Chinese companies are world beaters without the need to hire foreign CEOs

Who spread the myth that you need to hire foreign CEOs, with international experience, to lead MNCs? Who spread the myth that universities need to have foreign lecturers and foreign students to be called good? Oops, cosmetic value, to be on top of a superficial ladder to be noticed.

Who would benefit from silly countries believing in such myths and applying them without thinking? The scheme is good to create employment opportunities for foreigners at the expense of local academics. Foreigners got employed, gain exposure and experience while local academics ended up unemployed and collecting dust in the bookshelves. The same goes to the professionals in the industries. Giving good jobs to foreigners, pay them very well to get trained, gain experience to beef up their CVs. Singaporean professionals unemployed, with holes in their CVs, and many lost confidence in their own abilities and in themselves and become the jokes of foreigners. Unemployed, no income, no chance to be trained, no chance to gain experience....all the good opportunities given to foreigners.

Who would hire foreign CEOs to run companies that are not much different from chicken rice stalls, local environment, local customers, local laws and culture, and competing with local companies, and did not have business overseas? You need a foreigner with international exposure to run chicken rice stalls?

The people that invented such myths are not really smart. It is the suckers that believed in such myths that made them look smart, at the expense of the citizens and think they are very smart, still dare to ask the citizens to vote for them.

Practically every successful Chinese companies, world champion companies, are run by Chinese CEOs. Practically every big Chinese banks are headed by Chinese without international experience. And the top 4 international banks in the world, and several in the top ten, all have Chinese CEOs and are doing damn well, not collapsing, unlike American banks that hired foreign CEOs and are collapsing one by one. Many American MNCs are also collapsing one by one, all headed by foreign CEOs with international experience. These companies are now regretting but too late.

Are the successful banks and companies in Singapore successful because they hired foreign CEOs or because of their brand, the Singapore Brand? The Singapore Brand was built over several decades and has gained great recognition and acceptance. The DBS Bank is not just a bank, did not become successful because of a foreigner CEO, but because it is a Singapore Bank backed by the Singapore govt and Singapore's reputation as a bank that can be trusted, with the highest integrity and security.

And Tik Tok hired a Singaporean with no international experience other than his foreign education, to be its CEO and very successful. And Chinese universities are tops because of the quality of their academics and the work they produced, not because they have foreigners in their staff. They are tops for real good reasons, not cosmetic reasons. Not putting on lipsticks and mascara to look pretty.

What do you think? Should Chinese companies go overseas to head hunt for foreign CEOs to run down their successful businesses that are successful internationally?

PS. The Chinese are smart enough to learn only what is useful to them, not blindly following everything they see or hear.

Tariffs to kill competition...American EV industry would end up like NASA, zero progress in the last 50 years

The damage that tariffs will do to the USA is not totally understood in the longer term. But it does not matter to the two Presidential candidates as they know they only have four years to wallow, turn a deaf ear, print more toilet papers before throwing the problem to the next one.

First of all, Chinese EVs are not selling in the USA, but will overwhelm the USA market in time to come if not nipped in the bud. USA legacy vehicle manufacturers know that and are terrified of Chinese EVs destroying their legacy, and the Government had to succumb to their lobbying to stop Chinese EVs from cornering the USA market. It also is a financial windfall for the Government, laughing all the way to the bank at USA consumer's expense.

Next, without competition, innovation goes out the window and the USA will lag further behind the Chinese in clean energy vehicles and technology. The only way to move forward is taking competition head on under a level playing field for innovative technology to improve. Right now, EV technology is still far from mature and is innovating.

EV manufacturers like NIO are reported to be selling EVs without batteries, going big into battery swapping, instead of selling EVs with batteries that will make the vehicle cost much more. Tesla is also dabbling in EVs using battery swapping, but how far ahead is not clear. The USA already lost the edge, and this may not be possible even today for the USA to compete. It is too little too late even to try.

Apart from that, tariffs are an added cost for consumers who will be unable to buy cheaper cars and have to buy expensive cars made in the USA. Expanded to other consumer goods from China, tariffs are going to make cost of living a big issue in years to come.

There is now a port strike in the USA, with port workers demanding a 77% rise in wages. I could not believe that the port workers are demanding such an astronomical 77% wage increase. Putting that into perspective, it will add to the cost of goods imported into the USA. These port workers must be desperately trying to cope with the cost of living to make such atrocious demands.

Iranian missile attack no casualties, no damages? What a joke!

My first reaction when Israel claimed no major damage arising from the Iranian missile attack on their military airbase was how was that possible. Missiles exploding inside airbases does nothing to the planes and no casualties as well. The Israelis must be 'exceptional' or have done something magic to those missiles causing them to explode just like firecrackers. Who are they trying to fool?

In fact, the most major damage is that the 'Iron Dome' failed to protect those airbases, which I must assume to be surrounded by Patriot Missile Defense system. That the Iranian hypersonic missiles got through proves a very important point and destroyed the myth of the 'Iron Dome', which the Israelis are trying very hard to deny.

The genie is now out of the bottle and countries around the Middle East are learning how to overcome the 'Iron Dome' which has exerted in them a psychological fear. Netanyahu is now invoking God for help to overcome the current crisis. The faces of the Israeli top cats meeting Netanyahu exposed the gloom inside the Israeli camp.

So many videos on social media tells a different story of the Iranian missile attack, with some claiming the destruction of several F35s. Who is telling the truth and who is lying?

The Iron Dome myth, the Nato myth have all been destroyed. There is a big hole to be busted.

The 'Iron Dome' was indeed a myth created by Israel to deter the Arabs and Muslims from doing anything to Israel. This fear that missiles cannot break Israel is what cowed the Arabs and Muslims from attacking Israel. That myth managed to withstand for more than decade, a length of time during which the Arabs and Muslims were practically paralyzed with fear of the Israeli threat. No Arab or Muslim country tried to break it; no scrutiny mounted to test the theoretical effectiveness of the system.

The 'Iron Dome' myth had already been busted by Hamas in October 2023 and by Hezbollah months later by the Lebanese shooting cheap rockets and duds that needed expensive Patriot Missiles to counter. When those Patriots were exhausted in numbers, then the real destructive missiles and drones will do the job.

Lessons are learnt, not forgotten and Hezbollah knows now how to counter the 'Iron Dome' defense system. As in all things created by humans, sooner or later someone will find a way to counter it. Just look at Russia and how it is countering all the sanctions and deflecting the damage towards the perpetrators. Are the sanctions working and if not, that must be the biggest shame on the USA and the West. Russia alone is able to counter the might of the USA and NATO, rich countries inside the G7 and top of the crop in economic power. How NATO is suffering today and how Russia is becoming great again is a slap on the face of the USA and the West.

I still cannot fathom the mantra that the USA is almost in recession. It is already in recession and the only reason is that they are denying it. What is the reason for cutting interest rates when the economy is said to be doing so well? As Professor Richard Wolff said, Janet Yellen knows but is pretending not to know. She and her fellow juggler, Powell have reached the end of their tethers and can no longer kick the can further down the road.

Mexico succumbing to American pressure?

There are many ways the USA entrapped countries to enable the USA to pressure them into compliance with their dictates.

Mexico is one of those countries that is succumbing to pressure from the USA, using the 'Free Trade Agreement' between them as a threat to force Mexico to deny Chinese companies from investing in Mexico. It already happened with Mexico being held to ransom over incentives extended to Chinese automakers, like providing land, and the setting up of a US/Mexico agreement to monitor foreign investments, which insidiously is to counter China. Is Mexico a sovereign country or a colony of the USA that has to pander to the USA as to what is good for the country?

Having Argentina squarely ensnared in its trap using the IMF, the USA is trying to lure other South American countries into its control, with countering Chinese influence the prime objective. Venezuela is the key target that the USA is trying very hard to take over, particularly its massive oil reserves.
