A remarkable comment

'...more Opposition voices might not improve the quality of Parliamentary debate.' With the standard of debate so high, not necessary really. I can agree with that. But I can't agree with the suggestion that the time given to NCMPs for debates be limited. What, NCMP cannot debate or not good enough to debate? How can a Parliamentary debate be meaningful if the NCMPs are not given the same time to debate with other MPs? Ok, NCMPs don't represent anyone so should not be given too much time. This sounds more reasonable. Let's give them enough time just to ask questions. That should be good enough. Aren't the purpose of NCMPs be that they be there to give an alternative voice? They can't vote and the only thing for them to do is to speak. Limiting their time to speak defeats the whole purpose of them being there. Wall flowers?

Mr. Bean.

You are so kind to call them "wall flowers".

I don't want to say what I think because you might kick me out of your blog.

Hehe.

How is it that i always find them(in telecasts) sleepy, lifeless and appeared liked they were forced to attend something they never liked.

But, funny, many of them can all of a sudden jeered at opposition members. Their acts in unison were so uncanny. Seemed liked they pakat(pre-arranged scheme) very well.

So it begs the question: whom does the NCMPs represent if MPs do not represent them? Then what are the MPs doing?

And if it's debate they really want, then have oppositions! Then you can really have proper debates. If not, it is as if you have an internal auditor to sign-off another internal auditor's books.

Also if there is not authority given or representative power, then probably their speeches and debates are just... a waste of time.

No wonder a lot look tired and sleepy.

Laughable, truly laughable!

May the farce be with us!

Just thinking out loud.

Is this the only country with such "impotent" MPs. If so, who says Singaporeans lack creativity?

LMAO with Hehe.

With all the contradictory comments, inconsistency and incoherent remarks, how good were the debates in parliament? It is more nonsense than anything else.

It is quite clear now why they want to have more NCMPs. Just put them there but make them impotent by giving them little time to debate with other MPs.

Might be a good idea to ask the Japanese to fix up a couple of robots instead to sit in our Parliament. The world's first robotic Parliament!
