Hsien Loong has announced that GIC had cut its long term investment in UBS by 2.4% and taking a hit of $6-$7 billion according to some estimate. Some put this sum to be $8b! GIC is still holding on to 2.7% of its shares in UBS which means a paper loss of more than $7 billion giving a total staggering loss of about $14b!
When such numbers are rolled out, many could not imagine or feel the impact of such losses. They are just numbers. In fact many big fund managers playing with OPM are too immune and desensitized to losing such big money. It is other people’s money after all, no sweat, no responsibility, own pocket not hurt.
How much is $14 billion? The cost of paying our political office holders is reported to be about $53m a year. Let’s put these numbers into persperctive. $ 14b is $14,000,000,000, 10 zeros behind the 14. $53m is $53,000,000, with 6 zeros behind the 53. The sum of $14b literally can pay the political office holders for 300 years or till 2317!
This is how much we have lost, just on one bank alone. This is not a plate of char kway teow or even several peanuts. This is big money being lost. How much did WP’s town council lost? Or did they actually lose any money at all? Or how much the other town councils lost during the lemon bond crisis?
Take a deep breath and get a feel of the scale of this loss. We spent $32.b for 4 submarines, or one sub costs less than $1b. We could have 14 subs for free by not investing in UBS.
A normal kopitiam at night in Singapore. Typical night life of the average Singaporeans in a govt built housing estate.

B&R – Was Hsien Loong invited to attend?
This matter seems to trouble many Singaporeans as such an important international event when many leaders were attending and Hsien Loong was not when Singapore is hoping to hitch a ride on this massive project to pick up a few contracts along the way. And Cynical Investor has said it is confirmed that Hsien Loong was not invited, a slap that would not go unnoticed.
Here is what Cynical Investor posted in his blog.
One Belt One Rd: PM “not invited”
In China on 17/05/2017 at 4:24 am
I was wrong. PM wasn’t invited to the summit meeting on the above, it seems, going by what Lawrence Wong is quoted as saying. He wasn’t aping Western leaders by declining the invitation and sending ka kiah instead.
When asked why Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong did not attend the Belt and Road Forum, which was attended by 29 heads of state and government, including many from South-east Asia, Mr Wong said the invitation was decided by the Chinese.
ST
So reasonable to assume that the Chinese did not invite Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
This non invite may appear to be a diplomatic snub but taken seriously it could fore tell far more serious implications to Singapore. It is not just a continuation of the Terrex fiasco bundled together with the trumpeting of the TPP and the demand that China abide by the kangaroo court judgement on the South China Sea. There are more to it. Well some jokers still openly denied that Singapore did all these things, that Singapore was innocent, an honest broker. Stupidity has no cure but to make such denials in public only proved how stupid these people can be.
Singapore has officially been saying that it supports the B&R project and wanted to participate actively in its development. Why was Hsien Loong left out, ok this is just a view by Cynical Investor, if Singapore is an important player to the maritime Silk Road?
The message is clear, if Singapore is an important part of the maritime Silk Road, there is more reason to invite Hsien Loong to the forum. And if invited, there is no reason for Hsien Loong not to attend, an event that is definitely more important than having dinner at the White House. The probability that Cynical Investor is right is very high and the negative implications that Singapore is no longer in the good books of China could be a forgone conclusion or at least not a major part in the maritime Silk Road plan. By the way the South China Morning Post even said that China left out Hsien Loong deliberately, so no more guessing.
Malaysia appears to be the main actor in China’s B&R project and quietly accepting its role without any gloating. The amount of investments pouring into Malaysia in infrastructure development says it all.
The non invite is not so important than not being part of the big scheme of things. This does not bode well for Singapore’s ambition to be the regional transportation hub in the future. What would happen if Malaysia were to replace Singapore as the regional hub? What would happen to Tuas’ big expansion plan as the biggest container port in the region when no container ship is arriving?
What do you think?
PS. On second thought, there is really nothing to worry about. Even if Singapore is being left out, with our super talents in charge, Singapore would definitely find a better way out, maybe create its own Singapore Silk Road. China forgot that Singapore was the master and China the student.
And there is the great USA to rely on. Then there is always the next big thing in Asia, India, the next growth story. Singapore has the first mover advantage and would definitely do very well clinging onto the Indian growth engine. Quick, quick upgrade the CECA so that all the Singaporean firms and Singaporeans can fly to India to work and to do business. But make sure they recognize our degrees and diplomas first.
Here is what Cynical Investor posted in his blog.

USA unleashing the devil
For its own strategic interest to remain as the top dog in the world of hegemony and empire, the Americans have unwittingly and willingly unleashed the biggest devil of the past and allowing the devil to rearm to the teeth to do damage once more to civilisation and to the Americans one day. China is seen as the number one enemy of the Americans not that China is going to start a war with the Americans, but by virtue of its size, its population, the energy release from an industrious and educated population, organised as a nation, to be able to surpass the Americans in all fields. The rate the Chinese people are climbing the industrial, scientific and technological ladder, at a blinding speed that it is only a matter of days before China would be number one in everything. This is an undeniable and unstoppable fact, without having to go to war. It is just a natural historical development of human civilisation. And this is seen by the Americans as a threat to their world dominance and must be stopped at all costs.
The fear of being number two to China is driving the Americans bonkers. They are doing everything they could, dropping their defensive instinct to protect themselves, by allowing the Japanese to rearm to it former military strength to create another diversion, another area of concern for China. How far would the Americans go to cut the leash on Japan to become another mighty military machine? Have the Americans forgotten what Japan did to the rest of Asia and SE Asia? Have the Americans forgotten Pearl Harbour? Maybe, maybe the Americans think this is history. The Japanese of today, in their businessmen suits, are very nice and respectable gentlemen, very polite people, unlike their barbaric parents. The DNAs have changed.
Have the Americans forgotten about the two atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the carpet bombing of Tokyo and other Japanese cities? Perhaps, when the Americans are not the victims, they could and would forget. Would the Americans forget 911? Never, because the Americans were attacked and were the victims. This same pattern of thoughts would apply to the Japanese. Would the Japanese forget Pearl Harbour? Never, because that was the biggest military victory of the Japanese against the Americans. Nevermind if it was a sneak attack without warning, without declaration of war. The Americans got themselves to be blamed for sleeping on the job.
Would the Japanese forget the bombing of Japan and the two atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Never. They are holding annual rituals to remember the days when Japan were obliterated by the Americans. They are also remembering their murderous soldiers in the Yasukuni Shrine. They are very proud of these soldiers for their conquest of Asia and their sneak attacks against the Americans. But they would forget their atrocities across Asia and South East Asia.
What would these memories mean to the Americans and the Japanese? One day, the debt must be settled. The Americans must pay for the bombing of Tokyo, for dropping two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, for keeping Japan as a semi colony of the American Empire until today. Yes, the Japanese are still bowing politely to the American warlords. But did the Americans see the glint and hatred in their eyes when their heads are bent, starring at their feet?
The Americans and the Japanese have a long history of aggression, rivalry and hate. Pearl Harbour could have its origin when Commodore Perry opened up Japan by force. It could also originate from the American's effort to deny access to natural resources from Japan.
The history and relationship between China and the USA were less acrimonious. There was no invasion and war between the two countries. The only war they fought was on opposite sides in the Korean War. And during the WW2, China was on the side of the Americans, and many Americans fought with the Chinese against the Imperialist Japan. The souring of relationship was political, the Cold War and anti Communism. Such wounds are easily healed as they did not drive too deeply into the psyche of the two people. China would not be harbouring vengeful thoughts of retaliating against an American nuclear bombing of Chinese cities. There were none to talk about. Though there were many occasions when the Americans were flirting with the idea of a preemptive nuclear strike against Chinese nuclear bases in Lop Nor, these did not happen.
China and the USA were political enemies but no unforgiveable and unbearable acts of aggression between the two countries. Now the Americans are choosing to unleash the devil in Japan in their military strategy for world dominance against China. Is this a wise thing to do? Would the Japanese turn against the Americans one day when the Americans were fighting China and deal another more horrendous attack than Pearl Harbour? The Japanese have all the reasons to do so, for their national pride and their militaristic ambition to be another super power.
What Harry Harris had done, by jumping at the slightest opportunity to want to start a war with China in the South China Sea and in the Korean Peninsula are signs of what he and the Japanese have in the back of their minds. The only way for Japan to be the top super power once again is for the destruction of the USA, China and Russia. If Japan could get these three countries to destroy each other, Japan would be number one again by default.
While the Americans are obsessed with the rise of China, let they not forget the bigger devil lurking behind, in bed with them. Harry Harris is a dangerous man. But the more dangerous one is Abe. Would the Americans really want to unleash this devil that has an axe to grind against the Americans? Who is the real enemy against the Americans, China or Japan? By virtue of the relative size, America will be number two to China in a matter to time, no need for war. It is a natural process of human civilisation. For Japan to be number one, it has to see to the destruction of China, Russia and the USA. How could Japan achieve this goal? Are the Americans aiding the Japanese to this end game?

Petition to the Govt on the Elected President Election
Here is the link to the petition. https://www.change.org/p/in-support-of-an-open-singapore-presidential-election-2017
Lim Tean, Secretary General of NSP, Tan Kin Lian, Goh Meng Seng and Syafarin Sarif have started this petition to the Govt stating that the next EP election should be in 2023 and not in 2017. The issue is how the 5 terms were counted, the govt starts counting from Wee Kim Wee but the petition and Tan Cheng Bock’s constitutional challenge disagrees with this, that it should start counting from Ong Teng Cheong as the first Elected President.
500 people have signed the petition and still counting meaning they don’t agree with the govt’s methodology or tracing it further back, they don’t agree with the AG office’s recommendation.

A convincing initiative for regional connectivity and global trade
By Chua Chin Leng | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2017-05-15 14:50
China's One Belt One Road Initiative was conceived in 2013 in its entirety by the strategists and planners in China under the leadership of President Xi Jinping. This extensive infrastructure network of land, rail and sea covers more than 100 countries and an unending budget that cumulatively could be in the region of US$40 trillion to US$80 trillion when in maturation.
In a short span of three years from conception to what it is today, this initiative, now popularly known as B&R, is a new reality that has taken off and gone beyond the imagination of many modern day planners. Sixty-five countries from China through Central Asia to Europe by land and a sea route covering South East and South Asia through the Middle East, linking Africa to Europe to form the southern belt, present a problem that would challenge the wits and wisdom of the ablest politicians and statesmen just to be able to sew the countries into a complete tapestry.
The countries involved in B&R are as diverse in culture, race, religion, political ideology, political rivalry and historical enmity that the thought of convincing them to agree, to be part of the project, must be a nightmare to the ablest in diplomacy. And China has pulled it through, to successfully bring aboard these mixed bags of countries, is not just shrewd diplomacy but also by hard economics of what each country would stand to benefit from it. To be able to win the confidence of the leaders of these countries, that everyone stands to benefit from a win-win partnership, is itself a great achievement for China and Xi Jinping's team of negotiators. The task is more daunting if one is preview to the doomsayers and negative commentaries and mischievous doubts posed by those countries that did not want this project to succeed, let alone to take off in such a short time.
Every single country that voluntarily participates in this international initiative must have convinced themselves and been able to see for themselves the goodness of the project from their own perspective and understanding and interests, not from what the Chinese told them. With all the differences and negative external influence and forces working against this project, some appearing unbridgeable due to historical enmity and political divisiveness, no one, not even Xi Jinping and his team, is able to win them over unless they themselves are willing to come on board.
The B&R is therefore an initiative that all participating members are convinced, must be convinced, that it is beneficial to them in the long run, in trade, communication, economic and political development. The benefits of B&R speak for themselves and are the most important factors in winning the hearts and minds of the participating nations.
For the coastal states or states that have easy access to seaports, the One Belt aspect of the B&R initiative would only enhance and improve their positions in a more interconnected world. B&R is particularly important to the landlocked countries in Central Asia and Eastern Europe, central Russia and the western regions of China. These countries and regions have been disadvantaged by their inability to access the sea trade routes and have lagged behind for centuries in economic development. B&R has transformed the traditional reliance on the sea for transportation and opened up these countries to trade freely using land routes, by rail and by roads, freeing themselves from having to depend on seaports. These countries would now be in the mainstream of international trade, in the main highways of trade, communication and transportation, turning themselves into new centers of economic growth and development. Many of the cities in these landlocked countries would become new rich economic centers, finding their rightful place as the equals of New York, London, Rotterdam, Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai in the 21st Century.
There will be realignment of trade routes and transportation hubs as a result of B&R, and many cities would reinvent themselves and transform into new vibrant commercial centers of trade and economic activities. Khazakstan, Malaysia and Greece would become new communication hubs of a new future and the biggest beneficiaries of B&R.
The B&R initiative is a new catalyst, a bright spark that would bring about more global trade and economic development in an otherwise staid and slumbering world economy. Thousands of bilateral and multilateral projects have taken off and many more are in the pipeline. Hundreds of bilateral and multilateral agreements between governments have been signed. B&R is not a China initiative but an international cross-border project that needs the cooperation and active participation of all the countries to be successful.
B&R is what the world needs today. The flow of capital, goods, people and so forth would be a boost to economic activities and vibrancy, to open up new regions of growth, to bring about prosperity and interconnectivity to all the countries in the project and to benefit the world in general. The success of the B&R is not just for China but for all the participating countries and the whole world.

Preparing Singaporeans for the future
We have heard many talks about preparing Singaporeans for the future. What kind of future can the Singaporeans be looking forward to in SG100? There are many signs appearing supported by facts and figures that are saying Singaporeans future may be something they better not look forward to.
One stark reality today is the influx of foreigners to take up good jobs and top jobs in Singapore, not only in MNCs but in GLCs and increasingly in stats boards, and also in ministries. What is this fearful trend telling?
Even today, while Singaporeans are still in charge, foreigners are increasing being recruited to top jobs, as CEOs in preference to Singaporeans. And what comes next? They start to fill up the company and organizations with their countrymen and country women. The prevalence of this practice is widespread and can be seen everywhere.
As time goes by, more and more Singaporeans would be out of jobs while more and more important jobs would be taken over by the foreigners and their countrymen and country women. Soon they will proclaim that Singaporeans did not have the skill sets and experience for these jobs, for senior appointments to be CEOs, to head departments and divisions. Oh they are already saying this and doing it already.
Without being employed, Singaporeans would only become less skill and less experience and therefore less relevant to the jobs. The whole process is as good as desensitizing Singaporeans from the job market, turning them into misfits, mismatch, and lack of relevant skills. Many daft Singaporeans could not see this dreadful trend and happily going about reinventing themselves to be hawkers, taxi drivers and even deliverymen despite their education and experience in the corporate world. They will keep descending into the lowest level of employment, of survival in this very expensive world.
How woudl all these developments affect the future of Singaporeans and the young of today? They will no longer be holding the top jobs for sure, or very few will. Not only that, they would also not be holding middle management jobs and not even low level jobs. Their fate would be the same as the non bumis in Malaysia. They have to go into small businesses, peddling pots and pans, to be self employed as they are no longer employable or no foreigner CEOs would want to hire them in Singapore. Yes, they should all be taxi drivers, security guards and hawkers and dressed impeccably as deliverymen. And of course there is still one big job reserved and protected for them, National Service, to guard and protect this island for the foreigners to rule them after taking over their jobs.
I am afraid this reality is increasingly become more real than fiction and will turn into a nightmare for future Singaporeans. Singaporeans, be prepared for a future when they become the outcast, the dalits of their own country, once called Singapore, once your home. Beware and be prepared for this fate if things did not change and the course of social and economic development continues in this direction. A stop must be put to this destructive trend to save Singaporeans and Singapore from the indiscriminate and irresponsible presence of foreigners to dominate over Singaporeans and to destroy the future of Singaporeans.
We cannot hand our country to the foreigners by default, without a fight. Stop going for more silly training to lower skill jobs. You should be upgrading when you go for training, not downgrading. Why pay and spend precious time to traing to downgrade? What nonsense!
The Singaporeans of the past were all the time trying to upgrade and improve themselves. Why are the Singaporeans of today told to downgrade and be happy with the situation?

Dr Paul Craig's article and his frustration with trolls
Below are some paragraphs from Dr Craig's article posted in the 4th Dimension that exposed the realities and dirty works of trolls and despicable people in the social media. He is absolutely disgusted with such shameless people.
The North Korean “crisis” is a Washington orchestration. North Korea was last at war 1950-53. N. Korea has not attacked or invaded anyone in 64 years. …. …. So what is the demonization of N. Korea by the presstitutes and Trump administration about?
It is about the same thing that the demonization of Iran was about. The “Iranian threat” was an orchestration that was used as cover to put US anti-ballistic missile bases on Russia’s borders. An anti-ballistic missile (ABM) is intended to intercept and destroy nuclear-armed ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles) and prevent them from reaching their targets.
Washington claimed that the anti-ABM bases were not directed at Russia, but were for the protection of Europe against Iran’s nuclear ICBMs. Insouciant Americans might have believed this, but the Russians surely did not as Iran has neither ICBMs nor nuclear weapons.
The Russian government has made it clear that Russia understands the US bases are directed at preventing a Russian retaliation against a Washington first strike.
The Chinese government also is not stupid. The Chinese leadership understands that the reason for the N. Korean “crisis” is to provide cover for Washington to put anti-ballistic missile sites near China’s border.
In other words, Washington is creating a shield against nuclear retaliation from both Russia and China from a US nuclear strike against both countries....
I then looked at the comment sections on other sites that repost my columns, and there were the trolls hired by the CIA, Mossad, National Endowment for Democracy, George Soros, NATO, US State Department, and others denouncing me for promoting nuclear war. Of course, it is Washington that is promoting nuclear war, and it is Washington that has convinced Russia and China that a preemptive nuclear strike is in their future....
I seldom see an intelligent comment on websites that have comment sections. Most comments come from people too ashamed to speak in their real names and who are unwilling to provide their real email addresses. Almost all comments come from narcistic ignorant fools hiding behind fake names and fake email addresses and from paid trolls.
I don’t write in order to be slandered by paid trolls and ignorant narcissistic fools. I regard it as highly irresponsible for websites to undercut their writers with anonymous accusations and slander from no one knows who....
Dr. Paul Craig Roberts was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy and associate editor of the Wall Street Journal.

Willy Trump. South China Sea, Traitors and Warmongers.
PART 1. American fake news claim leaders across Asia are looking to Washington for guidance on a variety of of pressing issues in Asia. If this is true these leaders have yet to realise that looking to US for guidance is as good as looking for endless trouble, choas, instabilities and wars. These leaders can possibly be traitors and obsequious American running dogs.
The fake news also claim these Asian leaders are worried that President Moon Jae-in is seeking a more conciliatrory approach with North Korea contrary to US bellicose policy. They also worry Trump may stop trying to counter China's growing influence in South China Sea. They long for America to create wars and destabilities in South East Asia as it has done in the Middle East.
The news agency keep on saying 'Asian leaders'. It should be more open and name the Asian leaders and not hide behind the screen of anonimity. However, one character, not an Asian leader but an Australian professor by the name of Carlyle A Thayer of the University of New South Wales openly lamented that the withdrawal of America from the region will turn " the South China Sea into a Chinese lake." He conveniently forgets that he and his European ancestors have stolen the Australian continent from the natives of Australia and as recently in 1980s Australia stole the East Timor Sea from the East Timorese nation in the most bizarre and treacherous manner because it coveted the rich oil deposit beneath that sea.
The Asian leaders which the fake news alluded are actually imposters . They are white supremacists anti China leaders as seen in Carlyle A Thayer. They can also be pro American 5th columns in many of Singapore's institutes of higher learnings and international studies.Or possibly it can be some shameless obsequious pro-American and pro-Japanese political leaders in two or three ASEAN countries.
They claim Trump will lose credibility if he does not continue to challenge China in the South China Sea and America may lose long time economic and security cum military alliance in the region. They insist Trump must challenge China vigorously to prevent countries in the region from moving close to China. They want Trump to assure them that American long standing bellicose foreign policy towards China remains rigid and unnegotiable. They want Trump to take a more aggressive stand towards China and to fan the fire beyond North Korea. Here it can be seen at work are the hands of the American warmongers . They are the Anglo-Saxon Zionist Rothschild Illuminati Cabal which runs and controls the government of whichever party come to power in US be it Democrats or Republicans. The Cabal also exercise full control over Wall Street, American banksters, CIA and the huge
Pentagon's war industrial complex. Under the Illuminati Cabal US fought more than two hundred and thirty wars of aggression against other countries and made trillions of dollars out of these wars. It is time Russia and China join forces and bring the next war to American mainland.
PART 2
The Neo-Conservatives in the Illuminati Cabal said Trump should not make any concessions to China as far as the East China Sea and South China Sea is concerned. They object to Mr Moon's conciliatory approach towards DPRK and want Trump to apply maximum pressure on North Korea. They persuade Trump to expedite sales of offensive weapons to Taiwan. They strongly object to China's development in her own territories in the South China Sea and want Rex Tillerson to deny China's access to the region. These are dangerous warmongers who want US to adopt a straight face Anti-China policy with no room for negotiation or compromise. They want war and confrontation with China. They think US can win in a nuclear war against China. They must be dreaming and still living in the last century . They must know China is not alone for Russia is part of the Chinese-Russian equation in an open conflict or war against America. Nevertheless, the Russians and Chinese have pledged that the next world war will not be fought anywhere else but in
America's mainland.
Trump is a willy businessman now turned into a willy politician. He tries to make use of Russia against China and vice-versa. That doesn't seem to work for the moment. Now he tries to make use of China against North Korea. When things are more settled in North East Asia he will continue to confront China in the South China Sea albeit at the behest of the controlling masters in the Illuminati Cabal.
However the scenario in the South China Sea has of now turn more settled and peaceful due to the matured wisdom of Duterte of the Philippines and Najib of Malaysia and to a lesser extent Vietnam. However China and the neighbouring countries must still be on guard for the Japanese and American warmongers will never give up wars and distabilities whenever an occasion arises. Also South East Asia is awashed with traitors and pro-American running dogs and 5th columns especially those found in the institutes of higher learnings and international studies in Singapore and some other ASEAN countries.

When globalisation makes a sham of national policies
The left ball did not know what the right ball is thinking. This is what happens when national policies were cooked without being mindful of the harm of globalization could do to undermine national policies. A very good case is the influx of foreign fake graduates to replace Singaporean graduates in the economy when there is a cap of 30% put on each cohort for admission to local universities.
The statestimesreview has an article that succinctly exposed the stupidity when the two policies are in conflict and as usual, the daft Singaporeans would bear the brunt of the stupidity. Here is an excerpt from the statestimesreview.
‘Minister Ong Ye Kung: Only 30% of Singaporeans allowed to be degree holders, the rest go Poly ITE
http://statestimesreview.com/2017/05/04/minister-ong-ye-kung-only-30-of-singaporeans-allowed-to-be-degree-holders-the-rest-go-poly-ite/
Education Minister Ong Ye Kung made the revelation today (May 4th) at a forum discussion in Switzerland, and also said the policy is to prevent degree holders flooding the market like “some Asian countries”:
“In Singapore, this means capping the proportion of graduates in a cohort at about 30 to 40 per cent, while training the rest for vocations in various industries. This approach has ensured there was no glut of graduates in Singapore, and kept graduate unemployment low, unlike in some Asian countries.”
In the meantime, foreigners qualifying for Employment Pass (EP) will need to hold a minimum Bachelor Degree – even when the degree is from a village university in Philippines, China or India. EP visa holders are also guaranteed a Minimum Wage of S$3,600, while there is no Minimum Wage for Singaporeans…’
.
The article provided more details of the adverse consequences on Singaporeans that ended up as fools and victims of the two policies. How could this thing happen for so long and no one could see how wrong it has become and no one thinks it is important enough to put it right? We restrict our own talents from entering universities but brought in all the craps and fakes to replace them. We pay the craps and fakes better salaries while our 'bypassed' talents ended up at the lower end of the food chain.
This is definitely a crime against our very own citizens. The whole thing is so silly, beyond comprehension, totally irresponsible.

China playing catch up with Singapore
China has been playing catching up with Singapore but is losing. When Singapore started industrialisation in the 60s, China was still a backward agricultural economy. It then sent many delegations of civil servants here to learn the trick of the trade using Singapore as a role model. Over the last 40 years China made progress, opened up to the world and industrialised. The millions of bicycles on the road instead of cars also gave way, just like Singapore in the last 40 years, and cars started to appear on the road to replace the bicycles.
Singapore has done that and moved on. The roads that are filled with cars in Singapore is starting to give way as Singapore progresses. This time Singapore is moving ahead again. Singaporeans are encouraged to ride bicycles instead of buying cars. Soon the roads of Singapore will be filled with bicycles again, just like China before opening up to the world. China would have a tough act to follow Singapore this time, to abandon the use of cars and to go back to riding bicycles. It is unlikely that China could catch up with Singapore in making its people to ride bicycles again, and very likely also a choice to abandon backward third world mode of transportation when people cannot afford to buy cars.
China is also losing out in housing after copying our housing models. Singaporeans have gone through the phase of buying bigger and bigger homes and asset enhancement. China is starting to do just that, with its nouve riche population rushing in to buy bigger and bigger homes. China did not know that the new trend of development, of progress, is to buy smaller homes, even to make babies, the smaller the cosier. Singaporeans are getting so rich that they know cars are wasteful, and so are bigger homes. So Singaporeans have embarked on a new trend, to buy smaller homes as a new lifestyle choice. When would China tell its people that small homes/flats are good and would not affect their quality of life?
Singaporeans are on the next phase of progress, not only buying smaller homes but trading them for retirement, come empty handed, go empty handed. China would take time to catch up with Singapore, for its people to start to buy smaller homes, and to tell its people to come empty handed and go empty handed, trading their homes for retirement, no more life long state pensions.
There are several areas that China has yet to embark on to be like Singapore, like paying their politicians millions to make them instant millionaires. This is something that China is still very backward and would never catch up with Singapore. Would China also learn from Singapore to bring in foreign talents to help create jobs for its locals? Would China dilute its core population with foreigners? Would China start to sell its strategic assets to foreigners as the next phase of their development?
Singapore is streaking ahead in many fields and enterprises. Would China also learn from Singapore to get its universities ranked among the best in the world? Never mind if our best graduates cannot built spacecraft, cannot build aircraft carriers, cannot build high speed trains after graduating from our world best universities. The progress is in getting the universities ranked as world best and get a degree from world best universities is the goal.
By the look of things, China will never catch up with Singapore and its people will be stuck with bigger homes and cars and not wanting to ride bicycles again. And its political leaders would never smell what it is like to be paid millions of dollars in salary and what it would be like to be millionaire politicians, and what dignity is all about boosted by a big pay cheque.
Singaporeans are now happily switching their cars to bicycles as a healthy way of life while the Chinese are pursuing their unhealthy and wasteful dreams of car ownership.

Cheng Bock is likely to lose
Cheng Bock has posted the high court's acceptance of his application to challenge the govt's formula to count Wee Kim Wee as the first Elected President. This is part of his message:
COURT APPLICATION ACCEPTED
I would like to announce that this morning, the High Court accepted my application (HC/OS 495/2017), which seeks the Court’s determination on whether a piece of legislation (section 22 Presidential Elections (Amendment) Act 6 of 2017 which counted President Wee Kim Wee as the first Elected Presidency term for the purposes of calling a Reserved Election), is consistent with our Constitution (Articles 19B(1) and 164(1) which introduced the mechanism of a Reserved Election into our Constitution).
I am the Plaintiff and for the purposes of serving Court papers on the Government, the Defendant is the Attorney General.
The application was filed on 5 May 2017. The Court accepted my application this morning, and has fixed a pre-trial conference on 22 May 2017....
Though the acceptance gives some hope that the issue would be addressed legally by the top legal minds and also comes under the scrutiny of the whole world, I have very little confidence that Cheng Bock would win this case. Somehow the case of the ruling that election candidate cannot be within 200m radius of a voting station but being inside is not considered within 200m keeps popping up in my mind. Such ingenious interpretation of law is very exceptional and only very exceptional legal talents could explain this logically and legally correct in the courts of law.
Until today, the common folks are still shaking their heads as they simply are too daft to understand the brilliant logic of such an explanation. The smart ones have already given up trying to understand.
It is no coincidence that this would be another CB Elected Presidential election, CB is Cheng Bock's initial of course. CB can also mean cha bor. So whatever way it is gonna be a CB election. I am putting my ears on the ground and eagerly waiting for another fabulous and mind blowing interpretation of the law by Singapore's top legal talents on this case that would outdo the 200m ruling for its ingenuity and brilliance.

Conversation with a Chinese national
I was having my lunch in a kopitiam when this Chinese national came calling me uncle and asking for permission to share the table. I did not push him away, scold him or nudge him from behind. I said ok and we had a little conversation. I did most of the listening as there was so much to learn from someone who was willing to share.
He said Xi Jinping has stopped all educational trips of Chinese officials coming to Singapore to learn the Singapore way. China had learnt a lot in the early days and now found that the current Singapore way is not what China needs or wants.
He spoke on many issues but most important of which is how China treats its oldies. China also has their version of CPF system whereby an employee would contribute 2% of his income and the employer 19%. Then the province, county and town or village would contribute the balance 79% to the fund. And at age 60, the oldies would be paid an allowance for life. He mentioned something like 4,000 rmb, not sure it was a month or a year. He added that the oldies are the happiest people in China, and the richest, that is why they are indulging in all kinds of leisure pastimes and travelling. And their children love them as they are not burdens to them, when the state is looking after them.
The oldies need not worry about pawning their homes to keep themselves alive. It is the duty of the state to look after them. The longer they live the more they enjoy the state pension. How’s that compare to our CPF, used to be a model formula for others to emulate but now turning foul. Got money but cannot touch, your own money but now some said not your money.
And how’s that compare to our oldies having to collect cardboard and pushing trolleys, or spending time in kopitiams to clean tables and wash plates to past their times? Some said to exercise while the Chinese oldies are doing line dancing in the parks?
This guy came from Xian in 2003 and was earning about $3k to $4k as a lorry driver. Now he said things are not so good and he is getting slightly more than $2k. Oh, he said in Xian, public transport is 1rmb per trip regardless of how long is the journey. How’s that? And they need not kpkb every now and them to raise fare to improve quality of service.
This is China practicing its socialist ideas, that the country or govt’s primary duty is to take care of the people’s welfare and well being. As China gets richer, more will be distributed to the people for them to live better and to live well. Not to be distributed to their leaders to make them millionaires. Xi Jinping said, if you want to get rich, don't join politics.
The happy Singaporeans would say Singapore is better. Singaporean oldies have pride and love to work until they die, to be independent and can exercise some more. And happy Singaporeans would continue to vote for their efficient and caring govt to look after them the way the govt knows best, especially their CPF savings, always there even after they died. For the money can only could not be used except for compulsory schemes. Singaporeans would not want the way China is looking after their oldies and their lifelong savings.

The Days After Death
By mikospace
May Day 2017. The night before, Father passed on from this
life. Death consumed him quietly after a full dinner as he rested; shutting
down his lungs, his breathing ceased and finally his heart stopped. At a full
life of 90-years old, Father was ready; and has been ready for quite a while
since Mother succumbed to her stroke which paralysed her for over a year some
17 years ago. Their blissful life was
survived by 6 children, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren! What a
blessed life indeed!
Death is personal
and customised for each one of us. It
accompanies us like a personal shadow, growing as we grow, and at time looming
larger or taller depending on the role it chooses as our alternate self. Death’s
only story is the story of our life. It has no separate meaning other than whatever
we have made with our life. We are death’s
only friend; that’s why it is often confusing as we hear its voice beckoned so
welcoming when our time cometh as we then struggle to prolong our earthly time
by grasping at the straw of a diminishing life.
The
fear of death is
quite exaggerated, and unfounded, when to die is actually perfectly
normal. All natural living things die. It is such an important part of
the natural
process. Death is many things to
different people who prefer not to talk or think about it. Like it or
not, though most of us do not like
it, it is more like we do not like its often uncertain timing. If only
we can choose when to die, wouldn’t
that be great!
The main problem is
that most people are not ready to die. Yet, most would live their life as if
death would not occur. We know life is
short, and yet we rush through it without spending quality time to appreciate
the beauty of nature or create meaningful moments with our loved ones. Many eat the wrong diets that shorten our
short life-span; others repeatedly poison their bodies with tobacco and nicotine;
or regularly drown their stomach, livers and kidneys in alcoholic beverages;
and millions others are addicted to consume strange chemicals in the forms of
vitamin-substitutes, health “supplements” and man-made medicines. Ironically,
death probably never works harder to prevent the onset of massive and pandemic
premature human deaths that should otherwise occur as a natural consequence of
mankind suicidal life-styles!
Death is also romanticised
by a spiritual interpretation. Many man-made
religions teach death as the separation of the imagined human “soul” from the
physical body, and which goes on living somewhere forever … to “heaven” if one
has been “good”, to “hell” if he/she has been “bad” or to a “holding” location
to be determined by some “gods” or divine beings. Some religious beliefs would “recycle” the
dead back to this world to provide another opportunity for them to live a “better”
life … why not send them back to a better version of this world, I wonder?! Who indeed would want to come back to this wretched
broken world again …!
There is no evidence
that the probabilistic existence of “heaven” and “hell”, or “recycling” for a
better life, has any effect on criminal behavior or better civic treatment of
fellow human beings or more socially responsible behavior in the community. My take is that everyone knew that no one is
really “good” enough to go to heaven … everyone irrespective of our jobs or
station in life is guilty of insufficient “good” deeds to qualify for that
hallowed “heaven” place. We are all condemned
by the good that we failed to do! That would leave “hell” as the common final
destination for the human souls; this is really comforting since many friends,
buddies, and enemies, would therefore be re-united after death.
The notion of the “afterlife”
is a denial of death being the end of life. People are just not ready to leave their loved
ones, or to stop enjoying their daily golf games or to cease having their party
fun. Others are really happy growing their businesses, increasing personal
wealth and prosperity way beyond their need to fuel a greater sense of security
and enhance their happiness assets. To
many, the “afterlife” is necessary in order to be truly human. For them, life
is a path that must lead somewhere, anywhere … as long as it does not just end!....

Cheng Bok takes the govt to court
Tan Cheng Bock finally filed his case to the court for a legal interpretation on the Elected President yesterday. His main point is to seek a court ruling on how the counting of President Wee Kim Wee as the first elected president is deemed legal and proper to justify an EP election this year.
We will now have to wait to hear what the court has to say and whether the ruling is constitutional. The AG's office would have to explain come they come about with their recommendation to the PM.
This is probably the first constitutional challenge in this island since independence.

South China Sea – Return of peace and calm when the devil is away
The Americans have stopped their agitation in the SC Sea and moving north to the Korean Peninsula to raise tension there. With their departure, peace and calm have returned to the region. Now who is the trouble maker that caused all the tension in the SC Sea and now causing tension in the Korean Peninsula? It does not need any thinking to know the answer. But some fools would forever be fools and would not be able to see that the devil has left to create trouble in the Northeast Asia.
The American Pacific Command under the Japanese Commander still wanted to stir trouble in the SC Sea and requesting approval from Washington to violate Chinese territorial integrity. Trump has turned them down, or Trump’s team in Washington has said no. Permission not granted. China is now helping Trump to deal with the problem of North Korea and so cannot create trouble for China.
The main theater for war is now in the Korean Peninsula and let there be peace in the SC Sea. But would the sneaky little USAs feel uncomfortable, backside itchy because there is no trouble in the SC Sea and would want to drag the Americans back into the region to create tension all over again? What would the little USAs gain if the region goes up in smokes?
Why would the little USAs want to create trouble in the region when they could have peace and live peacefully with everyone? Anyone wants to invite the trouble maker back into the SC Sea?
China is continuing on its mission to build a new infrastructure for trade with the OBOR project. China is going everywhere to build ports, cities, rails and road and trade. On the other hand the Americans are going everywhere to sign military pacts to conduct military exercises, to threaten regime change. The Americans are conducting military exercises with the Japanese, with the South Koreans, with the Philippines, with Jordan, with India, with Nato countries, all in the name of peace and is regarded by many fools as a peace loving country. China is all about trade, about economic development, about building infrastructure, about building international banks, but many fools chose to call these as hostile acts with aggressive intents. How long would the fools wake up from their stupidity? Oops, stupidity cannot be cured.

Time to review NS laws to be fair to Singaporeans
Jason Wong wrote an article on a Singaporean who returned home after spending 30 years overseas only to be jailed for 33 months! The article is in TRE and here is a quote,
‘The PAP has managed to instill fear even in its judges to hand out ridiculous jail sentences. Let’s take the case of 44 year-old Ang Lee Thye. This gentleman left Singapore at age 14 for the United States. Lived in the states presumably all this time, and then at age 41 decided that he missed Singapore enough to risk a jail sentence. He actually surrendered to authorities when he returned to Singapore. Boy did the PAP high court judges give it to him good. The lower court judge low-balled by giving Mr. Ang a 24 months sentence, but these “more” intelligent judges upped his jail time from 24 to 33 months!’
The law is the law. Yes who does not know that? But when the law is unfair, difficult to enforce equitably, and worst, puts Singaporeans at a huge disadvantage, should not the law be reviewed, should not the people that are paid millions by the Singaporeans, put their heads together to come out with a more equitable law to be fair to Singaporeans, to do justice to Singaporeans, the people that are paying them their million dollar salaries but become their victims with their laws? I am talking about the laws on National Service.
Yes, superficially the law is fair to all Singaporeans. I am not going to split hair on this and pick up exceptions. Generally this law is applicable to all Singaporeans, the rich and the poor, the dark horses and the white horses. Ok, take it as that. The law when applied to all Singaporeans is fair. The point is that Singapore is now flooded by foreigners that come and go, to steal the jobs of Singaporeans, steal their girlfriends and wives, while they are serving NS or doing reservist training to protect the country and people.
These foreigners are having the best of everything, with advantages in getting jobs, even getting free education paid by Singaporeans without having to serve NS or NS liabilities. And they got promoted to be the bosses of Singaporeans, to have Singaporeans working under them even if they are younger and have questionable qualifications and experience. Even if they become Singaporeans, or children of PRs, they could easily tear away the citizenship, give up their PRs and return to their home countries, skip doing NS and sell their flats at a profit to daft Singaporeans, and the daft Singaporeans were none the wiser. They are benefitting from all the things being NOT Singaporeans without any responsibility and liability while the poor Singaporeans will be jailed should they misstep and cross the line on this NS law.
It is high time, overdue, to revise this NS law to make it fairer to Singaporeans, not against Singaporeans and putting the foreigners, the PRs and the temporary new Singaporean at a huge advantage. Something must be done to change the situation for Singaporeans to come home again instead of staying away like convicts. Singapore is home to Singaporeans. Home has a special meaning to all Singaporeans. Don’t we want our Singaporeans to come home freely and happily? Do we have a heart to feel for our Singaporeans brothers and sisters, that they are one of us? Or we rather give their places to the foreigners that contributed nothing but sponging on our system, stealing our jobs and making Singaporeans looking really stupid?
What do you think? Are the NS laws fair to our fellow citizens?
I dunno want to laugh or cry for this Ang Lee Thye?

The United States made a pointed statement to North Korea that it would resort to violence, to attack North Korea if necessary. The United States have removed its veil as a peace loving Empire and would attack any country, particularly North Korea, if it did not stop its denuclearization programme. The world must come to the expectation that only the United States is allowed to have all the nuclear weapons at its disposal and no small countries would be allowed to have nuclear weapons except those that the United States could not attack without being counter attacked and those countries that the United States permitted to have nuclear weapons.
The United States have gone from bad to worse, instead of pretending to be a peace loving country, it is now saying it clearly that it would use force against smaller countries, to attack smaller countries, to conduct wars at its own discretion. Like a juvenile bully, the United States would use its big clout, its military power to bully smaller states to keep them from pursuing nuclear goals. Only the United States can have nuclear goals and ambition. It made it clear that it would impose economic sanctions against countries wanting to have nuclear weapons.
It’s avowed reason is for the United States to attack any country under the guise or deceptive term called regime change. Regime change is the United States code to invade a country to change its legitimate govt of the day. The North Korean govt must bear in mind that it would suffer the same fate of Iraq, Libya and Syria if it did not possess nuclear weapons to defend itself against an invasion by the United States. Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons are the only credible and effective deterrent against a vicious attack by the United States and its allies and their hostile policies of ‘regime change’.
When the Evil Empire think of nothing but its own military dominance and control over smaller countries, it sees nothing intrinsically wrong to attack and invade smaller states wanting to have nuclear weapons of their own, no matter that such weapons are for the defence against an attack by the United States. Given the peculiar and outrageous thinking of the United States, having nuclear weapons is the only means of survival and to prevent an attack by the United States.
However there is a way to end the brinkmanship in the Korean crisis. The United States must know that North Korea has the ability to strike back at the American continent and it is for the good of the United States to capitulate its aggressive intent to attack North Korea and to negotiate peacefully and to accept North Korea as another nuclear power.
The United States must reach a peaceful deal with emerging nuclear powers like Iran and North Korea, to engage them diplomatically instead of threatening them with military confrontation and war. The United States must move beyond sabre rattling, to come to the negotiating table to reach a peaceful settlement with North Korea and Iran, to lower tension and not to turn peace into war.
The United States cannot hope to solve the nuclear problems on its own without bringing in other nuclear powers to negotiate for a new status quo. The United States must change from its unilateral policy of wanting to have all the nuclear weapons to threaten other countries and not allowing other countries to have nuclear weapons to protect themselves against a mad and trigger happy United States that live on wars, that thrive on wars and profited from wars.

Singapore got poor people meh?
Gilbert Goh posted an article about the 200% hike in rental of a single mum living in a HDB flat. I quote,
‘A young single mum with a primary school-going daughter related to us how HDB mercilessly increases their rent from $61 to $230 during renewal when her new job carries a salary which increases from $1200 to $1500 before CPF deduction.
All the joy of having a $300 pay jump from a new job became a curse when HDB upon renewal of her lease learnt of the good news and decided to increase her rent.’
With a $300 pay hike, after less CPF, the single mum would have a little extra of $250+ to ease her living expense burden. Now with a $169 rental hike, there would be only $89 surplus left. Water fee hike, transport fee hike, hike of food prices and what not, the $89 may end up with only $50 left.
So the employer gave a pay hike to employees but the money goes to who? It would be quite different for people getting a 10% pay hike on a $10,000 or $20,000 salary or more. But a $300 pay hike to the poor, oops, cannot say this word, Singapore where got poor people, should use lower income people, it is a lot but ended up in other people’s pockets.
What to say? Our Robin Hoods are very good at robbing the poor to give to the rich. Oops, sorry again, Singapore got no poor people to be robbed. Robin Hood would have a big problem in Singapore because there is no poor people to rob. All the so called poor people have a lot of money in their CPF savings and these can be used to pay for more compulsory schemes to benefit them. Such lucky people. No need to think how to spend their savings, the govt thinks for them and helps them to spend.

American running dogs and proxy propagandists
There are too many institutes of higher learnings and international studies in Singapore and the intellectuals working there consist a large proportion of foreigners. These pseudo intellectuals are highly paid with local tax payers money. They especially the foreign intellectuals can possibly also be be CIA paid American fifth columns. They have constantly been articulating pro American propaganda under the guise of fair comment on current international and regional affairs and at the same time they feel no shame in frequently articulating anti-China statements and insinuate that China is damaging peace and security in East Asia and South East Asia. These pseudo intellectuals must be made to realise that they and their countries must eventually be responsible for the negative outcome of their fake news and insidious pro American propaganda and will have to pay a heavy painful price for unnecessarily provoking China with falsehoods and aggressive statements
During the 242 years of its existence America had initiated and fought not less than 230 wars of aggression and invasion resulting in the lost of many independent sovereign native American Indian states, lost of large swathes of Mexican territories comprising the present states of Florida, Texas, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizonda and California, and the lost of Hawaii and Guam.s independence In 1898 US attacked and invaded the Philippines. The heroic patriotic Philippinos fought bravely and courageously resisted the barbaric Americans but eventually succumbed to American military might after more than 300, 000 Philippnos were mercilessly killed and slaughtered by the American invaders. Philippines only gained its independence in 1948 after the Second World War.. though with many American military bases in the country it can be said it is always somewhat under semi-colonial American rule.
China in its 5,000 years of Civilization had never attacked or invaded any country. On the contrary it had always been attacked and invaded by foreigners. It was invaded by the Mongols in the 13th century, by the Manchus from 1642 to 1911, by the Russians from 1689 to 1885 with the adherent lost of more than three million square miles of Chinese lands to Russia and by other European powers, Japan and America from 1830s to 1940s.
Thus from the historical perspective anyone with the right sense of mind , logic and intellect should clearly discern or see which is a benign power China or US. If the intellectuals at Iseas-Yusof Ishak Institute and other institutes still think and see US as a benign power they should have their minds examined at mental hospitals.
I hope in my next article I will deal with the fake arguments of these pro-American running dogs. Beware of manuafactured American fake news and toxic propaganda which are being helped, harped and propagated by US fifth columns all over the world.

Donald Trump - Would he be the number One villian in human civilisation?
As the Washington rakes up the tension of war in Korea, the Americans are chuckling in glee as if they are about to watch another Hollywood war movie when the Americans would turn out victorious and the victims wiped out forever. And they could pop champagne and bath in the glories of more war heroes. The rest of the world is watching silently with disinterest as if it is a non event, it does not involve them, does not affect them and their lives will go on as per normal. This did not prevent AFP from another report to demonise North Korea with the heading, "N Korea the 'greatest threat' faced by US" or should it be "USA the 'greatest threat' to N Korea and human civilisation'?
The war hawks in Washington are shouting war, beating the drums of war. But do they know what this war means? The weapons available to both combatants are unthinkable that no sane men or women would ever think that the damage would be bearable and acceptable. Each nuclear bomb on a major city could wipe out tens of millions of people in a scale never before seen or experienced in human history. Imagine the world without Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, without Seoul, without Pyongyang, without New York, Washington, LA, Chicago and many big cities in the countries engaged in this war. And this is only a conservative estimate of the destruction. Should China and Russia get into the picture, the USA, Russia, China and Europe could go up in smokes.
What is the reason, the unacceptable and intolerable reason that makes this war unavoidable? No, the North Koreans are not threatening to attack anyone with nuclear weapons. The North Koreans are developing their own nuclear weapons for their own defence, to be able to retaliate should the Americans attack them. The North Koreans are in no position to go to war with the Americans and hope to survive a holocaust. The North Koreans are not mad and stupid to want to do that, to invite their own destruction. They are trying their best to develop a little insurance against the daily threats of an American invasion.
The really mad and warlike monsters are those in power in the White House and Washington and in Tokyo. These people think it is ok, alright, reasonable, acceptable, to start a nuclear war with the North Koreans, that the destruction and potential loss of tens of millions of lives, even threatening the existence of human civilisation just to stop the North Koreans from developing their small defence capability against an attack by the Americans and Japanese is worth it.
They believe in their own madness, that the Korean leaders are mad people and wanting to attack the Americans and it is right and good to destroy the Korean people now, even risking losing tens of millions of Americans, Japanese and South Koreans. This is the real madness, the real threat to the killings of millions of people on a false belief and assumption by a few mad people.
Would Trump really want to do this and become the greatest villian in human history and civilisation? Does he appreciate how serious and destructive is this war out of nothing but an imagined and self created fear of a straw man? When the nuclear button is pushed, there is no end to how many nuclear bombs would be fired and how many cities would be no more.
How sane or insane are those people in Washington and the White House? Should they be locked up forever before they destroy this world and this civilisation all because of a red herring? Tillerson spoke at the UN urging the world to act against the North Koreans before catastrophic consequences happened. He is now rounding up the stupid Asean countries to help the Americans to destroy North Korea, a standard trick used over and over again against small countries. Would the Asean leaders be smart enough to see through this devious strategy and be aware that they too would one day be demonized just like North Korea?
The reality is that catastrophic consequences would happen if the Americans attack the North Koreans now. If not, no catastrophic consequences will happen and the status quo will remain, the world will stay in peace. It is the Americans that are going to start a mad war of unimaginable consequences. Who would be there to stop these mad men and women in Washington? Who is there to stop Donald Trump from becoming the number one villain of human civilization?
