The US should welcome China’s best scientific minds into its universities to compete with the mainland’s success in AI, American lawmakers in Washington heard on Thursday, as Chinese start-up DeepSeek unnerved the global tech market this week.

“Let’s steal their best engineers,” said Melanie Hart of the Washington-based Atlantic Council at a hearing convened by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Referencing the Chinese talent behind DeepSeek’s AI models, Hart testified that “we’d be better off if the engineers behind that were working here in the US”.

To achieve that, she continued, students from the mainland would need to feel safe in America, adding: “We can beat Beijing at making Chinese scientists feel safe.”

Hart’s comments came as Washington debates how best to retain top talent while safeguarding US intellectual property rights and national security.

They also coincide with a growing trend of US-based Chinese scientists returning to the mainland, driven in part by concerns of racial profiling under American national security policies.

Red Dot toying with nuclear option for 10m or 20m population?

 Right. And that is what Iran now wants.

Oops, Red Dot is also doing feasibility studies about having nuclear power stations if I read correctly. A feasibility study in 2012 had deemed it unsuitable for safety reasons. If it does become reality, I wonder where that nuclear power station will be sited. Will neighbors take issue if it is sited on one of the satellite islands close to them? Maybe the Istana will be a good place, next to the President's palace. But in case of a nuclear accident, everyone on the island is going to lose their lives. We have nowhere

r how long can Singaporeans remain underground and how many people can those underground stations take in? Nuclear fallout is not a day or two to be settled. Even smog took weeks to clear. We are talking about years, decades and centuries even.

Just my two cents worth thinking about it. Maybe the experts have already studied the issue and knows how to deal with it. Moreover, China is on the verge of having small nuclear power generating equipment, maybe even portable ones, LOL. Problem is there are still nuclear waste to consider.

Trump throwing Canada and Mexico over the cliff

 Trump's tariffs punishing China is not going to work well for the reason that China has alternative markets to turn to like the Global South. Chinese products can still compete hands down against others outside of the USA and EU. And China has already captured that market for itself.

The tariffs may do more harm to allies like Canada and the EU countries, that have little leeway to compete outside of the USA for their exports and have to depend on the USA market. Canada, a close neighbor of the USA should have seen what is coming long ago. But it chooses to grovel at the feet of Trump and later Biden, following the USA in demonizing, sanctioning and threatening China.

The fact that Trump's policies favor neither friend nor foe is significant. Allies were usually treated more favorably in USA administrations in the past, which is why trade agreements were formulated. Trump is basically throwing everything into the dust bin, just like sidelining climate change and calling it a 'hoax'.

China had already been prepared for what Trump is going to do to China, exploring and securing markets for its manufactures beyond the USA and EU. Thinking ahead has its privileges and the early bird catches the worm. Besides securing markets, China had also secured raw materials that are required for its industries and now China fears no trade wars and can retaliate when needed.

As someone commented, China is not fooling around this time and is serious about de-coupling from the USA, whether the USA is feigning it or not. The start of 2025 already saw China unveiling its 6th generation fighter jet, its AI challenge against the USA, its readiness to retaliate head-on against USA challenges whatever it takes. What China is doing is just sending a message to the USA that enough is enough.

American mindless gangsters conducting an inquisition on DeepSeek

 Have you guy come across the news that Nvidia chips used by DeepSeek as alleged, which I understood to be those high-end ones, were bought from someone in Singapore. If that is true, somebody's backside is going to be sore. I also read somewhere that some USA senators, or whatever, in the face of this accusation, have sounded the narrative about taking action against Red Dot as well.

Trump will even sue his grandmother bankrupt if she crossed him. Same as Canada now. Same as Mexico and India now, Same will be applied to Red Dot too in time to come. Oops, did I also say that being a friend of the USA is fatal?

India seems to have a change of heart in demonizing China lately. Even Mr Hunzi thinks so, with Palki Sharma now singing a different tune, more cordial than before rather than demonical at times, and even siding with China in the DeepSeek saga. Of course, India is involved also in a dispute with OpenAI over infringement of copyrights by OpenAI. So, the enemy of my enemy is now my friend. How things are changing.

Trump better be careful, as Palki Sharma is a seasoned propagandist, the mouthpiece of Modi. Indian propagandist can be more of a handful to deal with, as they can talk like machine guns nonstop. Do not make Palki Sharma angry.

The authoritarian regime in Washington does not believe in freedom of choice

Does anyone still need more explanation or evidence to change their belief that America is all about democracy, freedom and freedom of choice, the free world etc etc? Only the unthinking, idiots and brain dead would still believe in the American lies about freedom and the free world.

Domestically, the Americans have just awakened to the painful truth that their govt has been lying to them with all the propaganda and fake news about the world especially about China, Russia and countries Washington clowns have conveniently branded or demonised as enemies. America is the best place to be in, the highest standard of living, the American Dream is worth living and dying for.  The myths and facade of lies have come crumbling down, making the clowns in Washington looking like real clown and worst, compulsive liars.

Americans have not been free to access real news of the world. They have been fed daily with lies and propaganda by the evil regime in Washington. They are not allowed to access social media, apps unless approved by the authoritarian regime in Washington. Washington would censor what they can see, read or hear and would ban anything that is telling the truth that they did not want the Americans to know. TikTok is facing threat of being banned, RedNote is also about to be banned.

And the latest, Americans are not allowed to use DeepSeek that is free but forced to pay for lesser but very expensive AIs. Americans are not allowed to use Huawei's advanced 5G technology, are not allowed to buy good, efficient and high tech EVs Made in China, highly useful drones from DJI. Soon they would not be allowed to buy cheap clothings, shoes, consumer goods, everything that is Made in China. They are stuck with their ancient train system, no high speed modern trains from China.

Internationally, countries, allies, cronies, friends or foes, are not allowed to use DeepSeek, only expensive and lesser AIs Made in America, not allowed to use Huawei's 5G technology as well. Countries are also not allowed to join BRI, BRICS, not allowed to work with Chinese companies that are cheaper and better, not allowed to trade with China, their biggest market. Countries also are not allowed to use their own currencies for trade, must only use the American dollar. This is the so called free world, freedom of choice, and outrageous mafia Rules Base Order ie American gangster rules and order.

The mafia Rules Base Order is now applied everywhere, to take over Gaza, Greenland, Mexico, the Panama Canal and more to come. Only very silly people, or American cronies would be spouting Rules Base Order day in and day out to please the American terrorists, to assure the Americans that they are still American cronies.
