Sanctions and tariffs are not making USA great. They are making the USA dependent on crutches to walk, just trying to pull other countries down to its decaying level and not to help the country to move forward anyway.
For China, necessity is the mother of invention, and by knowing what is necessary, it has helped China to innovate, find solutions in the face of adversity and move forward as a result. What does not kill China will make it even stronger.
In just forty years, China has achieved much in the eyes of the world. Just lifting more than 800 million people out of poverty is an achievement that no other country can outdo. And a 800 million population is more than double the population of the USA or the combined population of the European countries.
In other areas, China is now a peer competitor for the USA in almost all dimension, even in space technology. NASA is wallowing in all sorts of problems regarding its rockets for its moon landing, postponing launches with all kinds of excuses.

The USA is demanding this and that from China still intending to show the world it is in charge.
It wants China to stop exporting so that the USA can hold the world hostage with its manufacturing agenda. China not exporting as it does today mean its factories will have to close down or uprooted to other countries. But to be sure, China will not invest anymore in the USA and that is a certainty.
The USA wants to make China go back to the stone age so that it can rule in perpetuity, just like it tried to do to Japan and Germany, which is wishful thinking. Japan and Germany needed the USA market for their exports. China has a big domestic market and together with the Global South is not like Japan and Germany. Far from it.
The USA is now demanding that China must join in the renewal of the expired Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty with the Russians, in order for the USA to exert control over China's expanding nuclear deterrence and allow the USA to dictate to China with its superior nuclear arsenal. China should never be forced into a corner knowing that its deterrence is what keeps China safe against its enemies surrounding it.
Imagine Scott Bessent telling the world that China is trying to harm the global economy. In his mind, all the harm to the global economy must be the sole prerogative of the USA. It is now actually doing that with Trump using sanctions and tariffs against other countries to harm trade and create chaos and confusion. The biggest harm was adding insult to injury by gloating about countries having to crawl to Washington to kiss his bottom. That must be the mother of all insults, and yet some shameless idiots still crawled to Washington to pay obeyance to the spoilt juvenile president.
Scott Bessent keeps comforting himself by repeating that China will not weaponize its treasury holdings and investments in other assets against the USA. Like Trump, he thinks he is in control of what China wants to do. China already sold off half of its treasury holdings, waiting for an opportune time to retaliate further when the shit hits the fan. China is just holding back on its leverage and not dispense with it totally.
China and the Global South are perfect twins. China makes and sells good quality goods to the Global South and can still survive with small profit margins. And the Global South are very happy with what they are buying from China, easy on their pockets.
Japan and Europe, also America, cannot afford to sell to the Global South and survive because they need big profit margins, selling goods at high prices which the Global South cannot afford to buy.
The USA is in self-destruct mode. Trump is fighting against the judicial system, which is surfacing, now that his 15% tariff is adjudged to be illegal as well. Military generals meanwhile are worried about the impending Iran strike and are warning Trump about consequences. Democrats are going full throttle against Trump's sidekicks, grilling them and eliciting warp responses and refusal to answer questions.
Trump's impeachment is near and he knows it. Congress has to approve the war against Iran, and has remained mute, which is not assured and Trump is stuck in limbo. If he goes ahead without Congress approval, he is dead meat.
Meanwhile, despite the painting of a rosy picture about job creation and the frail economy, people around the world are not swallowing the gloating. Bond sales have crumpled, debt maturing this year of US$10 trillion has to be refunded and is not happening. While money printing has lifted the stock market, people know all this is just window-dressing.
The USA, according to geopolitical watchers, is at the 5th stage of a seven-stage empire ending signal, just like what the British went through. And Trump will have the honors to see that happening at warp speed.
