Meritocracy in practice in the red dot

I will stretch this statement to include graciousness and discipline in practice. Was at the train station this morning and found long queues, neat and tidy rows of people queuing up for the trains. So I joined the queue with about 20 people ahead. Just as I was thinking how nice, disciplined and orderly, a bunch of foreign workers surged forward and planted themselves on both sides of the barrier door. The Singaporeans remained in the queue and many missed the train as those crowding the doors were able to push themselves in first.

Singaporeans are not only courteous, polite and well mannered. Unfortunately this gracious streak, nurtured over the years, made them easy victims to the coarse and callous foreigners who would yell and scold them for the slightest thing, even when asking the foreigners to join the queue.

And while the Singaporeans would avoid littering, keep the streets clean, the foreigners would leave their litters and sputum everywhere, even raining them down from the flats.

And in employment and job placements, Singaporeans will write in their resumes exactly what they are, what they have and their job experience. They could not lie as one phone call would expose them of any misinformation. The foreigners could dress up their resumes like that of George Bush or Obama and got the job. No one really knows or can verify their resumes, or it is too troublesome to make that phone call to nowhere.

This is how meritocracy is being practiced in Singapore. The Singaporeans ended with the wrong end of the stick for being too nice, too orderly and too straight and honest. They did not know that they have cheated by the foreigners who demanded that Singaporeans practise meritocracy and play fair.

How stupid can Singaporeans be? Or how meritocratic can Singaporeans be?

Mr Redbean,

Singaporeans too well mannered and docile since schooled in the PAP system not to kpkb.

So these bloody trashes took us as easy meats and think we are sick cats.

Even the Authorities sided with these trashes. That's why we are been bullied by them

RB, I was in Taiwan last week. My experience with PRC is appalling. They are rude and make lots of noise in the hotel lobby area by talking loudly. Behaviour in the dinning room (free breakfast) was more annoying.

When queuing up for Immigration at the airport, these people do not respect queue. They just cut in as though you are not there. I was so upset that when a European lady looked at me and shake her head, I just had to say loudly (in English) that these are PRCs. Not sure if they understand English.

To top my frustration I witnessed a quarrel between a lady passenger and security screening officials. The lady passenger eventually flashed a Singapore passport but obviously she is from China as she spoken English and Mandarine clearly indicated so.

What bloody quality of new immigrants are we bringing in? We have to thank PAP for all these shits.

I must agree with you. Newly rich peasants, very uncouth. Think someone should set up a school in China on social graces and manners for the nouve riche.

Many of them survived the cultural revolution era, living like peasants in the fields. It will take time for them to polish away the rough edges, one or two generations may be needed.

Bro, once in a check in flight already at the boarding gate.

All screened clean to board the plane in the holding area. A PRC couple holding red sin passports insisted that they want to go the restrooms.

The staff do not allow them and they made hell of noise.

Told them to use plane toilets when they board or they should have relieve themselves earlier.

In the end still had to allow them to go to the restrooms.

No choice, very garang

'God made rich PRC's to teach Singaporeans a lesson in patience and restraint.'

God do not do such things. He only created the beautiful things in this world. The ugly ones are created by demon and his partners. Pls go and read the bible if you have doubts.

To survive well in sg, have to be very evil. This is what the ruling party want to turn us into. They are the demon partners. Try your best to migrate and learn to stop voting for demonic party.

Many such peasants survived by executing the heads of the landlords and their children. They have blood in their hands. Now, they are going to lord over sinkies. Try your best to migrate.

Queuing up is meritocracy? Hello Mister, you must be getting old and senile.

If meritocracy came in expense of job development of its citizens then it is useless.

Look at our current IT and tech service employment.
Many of the posts are held by foreigners. When they left, we lost not only a 'talent' but also an experienced competitor.

We must find ways to gain
experience from working with the foreigners. By giving jobs to foreigners to gain
temporary benefits is not certainly the way.

There are many unwanted foreigner bashing but we must recognized quality job loss by many fellow Singaporeans are real.

Hi Raymond,

How much are they paying you to come here and attack me? If money is all you want, tell us, we will pay you double the amount.

When you do this kind of work, please don't let your parents and wife and children know. It is very shameful to do this as a job.

Veritas sprouting nonsense so ever frequently. Smary and clever people whether collectively as a Race, Society or individuals, will not fall victim to manipulation and exploitation. Matilah is a living proof here and he is of the most minor species here, a mix race creature.

At the same time, Veritas seems to overlook the fact that bullying is worst within similar species. The Brahmin versus the lower castes though all Indians. In Sin the Rulers against the people who chose them as leaders for five decades, All are Sinkies and mostly of the majority Race.

Veritas is righteous and chilvarous, though relatively well off as himself disosed, he is very indignant at the greed and avarice of the Rulers who have little regard for the people. He does not fear voicing his feeling and only thing lacking so far is action. As a very well read and wide travelled person, he left me the impression that he only connects with others in writings. Something very similar to a few wellknown regular bloggers. One had just returned to nature.

History is important for us to know our origins and the past, hower, those creating history for the future are the ones we can look forward to change our living. Past is a reference, making something worth recording and memorable for the future is what is needed. Harping on the past with no action to change is pointless.

Like reading your writings but do not see the usefulness of your recalling of history. Many are redundant and some irrelevant. You are candid and spontaneous though.
