SPH last saga on its way to become SPH Media Trust

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS

The quicker these investigations are completed the better. For the sake of preserving public interest, some of the questions that must be answered are: First, if the audit was initiated nine months ago, why did it take this long for the information to be made public?...

Second, some commentators have observed that much of what SPH Media did is accepted industry practice. After all, it has been said, figuring out the exact numbers of newspapers sold is very difficult, so it’s okay to grant media companies leeway. ...(very difficult to count, accepted industry practice????)

Third, how long has the practice of arbitrarily inflating circulation been going on? SPH used to be a listed company that enjoyed monopoly status in the local media scene, so it is astounding that it had to resort to artificially inflating its circulation figures, yet that appears to be the reality today.

If the practice does extend back several years, then SGX will have its work cut out in determining if any action needs to be taken regarding disclosures from those periods.

As things stand, there are more questions than answers in the minds of the public. For a start, answers to those which appear above should be forthcoming as soon as possible.

David Gerald is founder, president, and CEO of the Securities Investors Association (Singapore).

Above is part of an article by David Gerald in the CNA on the SPH saga of 'inflated circulation figures'. Brackets and in bold were my additions.  There are many questions that the public would want to know. The critics are out in full force to demand for transparency and accountability.

Not to worry, the govt would not leave any stone unturned to get to the bottom of this. There will be no cover ups. Everyone involved would be named. No one is above the law. Just give the govt some time. Singapore is well known for being an incorruptible nation and wearing the badges of honour, honesty and transparency on its chest.

Just be patient. It may take as long and as thorough as the Aljunied Hougang Town Council case, but the truth would be told. The best auditors would he hired to dig through the files. And for sure many MPs would be asking questions in Parliament for the truth.

Keppel Management and staff are a special breed of Elites?

Corruption charges just a slap on their wrists.

Remember that How Lian Executive from there to be nominated as a potential to be MP in our last elections?

When their colleagues and also those in the Reserves Army started to sing out his arrogance and then he was replaced and they promised to investigate when the elections is over. Where got? No sound no nothing.

Just like the Americunts.
Their own always covered their own pantaks.

Many of these bootleggers and balls carriers who made good not thru their ability and also as commissioned Officers when they served in NS and even now in Reserves thought that they are still in the Army and behaved towards their civil colleagues as though they are still their kia kias yo be bullied.

Never know that they are just also salary men.

Also earning a living like others.
