Myanmar is very important for China. Myanmar, as I always say, has a long border with Myanmar, which can be a National Security Risk for China if it falls into the hands of the USA. China is not going to let that happen if it means going all out to support the Myanmar Government.
When National Security Issues are at stake, China will act as in the Korean Peninsula and Vietnam. The fall of North Korea in its war with the South will be detrimental for China's security, as the wide border with North Korea can be exploited by the USA and Japan.
Similarly, the fall of North Vietnam to the South will be a National Security issue for China with its long border that can be exploited by the USA. After all, China already did much to help Ho Chi Minh of North Vietnam to get rid of the French in Indo-China decades earlier, and China does not want to see all that go to waste after all the sacrifices.
Therefore, it will be a mistake to think that China will abandon Myanmar and allow it to fall into the hands of the USA with the help of its cronies in ASEAN.

China does not abandon countries that it helped before. China had given help to Africa for decades, since the visit of Chou En Lai in 1963, even when it was dirt poor itself, and Chou made a promise that had been kept to this day of helping Africa. Did China push North Korea under the bus after the Korean War? The West had attempted to split the good relations between China and North Korea with veiled fabrication of disagreements. Did China abandon Vietnam after helping it to fight the USA? China is still Vietnam's biggest trading partner and a great investment destination for Chinese investors. That is how Vietnam grew so fast over the last decade or two. It made the USA nervous and paranoid.
Now China is even helping Afghanistan to rebuild its economy and infrastructure. In fact, China has no roots in Afghanistan before and yet is willing to help in its reconstruction. One thing though, China should not help in Ukraine with its reconstruction when things go back to normal. After all, Ukraine is not in a position to pay for any reconstruction. Let the USA and the Europeans do the rebuilding and set their own debt traps for Ukraine under the IMF or World Bank.
NATO's intention to expand by dangling a membership carrot to Ukraine is to exploit the long border between Ukraine and Russia. This will enable the USA to station missiles inside Ukraine to threaten Moscow.
The intention was never about providing a good motive to help Ukraine to benefit from NATO membership. The intention embodies a more insidious agenda that Putin saw through.
Thus, do not underestimate the intention of the USA in Myanmar, the same as in Korea and Vietnam, in trying to exploit their long borders with China.
What's there to benefit from NATO Benefits?
