The arrest of Meng Wanzhou has pitted China against the little country called Canada and its boy PM and girly FM. For the moment China is daily increasing pressure to squeeze these two naive twits to release Meng. The twits are stubbornly hanging on to their stupid position and risking the lives of Canadians being detained and arrested by China. For their childish pride and ego, they could not care about the lives of Canadians, one already sentenced to death, and Canadian business and economy. They just would not admit their stupidity.
Nearly two months have passed and China is still directing attacks at the silly boy and girl for acting as US's little doggies. In a way this is to hammer the unthinking boy and girl for acting silly. You want to fool around with China you will be caned and real hard.
The Americans have been off the Chinese radar so far though being the real devil. This would not be long. The Canadian ambassador in the US, David MacNaughton, has told the Canadian boy and girl that the US intend to extradite Meng before 30 Jan 19. When this is carried out, China would be forced to act against the US as well.
During this period, China has been actively negotiating a trade deal with the US to end the trade war. And the deal is almost done. What would China do if Meng is extradited to the USA to face life imprisonment? Would China close an eye and sacrifice Meng and go ahead with the trade deal? Doing so would seriously challenge the credibility of China in its ability to protect its own citizens from devious and illegal arrest by other countries, in this case the evil Empire. China as a big power would be watched by the whole world on how it prioritise trade and economic interest over national interest and national pride.
The whole Chinese population and Chinese around the world would also be watching if China would sacrifice its own citizens for money and be humiliated by the Americans once more. Another humiliation on China today would likely see the fall of Xi Jinping as the absolute ruler of modern China. Chinese pride and patriotism would not accept Xi to capitulate in this case. If China can forsake its own citizen, an important commercial top executive, it would be read as China would forsake all its citizens and those Chinese around the world. The new law to protect ethnic Chinese around the world would become a bluff. This is a tough call for Xi and to go ahead with the trade deal is NOT an option.
China and Xi cannot compromise Chinese pride and nationalism for economic gains, pride and nationalism cannot be exchanged for money, cannot be bought or traded.
Xi Jinping would be put to a severe test and his mental toughness as the leader of China and a world leader would either go up or go bust. Xi cannot afford to be seen to be bullied by the Americans. It is time that China takes action against the Americans by arresting a few senior American executives for committing crimes or espionage against China to trade with Trump. Being meek and weak would only invite more bullying and humiliation.

Meng has been in detention and under ill treatments by the Canadian Courts judges, policemen and politicians for two months already. That is two months too long. This means Xi Jinping's measures and counter-measures have been very ineffective to bring Meng home, thereby allowing her to suffer tremendously under the Mafia's hands. This is UNACCEPTABLE!
If I were Meng's father, I would be extremely FURIOUS. Furious at the Chinese Ambassador in Canada for doing sweet FO to ensure the immediate release of Meng. Furious for Meng being treated like a war-time criminal. Furious at the Chinese Foreign Minister for being uneffective and not aggressive enough (behaving like an eunuch - no testicles). The abduction of Sabrina Meng by Canada and her possible extradition by Uncle Sam are pathetic attempts to derail the Chinese Dream. They target Huawei and 5G. China will not be distracted and can easily overcome such obstacles using the carrot and big stick tactic. China has big big plans. Its trillion-dollar BRI is being labelled as the "Plan of the Century". It is 12 times more massive than the Marshal Plan.

China's continuous efforts to deepen reforms should be the best strategy while aiming for sustained growth amid the gloomy global growth outlook, a renowned U.S. economist has said.
Stephen Roach, senior fellow at Yale University's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, told Xinhua via an email interview on Monday that personal income growth underpinned by employment and wage earnings, corporate profits as the key determinant of business investment, and the state of global economic activity as the key determinant of external demand and exports are among the important metrics to gauge the growth momentum of an economy.
"From the standpoints of these factors, resilient employment and wages are encouraging, as are ongoing stability in corporate earnings; however, the greatest source of potential weakness for China is concentrated in the emerging deterioration in global demand," said Roach, who is also the former chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia.
"For China, the best strategy has long been centered on reforms. It will be important to avoid backtracking on existing reforms and repeating the mistakes of others," he added.
The longtime China watcher noted that China's ongoing efforts at deleveraging, excess-capacity shedding, market-oriented state-owned enterprise reforms and China's recent move to widen market access for foreign investment are in the right direction in fostering a more competitive economy.
The world's second-largest economy grew by 6.6 percent year-on-year to reach 90.0309 trillion yuan (about 13.28 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2018, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Monday.
Commenting on China's economic performance in 2018, the ex-Morgan Stanley senior executive stressed that it would be important to look behind the headline gross domestic product (GDP) report and examine carefully the components of the gain -- especially the split between tertiary and secondary activity in order to assess China's ongoing progress in structural rebalancing.
"I remain fundamentally optimistic on China's economic prospects," said Roach, adding that his optimism will be vindicated as the country is pressing ahead with further reforms by seizing the key moment.
The NBS's data also showed consumption played an increasingly bigger role in the economy, contributing 76.2 percent of GDP growth, up significantly 18.6 percentage points from a year ago, and from the perspective of industrial structure, the tertiary industry accounted for 52.2 percent of the total.
Like many other economists, Roach also highlighted China's significant role in maintaining world economic stability.
"China accounted for approximately 30 percent of the cumulative growth in world GDP since 2010; absent this support, there is a very good chance that the world would have lapsed back into renewed global recession in the aftermath of the financial crisis," he said.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced on Wednesday that the country has cut off diplomatic relations with the United States, giving American diplomats 72 hours to leave the country.
The United States has rejected Maduro's move to break diplomatic ties, saying it did not think he had the authority to cut ties and it would conduct relations with a government led by opposition leader Juan Guaido.
Earlier that day, US President Donald Trump said that the United States had recognized Guaido as the Venezuela's "interim president," a move that came after Maduro was inaugurated as president of the Latin American country earlier this month.
Even Canadian Ambassador to China John McCallum says Meng Wanzhou has good arguments to fight extradition to the US !
McCallum made three points Tuesday that he said are good arguments against her extradition to US.
"One, political involvement by comments from Donald Trump in her case. Two, there's an extraterritorial aspect to her case. And three, there's the issue of Iran sanctions which are involved in her case, and Canada does not sign on to these Iran sanctions," McCallum said.
Gary Botting, a Vancouver lawyer who specializes in extradition cases, agreed with McCallum's overview. He said that on his first point, regarding the US president, Trump has politicized the process.
"Trump has implied that the US can use her as a bargaining chip — and that is precisely what the treaty says is an exception to the extradition process," Botting said. "A person will not be extradited if it is for a political purpose or if the person is deemed to be part of that political purpose."
The most important part of Meng's defence in her extradition case is whether her actions in the US would also be considered criminal conduct in Canada, known as the "principle of double criminality."
McCallum suggested that Meng's case may not meet that principle, as she is being accused of violating US sanctions against Iran that Canada did not sign on to.
