away anytime soon.

Now, with the US$300 million, what is in the minds of the USA talking about enhancement of security arrangements? To buy more weapons from USA and allow them to create tensions among ASEAN members? Philippines is already out to buy Russian helicopters and weapons from China, after USA refused to sell theirs. Are they thinking of doing a regime change in the Philippines? Duterte knows that he might not survive the CIA.

Finally, US$300 million is just about enough to buy three F35. The USA should not throw breadcrumbs if they cannot afford decent bread.

It has been reported that US missile shield system has been rendered obsolete by Russia's new hypersonic missiles. That is really a game changer.

Little wonder they are now selling the F35 big time. Such weapons will be obsolete when wars are fought with pressing buttons.

During WW2, fighter planes determine the outcome of victory or defeat. Aircraft carriers were at the mercy of these air attacks.

Now, with drones armed with nuclear warheads, aircraft carrier destroying missiles and hypersonic nuclear missiles flying at 5 times the speed of sound, humans are unnecessary on the battlefield. But how do they cope with such weapons landing on strategic targets like airfields and nuclear plants like Fukushima? Human loss would also far surpass a conventional war and would be away from the battlefield.

It is a horrifying scenario to think of.

All of them. C'mon lah, follow the money. You can rest assured that that $300 million has a maybe another 100 tacked on the backend of it---off books, so it doesn't really exist. Good old fashioned bribe-the-politicians-for favours trick. Actually not a trick anymore since it is "business as usual".

I don't think you can compare China's OBOR to this "handout", simply because they are different things. OBORis primarily for trade. This "gift" is for "security".

OBOR's progress so far.

I don't have any faith and zero-trust in ASEAN. I think they're a pack of wankers.

How many will fall into this trap?

Vietnam for sure. Philippines also, though Duterte has internal differences within his country about supporting China.

Myanmar not so sure while still under military control under the surface, but looks to be following the money trail as well.

Indonesia has a mind of its own, with the world's largest muslim population.

Malaysia also has a mind of its own like Indonesia. Hard to fathom.

Japan - One Natural Disaster After Another With No Respite!

Winds from the powerful Typhoon Trami are battering southwestern Japan. The storm could make landfall on the main islands on today.

All train services have been suspended snd most airports are closed.

More than 3 million people are being evacuated, to prepare for the worst.

If you are flying to Japan today, it is wiser to postpone it.

For those who still use the name "Uncle Sam", this is an old-fashioned term, already way outdated.

The US of A used to be rich and threw money around the world as aids. That's why people called US as "Uncle Sam" (which incidentally also stood for Surface-to-Air Missiles).

Now, the US of A is totally broke. Bankrupt! With debts amounting to $27 Trillions and counting.

The US of A is basically a pauper now. However, due to its mere economic size and persistent printing of money, it can still survive but not for long. It survives mainly because of the sales of arms and continued instigation of conflicts all around the globe.

So, the right name for the US of A today is not "Uncle Sam" but "Unscrupulous Sam"!

Hi Hunter, the only way for Japan to Salvation from all these Natural Catastrophes and Disasters is very SIMPLE.

Just simply show Remorse and Atone for their Sins for their Past Atrocities.

Simply APOLOGIZE to all the countries that they have committed their heinous War Crimes.

Compensate all that had suffered under their hands. Don't be U Ass A puppies and stir shits everywhere. Be magnanimous like the Chinese.

Get Shamans from Korea, Hei Shous (monks) from China or from the Siow Lim Temples and our PAPies soothsayers to pray for them.

Sure, Disasters, Hurricanes and what's not would be diverted to Dotard Trump.

Cheers

Yes, agree with you, Virgo49.

The vast countless numbers of unsatisfied, unhappy, unsettling and vengeful spirits, souls and ghosts are too much to content with.

Japanese future generations will continue to reap what evil deeds their ancestors had done.

Uncle Sam is still feared by many. Money is power but more powerful than money is its arsenal of nukes. Even Russia and China have to show a little respect to this uncle and its exceptionalism. Uncle Sam is growing poorer but underestimating Uncle Sam's military prowess is sheer folly.

Trump & America are going NUTs making an enemy of a country whose people:
1. Built the railways as slaves for them.
2. Provide cheap well cooked takeaway food.
3. Make numerous high quality cheap products for American consumers, and extremely low wages.
4. Buy their treasury bonds, enabling them just to print US dollar & buy more goods & services.
5. Help make their MNCs super rich.
6. Have not provoked them, at most defended the North Koreans at the verge of defeat, and who withdrew from the territory, just like with Vietnam.
7. Who suffered a hundred years of humiliation in the hands of the Japanese (who declared war on America) and Western powers.
DT is a man without knowledge of history & a misguided bully.

@ Virgo

I must admit, that China's motherboard "chip hack" is fucking genius. I wonder what else they have which no one's discovered yet.

This tiny chip is in the motherboards which run computers of CIA drone ops, US Navy, and other crucial state-level stuff, plus of course private corporations...or anyone who runs servers using motherboards made in China. If you notice from the pic, the chip is TINY. Unless you are looking for it, and it was found only because of 3rd party testing.

Are our China-made phones also compromised? It wouldn't surprise me if some of them are. Since the chip is "added cost", the more expensive phones IMO could be likely targets.

China's "hacker army" is HUGE. Estimated size 50,000 to 100,000 hackers, which makes China have the LARGEST hacker group in the world.

Good luck trying to fight these guys lah.
