Masters Athletics have an eventful packed year in 2019
2019 would be a very eventful and power packed year for masters
athletics in Singapore. There will be road runs, relays, cross country
races and athletic competitions locally and overseas to keep them very
busy running for the whole year.
The first event to kick off would be the Singapore Masters Athletics X
Country Run/Walk/Relay at MacRitchie Reservoir on Sunday 3 Mar 19. This
would be closely followed by 3 events in a weekend.
3 May 19 – Singapore Masters Athletics 40th Anniversary Track & Field at Toa Payoh Stadium
4 May 19 – The first South East Asia Masters Track & Field Meet also at Toa Payoh Stadium
5 May 19 – the Singapore Masters Athletics International All Comers Meet also at Toa Payoh
And on 6/7 July the SMTFA is also organizing its first Track and Field
International Championship in Singapore. Active Singapore would also be
holding its annual track and field event at end of July and beginning
of August.
This is not all. There is a major event in Kuching, Sarawak, the Asia
Masters Athletics Track & Field Meet in December to end the year.
There are also several road races/relays and cross country being held
through the year.
The toughest period for masters athletics would be the May weekend. From
the point of a sprinter, if a masters athlete is to participate in all 3
Meets during that one weekend, he would have to run at least 8 races,
including heats and relays. This is very punishing. Normally 3 races
would be about the max for a senior masters athlete.
In the World Masters, the timing of a masters sprinter in one event eg
100m, with heats, semis and finals, would fall rapidly over the 3 days.
It is thus near impossible for any masters athlete to run 8 sprint races
over 3 consecutive days. I am attempting to run on two of the Meets but
have no confidence to run well the next day. That is how bad it is on
the legs.
With the ministers and the politicians everyday talking about living
well and living healthy, keeping fit, ageing gracefully, would they be
supporting such masters athletic activities and making them part of the
national campaign of promoting healthy ageing? Or would they ignore
these programmes because they are not organized by the govt?
It would be great for all the senior community associations and clubs to
bring their seniors to watch and celebrate how other seniors compete in
these races and show them what are still possible despite the age. The
races would be a great motivation and encouragement for the doubtful,
that they need not live a sedentary life just because of old age. This
could be a national event and festival for the seniors if the govt/PA or
Activesg could put their acts together.
Grace Fu could make this as big or even a bigger event than the fighting
diabetes thing that is going on. Or perhaps Gan Kim Yong and Amy Khor
could join forces to pitch this as part of their well meaning health
campaign for the seniors.

The Real History Behind The Hypocritical And Deceptive Thanksgiving PART ONE
Recently I watched a video presentation by Daunnette a Native American Indian and her friends who said, "What the US is telling about Thanksgiving is not true." The true story is the European invaders and settlers after killing of whole villages of natives would celebrate and called it Thanksgiving. After every killing and massacre of American Indians, the white killers and genociders would celebrate with big feasts and prayers which they called it Thanksgiving. It is a travesty of justice and fake piousness with the greatest hypocrisy in invoking the name of God for their evil deeds. So Thanksgiving is basically and truly a celebration of their wholesale wanton killings of countless numbers of innocent native lives and wholesale genocide of many native tribes.
Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, 26th November, 1863 as official National Day. He ordered 38 Dakota native American heroic resistant fighters to be hung for war crimes which they fabricated. Native American Indians all lost their lives to savage white invaders.
Daunnette and her friends are thankful for being born indigenous to America. They are thankful for still having their culture preserve alive by the native elders who kept their culture alive, and strong and stand as one united in the face of European aggression .
The first European immigrants who set sailed from England in September 1620 arrived aboard the ship Mayflower to the shores of present day Massachusetts. These British pioneers were only being able to survive the harsh first winter on the alien continent due to the self-less assistance of the native American Indians especially those from the Squanto tribe. When the pilgrims arrived at Plymouth, present day New York their first act was to pray. With the help of the Squanto and the Wampanoag tribe they survived and began to build a new home for their families. On their first Thanksgiving they came together to rejoice after their first harvest and praise God for His provision.
The pilgrims first met the Wampanoag Nation which comprised of sixty-nine tribes. The Wampanoag was part of the one of hundreds of Tribal Nations with diverse societies that had thrived for thousands of years before the arrival of the pilgrims. So it is a fallacy for the Europeans to claim they had discovered America when the continent had been inhabited by the natives for many millenia.
In the compendium of American reinventions that attempt to diminish its legacy of brutality in the subjugation of the continent's First People, Thanksgiving ranks high. The pilgrims had good reasons to give thanks particularly to the Wampanoag who through a treaty obligation offered protection to the British puritans.
It was doubtful whether the puritans offered thanks to the Tisquantum-Squanto tribe who helped them plant what they reaped at that 1621 harvest is unknown. But what is preserved in Wampanoag history is that Massasoit Sachem the leader of the Wampanoag arrived at Plymouth colony not to share in the pilgrim's feast but to see why they were firing canon and musket with abandon. After three days, Massasoit was satisfied that the intent was benign.
However five decades later there was no mistaking of the immigrants evil intent. The head of Massasoit's son , Metacomet also known as King Philip was displayed by the puritans at the entrance to the Plymouth in August 1676.
Metacomet's crime was to resist colonial domination and expansion. The British colonists offered "Thanksgiving" for their victory in Metacomet- "King Philip's War." and for twenty or more festivals annually what remained of the Sachem or leader's head bore silent witness to white men's crime and brutality in returning the goodness of the natives with evil satanic intent of wiping out the native American Indians. The first European immigrants and invaders had made clear they intent to take over the American continent and with it all its wealth and rich resources.
So the barbaric savage European invaders who started their invasion and plunder from the Eastern seaboard of the Atlantic coast would soon be extended to their eventual invasion and conquest of all the lands westward to the Golden Coast of the Pacific Ocean. There are too many sightless and silent witnesses in the wake of countless massacres of native tribes but each and every massacre is a cause for some tribal people to designate "Thanksgiving , a National Day of Mourning."

SOS -Save Our Seniors, Spare Our Seniors
Save the world, save the dogs and cats…but don’t bother about the seniors. Every kind hearted souls are calling for saving mother earth, saving animals from extinction, saving the dogs and cats and the wild boars. I am waiting for some kind souls to talk about saving and protecting our seniors. No one knows that the seniors must be saved? No one knows that the seniors are struggling to survive with little or no money, or a little savings in their CPF?
Are the seniors more important or the animals more important to deserve some attention from those that really care or pretending to care?
In this most expensive city of the world, when cost of living keeps going up, prices and fees/fares going up, how can the seniors survive when they are either jobless, retired or with little savings? To make matter worse, many are plagued by various forms of age related illnesses that they are unable to pay for medical care. And some have to depend on expensive supplements with prices going up and up to live.
For goodness sake, whenever there is any increase in fares/fees/charges, medicine and supplements, food, do not simply lump the seniors together, to share some of the increases no matter how small are the increases. The seniors simply have no income and trying to make ends meet with whatever that is left in their savings.
And please, have some mercy, and stop taking from the little money left in the seniors’ CPF accounts. No matter what reasons, how good, how caring, how meaningful, how insuring and assuring, don’t touch the seniors’ savings. They cannot afford them. Every cent, every dollar is needed to survive, to pass the day, one day at a time. It is evil and wicked to have designs on the little savings of the seniors. It is not compassionate to keep raising fares/fees and make the seniors pay for them. The seniors do not need anymore insurance schemes that robbed their CPF savings. They are waiting to die and everyday is a bonus.
Freeze further fare/fee increases and spare the seniors from them. Can understand this or not? Many seniors have no money left and they have 20 or 30 years still to live. 5G – The American strangulation of China and Huawei
With all the shit that the western media have been spreading, with the
chief author in the USA, China is still a backward country and stealing
technology and intellectual properties from the Americans and the West.
For the last 3 to 4 decades, China was learning furiously from the West
and the Americans agreed to that arrangement when Nixon signed a
rapproachment agreement with China to share and exchange knowledge,
information and technology with students from China studying in American
universities. What theft that the gangsters in Washington are trying to
spread? This is completely legal, a mutual treaty and agreement.
Huawei’s 5G technology is now the leader in mobile phone industry. The Americans are losing behind and unable to catch up, unable to compete. In order to prevent Huawei from selling its 5G products, the Americans as usual raised the dubious national security threat to stop Huawei from joint venture with AT&T and also stopped Huawei from entering the American market.
This is not all. The Americans are telling all its allies to stop Huawei from entering their markets. These include Australia, New Zealand and Nato countries. However, countries that welcomed 5G have gone ahead to accept Huawei’s technology and mobile phone systems. More than 22 countries have gone ahead to allow Huawei to enter their markets.
If 5G is a real security risk to countries, would the Americans stop developing their 5G mobile phones? How would they sell their 5G system if they finally developed and caught up with Huawei? Would other countries also stop using American 5G on the same security grounds? If so, 5G technology would no longer be marketable, like nuclear weapons. The British and Germans did not have problems with Huawei’s 5G.
What are the Americans going to do about it? Try to buy time to steal Chinese/Huawei technology to keep up with China? Huawei is now the leading company in 5G technology. Bye bye America. The rest of the world is going to use Huawei’s 5G with a speed 20 times than the fastest mobile phone today. This 5G technology would transform all communication equipment, from space and satellite communication to AI, driverless cars, military technology and all industries etc etc. Without 5G, they are going to be lacking far far behind in the development of the respective industries.
Americans’ dirty trick, cannot win, block. Create fake news and fear. But this is not going to work anymore. The Chinese are not going to be oppressed to become laundrymen and cooks anymore. The Chinese will show the Americans who is more advance in the pursuit of science and technology. The Americans should try to build a high speed train to start with, without stealing Chinese technology.
