The hospital said so, Hsien Loong also said so. This is a true sign of
being prepared for it. The hospitals are all well prepared and equipped
with all the protocols in place. MOH has also started to screen
passengers from South Korea.
With the rapid spread of MERS there, we know that they have fouled up
badly. We cannot do less than them. We have our experience with SARS and
know exactly what to do.The govt is well prepared, are the people and
commercial organizations well prepared as well?
This MERS thing is not just the job of the govt. One thing for sure, the
SMRT is the most well prepared for MERS, to spread like wild fire if a
MERS infected passenger happens to be in a jam packed train. The tightly
confined cabin with the recycling of little air in them makes it a
perfect contraption for the spread of MERS in the shortest possible
time. Our shopping centres and all airconditioned environment are ideal
breeding grounds for MERS to spread.
What about the people? Are the people equipped to defend themselves
against the spread of MERS? The haze season is still a few months ahead
and there is no need to issue protective masks to the people yet. With a
more deadly and contagious disease like MERS that will come, only a
matter of days, could be the next hour, why are the masks not issued to
the people? Are the people told to start buying masks and start to wear
masks or to wait until an incident strikes?
When should the people be prepared for this attack since it is a matter
of time before it arrives? The preparedness of the govt and hospital is
only a small part of the equation.

MERS is spreading fast!
Sincerely hope that we are 101% ready for MERS!
Hope is not a case of 不见棺材不流泪!
Cheers.
Read somewhere that the symton can only be detected after about 2 weeks which I cannot confirm.
If that is the case then it can be easily brought into another country .Country A brought into country B.New case cannot detect so country B may have such risk.
As such screening on arrival only from country A may not be effective.
Screening should be done on all visitors instead.
ideally hold arrival visitors for 2 weeks before screening to allow access.Airport pack bopian.Lesser visitors oso bopian.
Sinkies life more important.
How about building more hotel rooms as holding room for future cases.
This one no play play.
Must thanks the garmen for their past success to control such cases.
Looks like I got to sacrifice my prebook ticket again.
Aiya, I thought we had SARS before what. And that was more than 10 years ago.
And we handled it well and survive and even prosper till today, and with PAP continuing as govt. And with many more foreigners now too, and so far bo tai chi (no trouble).
So why should handling MERS be any different, u tell me lah?
And why should the outcome of next GE be any different from the last?
when there was SAR, property down down down......
will property down down down this time when we have MERS.......
???????????????????????????????????

Only screen from South Korea??
This MERs can come from anywhere. Just like an infected possie or ah Quay who spreads to many customers.
Singapore world renowned air port with daily millions of people in and out.
Now with so many human rats squeezed together, infection sure very affective, oops effective one.
See how many sinkies or foreign talents die from this episode.
As a gauge bring in the 10 millions.
@ everyone:
It is impossible to adequately "prepare" for an emergence like MERS. The attitude you have to adopt is ADAPTABILITY---being able to change and quickly implement "policy" and protocols as the threat evolves.
All you can do is the usual: wash hands, wear face masks, scan at airports....that sort of thing....and the most important activity: collect as much DATA as possible so you can come up with RELIABLE statistics to predict probabilities etc.
Guess what? It comes down to MATH, again. As usual, the govt talks cock---they don't understand, and neither do most of the people they are speaking to.
Here are the models It's heavy on the maths side. Epidemiology, transmission models etc etc.
That's how the shit works. Not by yakkity yak chitter chatter from "layman" brains lah.
Get back to your studies, children. Or quick-talking adults will rise to blind you with bullshit all your lives.
Of course we are well prepared lah!

Yah. The best. They are so good, they have their own special place in heaven. When they get to heaven, they will be assigned to run the show over there, because of their track record in running an awesome place like Singapore! God is going to retire soon and Lee Kuan Yew will take over. God uses lightning to strike people down. Lee Kuan Yew will use knuckle dusters and lawsuits to fuck you up.
Anyway, MERS was detected back in 2012, and has been "silent" until now. Don't know whether the virus is still in the Middle East. We will soon find out as the annual Muslim Hajj occurs in September, when millions of Muslims converge in (the US Protectorate) of Saudi Arabia, and then return to their home cuntrees. Will these religious motherfuckers be bringing MERS home with them?
Hahahhaa...we will soon find out. ;-)
Singapore must be prepared for MERS: PM Lee

Lu Kong Simi Lanjiao?
Why our PM Lee never talk about a vaccine for MERS?
Isn't prevention better than cure or just talking about it?

What kind of prime minister would promote a MERS mania just to leave for his holiday in Hokkaido shortly after that?
And just look at the data set, 53 cases out of 53 tested negative -- all false alarm!!!
That is worse than the HK outcome.
Please lah, stop trying to pretend you are all well prepared and distracting people's attention on the MOE Sabah explanation.
Spend more time preparing for your answers to the anxious parents lah.
Why he go to Hokkaido?
Why he never holiday in Fukushima to inspect the nuclear disaster there?
Has the PAP government abandoned it's nuclear policy in Singapore yet?
"Singapore is starting a $63 million, five-year programme to conduct research and education in nuclear safety, science, and engineering, the National Research Foundation announced on Wednesday morning."

Singapore must be preparing for a nuclear attack or disaster here. How would this happen?
$63m for this programme! How about another $100m to study living in a space ship?
I think the most immediate need is to spend a few hundred million studying living underground as the cavern is already ready for occupation.
@ unenlightened fear monger 904:
>> "Singapore is starting a $63 million, five-year programme to conduct research and education in nuclear safety, science, and engineering, the National Research Foundation announced on Wednesday morning." <<
Please lah kotek. That is necessary expense. Singapore is energy hungry plus the population will probably grow to around 10 million in many of our lifetimes. Therefore, a "mix" of energy sources will be required to power the place to maintain its AWESOMENESS in the world.
China has around 50 nuclear reactors in the works and they are already almost halfway there in construction and operation. They are also THE world leader in de-carbonising their society and economy. One of the most heavily polluted cuntrees in history is cleaning up their act FASTER than most other cuntrees.
India too has about 20 nuclear plants and investing heavily in THORIUM reactors, which are safer and "cleaner" (in terms of nuclear waste) than conventional uranium reactors.
Singapore too has its Thorium fans rooting for Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactors at Thorium For Singapore. Go to their forum, and it is quite active with over 600 members.
So whether you like it or not, many "enlightened" people in Singapore are moving on with the idea of nuclear power for Singapore....and I am proudly one of these "crazy" people.
The Fukushima disaster was largely the result of cover-ups, deceit and backside-protecting/ passing the buck by government and its agencies. It is not that nuclear power is dangerous. Don't be fooled: NUCLEAR POWER IS DANGEROUS, but it can be made safeR. Driving at freeway speeds is also dangerous. But it can be made safeR by encouraging safe driving behaviour---like not using your handphone whilst driving or driving drunk or medicated.
100% safety is IMPOSSIBLE. That's just a fact of life. Everything has RISK associated with it.
Thank you enlightened one. 100% is impossible. You just need that 0.01% error and this little rock is no longer habitable. No where to run.
Enlightened one, tell us please, enlightened us please.
Fuck head claiming to be the enlightened one. What a joke.
